Bloopers on "I Love Lucy"

  • In the famous Vitameatavegimin episode, the part when Lucy staggers out the totally drunk, you can see the Ricardo living room, also in this episode, when the stage people are looking for Ricky, you can see Lucille Ball, out of character, smoking a cigarette.

  • In "The Courtroom" the Mertz'es celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, but just a year earlier in "The Girls Go to a Nightclub" they were celebrating their 18th.

  • In "Redecorating the Mertz'es apartment" Lucille Ball says "Lets paint the furniture and reupholster the old furniture" instead of "Lets paint the apartment and reupholster the old furniture" but Desi saved the dialog.

  • In "Ricky Minds the Baby" Fred and Ethel mention that they've been married 23 years, a year earlier in "The Courtroom" episode they were celebrating their 25th weeding anniversary, and a year before that in "The Girls Want to Go to a Nightclub" they were celebrating their 18th anniversary.

  • In "Lucy Learns to Drive" Lucy is teaching Ethel how to drive, but in "The Camping Trip" Ethel already knew how to drive.

  • In "Lucy Gets Into Pictures" Lucy makes a reference to Lillian Appleby, instead of properly calling her her new name Carolyn Appleby.

  • In "Paris at Last!" the prop department makes a mistake by mistakenly placing a bottle of California wine on the table.

  • In "Ragtime Band" Lucy claims to only know one song, "Sweet Sue" but in "The Saxophone" she only knew "The GlowWorm", also in this episode Ethel could barely play the piano, but in earlier episodes she has already shown that she played very well.

  • In "The Gossip" Ricky says that the Fosters live in apartment 3B, then in "The Anniversary Present" they live in 2A.

  • In "Pioneer Women" Lucy says her grandmother was Swedish, but in "Lucy Goes to Scotland" she is searching for her ancestors in Scotland.

  • In "Tennessee Ernie Hangs On" when Ricky is imatating cousin Ernie when he finds the ticket, he bends down to pick up the ticket, while he is bending down you can see a cord running across the screen.

  • In "Lucy and Bob Hope" Lucy gets her cleats stuck in a 1x1 tile. When Lucy, Ricky, and Bob Hope are finished with their song the tile isn't on her cleats anymore and they didn't she her taking them off.

  • In "Lucy and Ethel Buy the Same Dress" Ethel's middle name is Louise. In "The Million-Dollar Idea" her middle name is Roberta. In "Ethel's Home Town" her middle name is Mae.

  • Fred's ex-vaudeville partner was named Ted Kurtz in "The Ballet" in "Mertz and Kurtz" his name was Barney Kurtz.

  • In 2 episodes that aired only a month apart in 1952 Ricky mentions that him and Lucy had been living in the Mertz'es apartment building for 5 years, a couple of episodes later he gave the exact move in date of August 6, 1948. By 1954 they had lived in the Mertz apartment for 12 years.

  • The Ricardo's phone numbers changed quite a bit too. First it was MUrray Hill5-9975 six months later it was CIrcle7-2099, two years later it was MUrray Hill5-9099.

  • In "The Ricardos Visit Cuba" when Ricky and Little Ricky are preforming Uncle Alberto smashes his hat, in the next scene his hat is in perfect condition.

  • In "Lucy's Show Biz Swan Song" when Lucy and Ethel are auditioning if you look closely before Lucy's skirt falls you can see her untying her bow to make her skirt fall.

  • In "Redecorating the Mertz'es Apartment" Lucy makes a mess with the feathers in the MERTZ apartment, but in the last scene when Lucy and Ethel are in LUCY'S apartment you can see a feather slowly floating down. Blooper was provided by Gamma810@aol.com

  • In "Ricky Minds the Baby" Lucy is in Ethel's apartment and she is pacing back and forth, nervous about leaving little Ricky for the day, and you can see her shoes clearly, then she leaves Ethel's apartment and goes straight to her own, and when she walks through the door you can see that she is wearing different shoes! • When the cast gets ready to go to Hollywood, they state that they'd never had a car before.  But when Lucy and Ricky go to Connecticut to "renew" their vows (Episode #26:  The Marraige License), Ricky is driving a car (since he owes the gas station man money and since he says several times I'll go get the car).

  • Also, in episode 1 (Lucy thinks Ricky is trying to Murder Her) the couch in the living room is different from the couch in Episode 2 (The Girls Want To Go To A Nightclub.)  It was the same style almost but the couch in the living room was different.

  • And what happened to Butch, Fred's dog in Episode #4: the diet?  We never heard of him again.

  •  When Little Ricky brings "Fred" the dog home (#165: Little Ricky Gets a Dog) we find out that everyone signed a lease saying no pets.  Guess it was landlord privilege.

  • In episode 57: [No Children Allowed] makes it known that the lease (which we know that everyone has the same lease) says "it is expressly understood that at no time will children be permitted to live in the building." But there was a daughter for the people who lived in Apartment 3D (how else could she have gotten married?)

  • In the "I Love Lucy" episode where Lucy wants to pose as Superman for Little Ricky's birthday party, Ethel mentions that they are "3 flights up" when Lucy wants to come in through the window as Superman.  Meanwhile, in lots of other episodes, all of the characters come and go through the Ricardo's back kitchen door.  In fact, in that very same episode, Ricky and the real Superman must have come in through the kitchen door because Ricky comes into the living room from the kitchen looking for Lucy and he tells Fred that he has a surprise for Lucy, which is Superman who is in the kitchen. • In the episode "Lucy Thinks Ricky Is Trying To Murder Her" Ricky really drinks the glass with the sleeping powder in it. when Ricky first hands Lucy the cup with the sleeping powder in it, Lucy puts it on the table on the right. When Ricky dances she swiches the glasses so the one with the sleeping powder in it is on the left.  Then Lucy says "That's enough dancing lets drink."  Then she was about to pick up the glass with the sleeping powder in it on the left when Ricky says "Look at that. That is the biggest spider I have ever seen!" Then he switched the glasses back so that the sleeping powder was in front of him on the right.  He drank the one with the sleeping powder not Lucy. • Lucy and Ricky's wedding anniversary is never the same. When they're in California, Ricky tells her "Oh honey, I've always known our anniversary was on the seventh."  But in the episode when Lucy tries to remind him of their anniversary, Lucy circles the 19th (or something like that) on the calendar.  Blooper provided by: Brynos99@aol.com

  • We know that Fred and Ethel had a dog from episode #4, and then that the dog is never mentioned again.  Then Little Ricky gets a dog "Fred," and we learn that everyone living in the Mertzes' building signed the same lease which forbids pets and children. In episode #100, "The Business Manager", Mrs. Trumble asks Lucy to go to the market and get some cans of All Pet for Mrs. Trumble's cat. We know that Mrs. Trumble signed the same lease as the Ricardos because when she is first introduced into the storyline (#57-No Children Allowed), she reads directly from the lease: "it is expressly understood that at no time will children(and pets) be permitted to live in the building."  Are cats not considered pets? Lucy (or possibly Ethel) made a reference in "Lucy Plays Cupid" to Mrs. Lewis' cat when a strange noise was heard. Blooper provided by: RGJohns@dallas.net

  • In episode 36 ("The Anniversary Present"), Ricky buys Lucy real pearls with help from Grace Foster.  However, in 1959 in an episode from the "Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour" in "The Ricardos Go to Japan," Lucy wants real pearls, and makes a big deal out of her fake pearls that she bought at Gimble's basement. What happened to those that Ricky gave her for their 12th anniversary in 1952? Blooper provided by: RGJohns@dallas.net

  • In the I Love Lucy Christmas Special where Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel are reminincing about old times, at one point Fred turns on the lights to the tree and they all of a sudden pop off again. Pay attention to Lucy before the lights go off, you can deliberately see her pull the plug on the tree from the other end trying to hide behind Ricky, to cover up for it she laughs along with the gang when the lights go off! Blooper provided by: Anthony@bestweb.net

  • In "Too Many Crooks", Fred asks which way Madame X went, Lucy and Ethel tell him that she went to the right, Fred runs to the left (on purpose) which would lead out to Lucy's livingroom window! Blooper provided by: Anthony@bestweb.net

  • In "Changing the Boys' Wardrobe, after Lucy talks Ricky into changing clothes and then he sees how Fred is dressed, In an effort to get Ricky to go in the nice clothes he has changed into, Lucy says to everyone "I'll go up and get Mrs. Trumble" meaning that she was watching the baby at their apartment, but when they get back into the apartment after seeing the show, there is no one there. No Mrs. Trumble and no Little Ricky! Blooper provided by: bjones@gateway.net

  • In "Ricky Has Labor Pains," when lucy is reading a magazine, the phone rings, and she can't get up out of "the most comfortable chair in the house" if you look closly at the magazine she was reading, you can see a heart in the lower right corner that says "I Love Lucy," So she probably read about her popular television show. blooper provided by brandon_19_99@email.com

  • In "The Freezer," Lucy puts the beef into the furnace that Fred was fixing, then after Lucy freezes herself, he goes down to turn on the furnace, wouldn't Fred have seen the beef in the furnace? Blooper provided by: bumblebug@earthlink.net

  • In the episode "Lucy Thinks Ricky Is Trying To Murder Her" Lucy is running away from Ricky after her attempt as a moving target didn't work. Under her robe she has a frying pan and a garbage can lid to protect herself. When she runs toward the bedroom the frying pan protecting her front accidentally falls to the floor. Looking closer you see Lucy loosen the pan herself. Some accident!!! Blooper provided by: LParedes@gccnj.edu

  • In "The Marriage License" Lucy rushes off to the Licence Bureau at 9:00 (around something like that).Ricky decides to play a trick on Lucy when Fred tells him that he has a friend who works at the License bureau. Later on, Ricky, Fred, and Ethel are worrying where Lucy is. Ricky then goes to the fireplace where the clock is overhead and mentions the time. Looking at the clock closely you notice that it reads the same time from when Lucy left. Lucy then walks in the door all depressed. When asked where she has been Lucy responds that she has "just been walking" and for the last hour she was on a train coming home from East Orange New Jersey. Long Walk!!!
