Sophia was first introduced as a waitress for Ben Davidson at the Crossroads bar. She knew what was going on in there about Viki Buchanan Carpenter always stopping by. Dorian Lord Hayes found out about Viki going into the bar all the time to see Ben. Dorian wanted to know what was going on, so she hired Sophia to watch them for her. Sophia did it for Dorian for about a month. Ben was thought to be a criminal, so Dorian thought she could get something dirty on Viki to blackmail her, since Viki was secretly seeing Ben. Dorian talked Sophia into to sneaking into Viki's house to find something incriminating, and they found Ben's bloody shirt and knew he was there. Ben was really in the attic, shot and wounded, Viki was taking care of him. Dorian's plan was ruined when they found out Ben was not a criminal. He was really an ex-mob doctor and the mob was trying to kill him.

Sophia saw a guy in the bar, Joey Buchanan, and she seduced him into sleeping with her. Joey was Kelly Crammer's old boyfriend, but since Kelly was getting married to Max Holden, Joey thought his and Kelly's relationship was over. Sophia and Joey's little love affair didn't last long, though, when Kelly broke the wedding off and she relized she loved Joey. Kelly and Joey got back together. Kelly didn't know that Joey had slept with Sophia. Sophia told Kelly about it, and Kelly was very very mad. Kelly ran out on Joey at Jessica Buchanan's party. Kelly relized that Joey and she weren't together when it happen so she forgave him and they got back together.

On that same night, Dorian hit Jessica Buchanan with her car. Jessica's baby died, but Jessica lived. Dorian ran away and no one knew that Dorian did it. A few days later, Sophia went to Dorian's and when she got there, Dorian thought it was Jessica haunting her. Dorian told Sophia(not knowing it was her) that she was sorry for hitting her with the car. When Sophia heard this, she knew she could blackmail Dorian and she did. She said she would tell the police if Dorian didn't let her stay at her house with her. Dorian had to say yes. Kelly also lives with Dorian though, and Kelly hates Sophia. Sophia was making Kelly very mad staying with her, especially because of her past relationship with Joey. Once Dorian admitted what she had done, there was nothing for Sophia to blackmail her about so she was kicked out.

Sophia then told Brian Harris(a man that was planning on raping Kelly) that if he wanted Kelly that he would have to go a place where Kelly was waiting for Joey while Sophia distracted Joey to get him to like her more. So Brian did it, and found Kelly almost half naked. Kelly then hated Brian, and Brian wanted revenge on Sophia. So he kidnapped her, and hid her in the closet of his crummy apartment. Sophia was rescued by Rae Cummings though. After that Sophia found Rea as a friend. Rea got her a place to stay for a while why she got her life back together. When Rea left town, Sophia got a job from Rea's friend John Sykes at the police station.

One day Sophia overheard Kelly and Kevin Buchanan, Joey's brother talking. She heard Kelly and Kevin say that they were having an affair, and that they couldn't tell Joey, because it would hurt his feelings. Sophia went and told Joey, but Joey didn't believe her, and Joey thought nothing of it except for Sophia trying to get him back. Sophia then saw Kelly and Kevin kissing. Sophia ran over to tell Joey, but he didn't believe her. Joey then confronted Kelly and Kevin about it, but they both said it never happened. Joey told Sophia to stay away from him, and leave him alone. Joey embaressed Sophia infront of a lot of people, Sophia then heartbroken left Joey alone.

Later, Kelly and Kevin admited to Joey that they were having an affair. Joey went to Sophia, and apologized to her. Sophia and Joey never got together romantically, but were always friends.

Sophia not getting paid very well decided to join the police force since she already worked for the police. Sophia was assigned to be partnered up with Antonio Vega. Sophia and Antonio spent a lot of time together. By now Roseanne Delgado had invited Sophia to live with her at her Penthouse. Roseanne and Sophia grew to be great friends. Both Sophia and Roseanne grew to have a crush on Antonio. Soon Antonio and Roseanne started to have a wild romance, but Sophia didn't know about it. Sophia told Roseanne about her crush on Antonio, and Roseanne was upset. To try to get Sophia's mind off of Antonio Roseanne tricked Sophia into finding Antonio her her in bed together, and a heartbroken Sophia went away. She ran to Joey, and Joey gave her a shoulder to cry on.

Sophia and Roseanne then got kicked out of the Penthouse by Todd Manning, who claimed he owned it. Sophia with no where to turn, went to Joey, and Joey offered her to stay at the Carriage house with him, and Sophia happily accepted. Meanwhile, Roseanne got a home with Antonio. This broke Roseanne and Sophia's friendship, and they soon became enemys. Sophia started having troubles in the police acedemy. Antonio helped her pass the class, and Antonio and Sophia both got their badges and became police officers. This only grew Sophia's love for Antonio, and Antonio and Sophia became greater friends. Sophia realizing that she Antonio is taken tried to get over him by going after his brother, Christian Vega. After they went to a bar, they got in a car, and a drunken Christian crashed the car into a pole with Sophia in it. Sophia was badly injured while Christian's hand was paralyzed. Antonio helped Sophia get over her injuries, and this made Sophia love Antonio even more. Once Sophia could leave the hospital she forgot about Christian, and once again went after Antonio.

By now, Joey turned out to still be in love with Kelly. After many atemps at trying to break up Roseanne and Antonio, Sophia and Joey teamed up to break up Antonio and Roseanne, and Kelly and Kevin. Sophia and Kelly were now friends, and they spent quality time together a lot. Sophia told Kelly that Kevin was no good, and that they should break up, while Joey was reminding Antonio that Roseanne was just a good roll in the hay and not a good relationship. Sophia didn't help out Joey very much, but Joey helped break up Antonio and Roseanne. Roseanne soon found out that thats all Antonio thought of him, and she was mad. Antonio, not knowing that Sophia had such a big crush on him asked if he should break up with Roseanne or not. Sophia told Antonio that he should break up with her. When Roseanne found out that Sophia said that, Roseanne told Antonio that Sophia loved him. Antonio was in shock. He confronted Sophia about it, and she confessed that it was true. Antonio told Sophia that he didn't like her like that, and that he wanted to just stay friends.

Antonio and Sophia then went to the police commissioner, Bo Buchanan, and switched partners, because they didn't want their feelings affecting stuff when they are on the job. Roseanne and Antonio got back together which didn't make Sophia very happy. Sophia and Antonio remained good friends though.

Sophia and Antonio started concentrating on ending R.J. Gannon's illegal dealings, and kept trying to bust him, but every time they tried a bust he would get tipped off first. R.J. was paying Roseanne to tip him off, and Roseanne would eavesdrop on Antonio and Sophia and then Roseanne would tell R.J. what she heard. Sophia started suspecting that Roseanne was the one who was tipping R.J. off, and Sophia kept trying to nail Roseanne for it. Just before Sophia could tell Antonio that Roseanne was the one tipping off R.J., a crate fell on her and Antonio in a police bust. Sophia was seriously injured, while Antonio only had minor cuts and bruses. Sophia was forced to be sent to a clinic in Minnesota where she could get the feeling back in her legs. Before Sophia left for Minnesota she made Kelly promise that she would tell Antonio about Roseanne's illegal dealings with R.J. after she left.
