STOOGE HISTORY

1922.. Vaudevillian Ted Healy has disagreement with acrobatic act just minutes before curtain time. Act walks out, and Healy brings pals Moe & Shemp Howard out of the audience for impromptu comedy routines

1925.. Healy, Moe & Shemp spot Larry Fine in a Chicago revue as Larry plays violin to The Haney sisters singing. As Shemp has decided to leave the act, he suggests to Healy that Larry would be a replacement. Larry joins Healy & Moe at a slaary of $90 per week plus $10 for NOT playing the violin

1925.. Shemp returns to the group to be known originally as 'Ted Healy and his Racketteers'

1927.. Moe & Larry leave the act for personal reasons; Larry to get married and Moe for the birth of his daughter. Healy, Shemp & substitutes carry on.

1929.. Moe & Larry return with Healy & Shemp to appear in the Broadway revue, "A Night in Venice".

1930.. Healy, Moe, Larry & Shemp Star in "Soup To Nuts" produced by Fox Studios (later to become 20th Century Fox. The Stooges realize that Ted Healy has been underhanded in his management with regards to salaries, and they break ties with him.

1931.. Stooges perform under the name Howard, Fine and Howard.

1932.. Accepting his promise of fairness and refrain from drink, the Stooges, minus Shemp, form a partnership with Ted Healy. Curley Howard is recruited to replace Shemp in the act.

1933.. Healy and The Stooges are signed to a studio contract with MGM.

1934.. Stooges make final break from Ted Healy, and sign with Columbia Pictures. They appear under the name The 3 Stooges, in "Woman Haters" the team's first film withour Ted Healy.

1939.. After a British tour, the Stooges return to Broadway for the first time in 7 years. The production runs for 120 performances.

1946.. Curley suffers major stroke and is forced to leave the trio. Shemp is recruited to rejoin the group.

1952.. Curley suffers another stroke and dies at age 48

1955.. Shemp dies at age 60

1956.. Joe Besser is selected by Moe to be the 3rd Stooge.

1958.. "Curly-Joe" Joe DeRita replaces Joe Besser as the 3rd Stooge

1975.. Larry dies at age 72 on January 24, 1975

1975.. Moe dies at age 78 on May 4, 1975
