"Goodbye,"
by :Nix C.
Jessie looked at the empty room, his things were in boxes, the room was
desolate. She could hardly believe that time had gone by so quickly that
time has come to this. Jonny was always so sad, so empty, he was like a
zombie that had no feelings.
Hadji was to return to Bangalore a week earlier when he was diagnosed with
a fatal brain cancer, in the final stage. This was triggered due to his
mental powers that was actually unbalanced chemicals in his brain, that
when used to its limit, made the cancer spread.
Just a week earlier, they were all in his hospital room at the Cedar Seinai
institute in California. They had gotten the best doctors money could get.
But that wasn't enough.
"Jessie, why are you so sad?" Hadji asked weakly. "Don't look so sad, it
only makes me sad."
"I'm sorry Hadji," Jessie trembled as she sat on the corner of his bed.
"Its just that..."
"Look,"He began," you cannot prevent death, when it is your time one must
accept it."
Jonny clenched his fists. "Its not fair," he hissed. Hot tears welled up in
his eyes as Jonny struggled to keep his emotions in.
Jessie began to sob and Jonny hugged her tightly, then they both enfolded
Hadji in a tight embrace. They were clutching to the last peice of their
innocence, the last shred of their friendship. The memories would always be
there, inside each on of them.
"Hadji, you can't go, don't leave me," Jessie whispered. She looked at his
brown eyes still so full of life, of curiousity.
"I will never leave you Jessie,"Hadji said as he smiled comfortingly at
her. "I will always be in your heart and that where it matters."
Jonny looked at his bestfriend. "We've been through so much..."
Hadji looked at his blonde haired friend. "Jonny even though we were never
real brother, I want you to know that if I had a real brother, I would want
him to be just like you, you are the bestfriend anyone could ever ask for,
you were always there for me, as I will for you. Keep me in your heart and
always look to the stars. I'll be there watching."
Jonny blinked rapidly and could not control himself anymore and broke down
crying in Jessie's arms. This wasn't fair, he thought angrily. Why him? WHy
couldn't it be Surd? Or. Zin? Why did it have to be his bestfriend???????
That night at one thirty am, Hadji Singh died in room 234, in the Cedars
Seinai hospital.
The funeral was a few days later and Hadji was cremated at his request. His
ashes were placed next to the tomb of Rachel Wildey Quest. His tombstone
read, "Hadji Singh 1979-1999, loving son, beloved friend. We will always
remember you."
THE END
Disclaimer: I don't own the Quest Team, HB does. I am not making any money
out of this. I have done this merely to show my liking towards the series.
