Title: Rain part 1 of 2.
The Quest team sat in there famous Quest Compound,having a somewhat quiet
day(if you could call any day at the Quest Compound quiet). Doctor Benton
Quest sat at his laptop,looking over modifactions to new programs he would
soon put into Questworld along with the countless others he had stored in
the large,VR database.Race Bannon stood at the mantel of the large
fireplace they had in the main sitting room,watching the flames move around
wildly,as if engaged in a forbidden dance known only to him.Race's finger
tapped softly on the mantel going along with the tick-tock of the old
Grandfather clock that stood in the corner looming over them. Jonny Quest,
Hadji,and Jessie Bannon,were sprawled out on the old,worn rug on the floor
studying feverishly for a test that was going to be held the following day
at the High School they went to. "No Jonny,Hadji won't do the test for
you," Jessie laughed,smiling at the blond-haired boy across from her.
"Aw,come on,you'll do it,won't you Hadji?" Jonny inquired to his
quiet,Indian friend.
"Oh no,my friend, I couldn't possibly do that,your father would get mad,and
I would feel guilty,someone getting the same grade as I,and me doing all
the work. No Jonny,I will not do it," he said,looking down into his
textbook.
"Pl--"Jonny stopped,hearing Isis' voice booming through the compound.
"An Erin Waters at the gate to see you,Dr.Quest," Isis said,her voice
coming over the speakers. *Erin Waters,that last name sounds familar,*
Dr.Quest throught. He looked at the monitor,seeing a young girl about
Jonny's age with light brown hair and dark blue eyes staring at him through
the screen. *Samuel!* he throught,*she must be his daughter,but where is
he?* "Let her in Isis," he said. Dr. Quest walked by Jonny,Hadji,and
Jessie,who were starting to stand up. "Sorry Jonny,but this is personal,you
stay here in the sitting room," he said,knowing very well what they usually
did when company came. "Benton?" Race asked, "Do you want me to come?"
"No,you stay here with Jonny and the others," Dr.Quest said,rushing to meet
Erin Waters. *What is so important that dad wants us to stay here?* Jonny
throught,scraching his head.
Dr. Quest walked to the door,and was greeted by Erin,marveling at the
paintings,scuptures,and rugs that he had collected from his travels. She
held one bag,cluching it as if it were the most important thing in the
world. "Miss. Waters?" Dr. Quest said,making her jump. "Hi,I mean, Hello,
Dr. Quest," she said,reaching her hand out for a handshake. "Hello
Miss.Waters,to what do I have the pleasure of your company?" he
said,grasping her hand. "Um,just call me Rain if you would,that's what
everyone else calls me,"she said. "My father wants to know if I may stay
with you and your family until he gets back,he gave me this to explain,"
she said,pulling out a disk from her bag,placing it in his hand.
Rain and Dr.Quest went to the study,Dr. Quest putting the disk into his
laptop. A man looking to be in his thirties with graying hair,and the same
dark-blue eyes as Rains' popped onto the screen. He had rugged features and
a scar on his cheek,he looked like his years were starting to catching up
on him quicker than they were supposed to. "Benton,"he said,his voice
coming out with a thick Scottish accent. "If Rain be in here with
you,please sin' 'er away," he said. Upon hearing Rain walked out of the
room,sitting on a couch in the hall. "Allison died a week ago Benton,* he
said,his voice coming out ragged,as if he were about to cry. "Rain,the 'we
lass dunt know yet,it be 'er birthday today. I didn't have the heart to
tell her,she be so young in my eyes. I told 'er she be in South
America,studying the trees she loved so much," he said. "they killed 'er,"
he said,suddenly becoming angry. "those lads killed 'er," he said,not
mentioning who. " I be goin 'ta find them,please take Rain,she 'ave no
place ta go but here," he said giving a pleading look. "Dunt tell 'er bout
'er mother,she need not know..."he said,the screen fading into darkness.
Benton shut the laptop,hiding the disk in his pocket.
Benton walk out into the hall,placing a hand on Rains' shoulder. "Welcome
to the Quest Compound," he replied.

"Jonny? Do you see anything?" Jessie Bannon inquired to her friend Jonny
Quest. Her,Jonny,and Hadji stood peeking into the study where Dr. Quest
was. "Sorry Jess. Wait!"he said, watching him leave the study. Jonny jumped
off of Jessie's back,stumbling over his feet when he landed. "Ow!" Jonny
cried,rubbing his head,he quickly sat up when he saw Rain and Dr.Quest
enter the room. "H..hey dad,"Jonny replied,trying to look innocent. Benton
looked at Jonny,giving him a scowling look. Race glanced over at the
two,giving Dr. Quest a questioning look. Dr. Quest nodded motioning to
Rain. "This is Rain,or as Iris told you,Erin Waters," he said. "she'll be
staying with us for awhile till her father...and mother gets back from
South America."
Jonny looked at Rain,his eyes widening, Jessie punched him in the
shoulder,giving him a look. Jonny rubbed his shoulder,grumbling at Jessie.
"Hello Rain," Hadji nodded."I am Hadji." "Hi Rain," Jonny smiled. "I'm
Jonny Quest,he's my dad,"he said,pointing to Benton. "I'm Jessie Bannon,"
Jessie said,extending her hand,smiling. Rain took it,smiling back. Bandit
ran into the room,a chewed up sneaker of Jonny's in his teeth. Jessie
laughed,"and this is Bandit." the dog looked up at her,his mouth in a doggy
grin. A man with a Southern accent spoke behind her,"I'm Race
Bannon,pleased to meet you," he nodded,doing the same as Hadji.Rain turned
around recoginizing Race's voice."My father knew you!" she exclaimed. "He
talks of you a lot..." "I'm Samuel Waters daughter," she said,smiling at
Race. Race looked at her,noticing the resemblence,espeically the deep blue
eyes. "Ah,Sam,"he laughed"you look so much like him." " Hey dad!" Jonny
said,excited,"Can we show Rain Questworld?" he said,giving dad a pleading
look. "Of course," Benton said.
Jonny,Hadji,Jessie,and Rain,went down to the lighthouse,their footsteps
slapping on the cobblestone pathway. They shut the door to the
lighthouse,Hadji going to setup a program. "Hey Jonny,there is a new
program,I think your dad put it in,should we run it?"Hadji said,looking up
from the screen. "Sure Hadj," he said,strapping Rain in,staring at her.
Jessie stared at Jonny and Rain,about to laugh.*Jonny Quest,in love again*
she throught smirking. " What's so funny?" Jonny said,looking at Jessie.
"Nothing," Jessie said,quieting down. "Iris,enter new subject into
memory,Rain Waters," Hadji said to Iris. "Rain Waters,scanning," Iris
said,a green light scanning Rains' image. "Rain Water's comfirmed,new
subject in memory banks,you may proceed," Iris said. "Woo Hoo! Let's go!"
Jonny said,placing a VR device into Rain's ear,a red light shooting from
it,covering Jonny,Jessie,and Rains' eyes like sunglasses.
"WELCOME TO QUESTWORLD JONNY QUEST,JESSIE BANNON,AND RAIN WATERS,I HOPE
YOU ENJOY YOUR VISIT" Iris's voice boomed into their ears.A green gateway
opened up,it looking like it were being warped,then they saw the virutal
program made for them. Rain and Jessie gasped,looking around. Jessie wore a
suit of pink,Jonny of blue,and Rain of red. A wasteland loomed before
them.Trees were grey and dying,the sand grey,the land was in shadows,yet a
burning sun shone in the sky. "Surd," Jonny whispered angrily. A man
appeared before them,he had pale skin,brown eyes,black hair,and a sinster
face,he laughed,studying Rain. "So Jonny Quest,have a new playmate?" Surd
said,looking at Rain. "It's none of your busniess,where are we?" Jonny
sneered,trying to punch him but going right through him. Surd laughed. "You
can't hurt me,I'm not there..." Surd said. "HA,HA,HA"
"Dr. Quest! Dr.Quest!" Hadji cried over the intercom. "Yes Hadji?"
Dr.Quest replied.
"Surd is in the mainframe,he has trapped Jonny,Jessie,and Rain in one of
his programs!"Hadji exclamed. "Surd," Dr.Quest said,his voice thick with
hatred. "Come on Race,lets go."
"Now,Rain is it? Let's have some fun," Surd said mockingly,Rain and Him
disappearing. "RAIN!" Jonny screamed.
"He has blocked out all access,but we can talk to th--" Hadji
stopped,hearing Jonny scream Rains' name. "Rain,where are you?" Jonny
exclamed. "I'm afraid you can't have that information now,"Surd's voice
boomed,laughing at Jonny and Jessie. "Johnny,I have an idea," Jessie cried.
"Hadji,can you pull up the program I've been working on?" " I think so
Jessie,but it may take some time"Hadji said,going to work.
"Surd? I throught you were dead ,accidently killed by Race or
something,"Rain said,her and Surd floating through a corridor of virual
wires and and pathways. "Reports of my demise are greatly overrated,by
Bannon's case,he will be dead,not me," said Surd,laughing. "Where are we
going?" Rain asked,the wires and pathways dimishing. "It's not where I'm
going,it's where YOU'RE going," Surd sneered,disappearing.
"Got it Jessie," Hadji said,routing a device into Questworld,shaped like
a sphere. "Ok,thanks Hadji," Jessie said. The sphere starts glowing and the
wasteland disappears,Jonny and Jessie being "teleported" to where Rain is.
"Boy I missed you guys" Rain exclaimed.
Afterwards: "Jessie,how'd you do that in the VR?" Jonny said. "I never
reveal my secrets," Jessie said,laughing.
