Hi y'all! Just wanted to drop this vid in and say HI!!!! Just wonderin'
what y'all are doing.

Anyways, this is a new song by Natalie Imbruglia (silent g) and I
absolutely love it. :) So I decided to make an MV out of it. I guess
this can apply to the current situation in the main timeline of the
JQ2K-verse.
So here it goes...

DISCLAIMER: I do not own the song, Natalie Bruglia, or any characters
from the JQTRA series

TORN
sung by: Natalie Imbruglia

Mishelle Taylor Jenks rested her head on the window, sighing, and
closed her smoky gray eyes. Her face was paler than usual, and her
condition looked haggard. She stared forlornly out the window into the
rainy afternoon, her form sillhouetted by the dark of her room, her face
partly covered by the shadows...where the only light cast was the
gray-white light the gloomy day conveyed.
"It's not like I actually got my normal six hours of sleep," she
mumbled to herself, staring out at the rain.
It had been three days now. Three days since they discovered the body
switch between Rex Derbyshire the III and Jonathan Benton Quest. The
emotional stress that came with the dscovery had been almost to much for
her....and him. As Mishelle hugged her knees, she couldn't help but
feel....empty.
"I couldn't even look at him in the eye anymore," she thought
morosely. "It used to be so easy challenging those eyes....now I
couldn't even glance at his direction without remembering
everything....."
She squeezed her eyes shut, then let her head fall with a soft thud
against the glass panes of the window. "I KNOW it's Quest in there...."
she thought fiercely. "In there..the body of that bastard! How could
I...how could I help fix things if I can't even LOOK at him?" She
lowered her head as she forced her silent tears back. "Dammit
Quest....you always make it difficult for anyone to help you."
Mishelle took out her red yoyo from her shirt pocket and stared at it.
For two years, the thing had been her stress reliever, masked in a
childish toy to retain her mask of cynicism in front of others. She
stared at it blankly, then threw it away from her in frustration as she
hugged her knees.
"Shit...." she cursed quietly. "Nothing's easy when it comes to him."
The yoyo sailed somewhere in the dark void of her room and hit
something with a clunk. Her head snapped up as something sounded in the
darkness, her body tensing in defense. Realizing it was the small radio
in the room, she relaxed, then proceeded to stare out the window as a
song started playing.

I thought I saw a man brought to life
He was warm, he came around like he was dignified
[Flashback to Mishelle and her older brother, growing up together and
sharing everything]

He showed me what it was to cry
[Rex and Mishelle meeting for the first time freshman year in high
school]

Well you couldn't be that man that I adored
[Rex with an evil look on his face as he tells Mishelle that he was the
one who killed her brother, casefile #0002. Switches to the recent
past, where Mishelle squeezing her eyes shut as Rex grabs her on both
shoulders and starts shaking her, telling her that he was really Jonny,
looking bruised and beat up]

You don't seem to know, seem to care, what your heart is for
["Jenks! Listen to me, dammit! It's ME!"
"Damn you! You actually had the GALL to show yourself to me?!"
"Dammit Rover, look at him! He's not the Bleach-head you know! The real
Quest would never touch you like he did earlier! NEVER!"]

But I don't know him anymore
[The rest of the team looks at Jonny (in Rex's body) and gape at
Mishelle as she slowly explains everything, her eyes downcast, not
looking at anybody in the eye]

There's nothing where he used to lie
["'Shelle-chan...."
"I can't, Tai. Every time I look at that face, I remember...I remember
everything.....dammit...just when I thought I was actually getting over
it."]

My conversation has run dry
["I guess we can't even fight normally the way we used to with
this...with this face....you can't help but remember, can you? You can't
even look at me."
 *sound of a glass breaking*
"Don't get mad at yourself, Quest, no matter what...when it wasn't your
fault."]

That's what's going on
[Rex (Jonny) looks at Mishelle morosely as she stands in the other end
of the room, her back turned to him, staring at the fire. A broken glass
bottle shattered to pieces on the floor.
"It's gonna be hard for you."
"For all of us, you mean."
"It'll hit you hard the most."
"Don't sweat it, Quest. I'm fine."]

Nothing's fine, I'm torn
[Mishelle leans her head back to the wall behind her, then turns her
head to find the rain drops slide down her glass window]

I'm all out of faith
["We'll never get his body back.....not like this..."
"Don't give up, yet, Taylor. I ain't gonna let you two suffer 'cause of
that bastard."
 "Trav...."]

This is how I feel
[Mishelle at night, tossing and turning. She falls on the floor, with
her blankets falling with her.]

I'm cold and I am shamed, lying naked on the floor
[She curls up in a fetal position on the carpeted floor, her blankets
around her, a naked shoulder exposed, staring blankly in the darkness]

Illusion never changed
Into something real
[Mishelle shook her head as Claudette tries to comfort her.]

I'm wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn
[Back to Mishelle by the window, looking at the gray, gloomy sky]

You're a little late
I'm already torn...
[Flashback to Mishelle in a defensive stance between Jonny and Rex, not
knowing which is which]

So I guess the fortune teller's right
["It's me! Owwww...."
 "Don't play games with me!"
"Dammit, Jenks! I can list everything we did to each other in..ow!
Second grade. Ask him, dammit! Ask him a question only you and I would
know! ASK HIM! He wouldn't be able to 'cause he's not me!"

I should've seen just what was there and not some holy light
["Qu...Quest?"]

But you crawled beneathe my veins and now
I don't care, I have no luck
I don't miss it all that much
["I think we found him."
 "Where Trav?"
"New York. We better act fast."
 "I'll get Jess."
 "Careful, Jenks."]

There's just so many things
That I can touch, I'm torn
[The scene outside Mishelle's window happens to be the skyline of New
York city in the winter rain]

CHORUS
Torn...
There's nothing where he used to lie
[Jonny (Rex) giving Claudette and Mishelle an evil look]

My inspiration has run dry
[The teenagers in the room sit in tense silence. No arguments from
Mishelle and Jonny (in Rex's body)]

That's what's going on
["Mishelle....why don't you go home and see your parents for a while? I
know you and my son haven't been the best of friends....but this is
obviously taking its toll on you both."
"You forget you're suffering, too, Dr. Quest...that the son you knew is
a stranger underneath. I'm not leaving....not until we catch that
filthy bastard and get your son's body back. It wouldn't be fair to you
or to him, it ain't right."]

Nothing's right, I'm torn
[Back to Mishelle by the window, who closes her eyes again]

CHORUS
I'm all out of faith
[V.O. of her thoughts. "Dammit....it's been two days...."]

This is how I feel
I'm cold and I'm ashamed, bound and broken on the floor
["'Shelle-chan...."
"I'm okay, Tai...I just felt faint, that's all."
 "You haven't been sleeping."
 "I can't afford to."
"Stop blaming yourself, it isn't your fault. We all have to do our
share."]

You're a little late
I'm already torn
Torn...

The door burst open as Jessie came rushing in, her red hair windblown.
She paused to catch her breath as Mishelle leapt to her feet in alarm.
"He's been spotted down Madison Square," Jessie told her friend.
"Trav's already on the move. We have to meet him there."
Mishelle nodded as they both headed out the door. "What about Quest?"
she asked. "Did you tell him?"
Jessie frowned. "I looked in his room and I found a note that said
he'll be out for a while....." Her green eyes widened as she stared at
Mishelle. "Oh god! Do you think he..."
"He knew," Mishelle mumured in disbelief. "And now he's...."
Jessie and Mishelle started running in full speed towards the elevator
of the hotel they were staying in.
"Oh god!" Jessie gasped as Mishelle pounded on the elevator 's down
button with frustration. "He's...he's gone after him...ALONE."

Finis.....
