Period Roles or Modern Drama?

Why do you like Fann in either?

"Let's face it, Fann has got the looks for both period and modern roles.  While she can look demure and sexy in period costumes, she can at the same time look sophisticated and subtle in modern wear.  What better choice other than Fann to bring the otherwise dull and drab TCS period costumes to life.  However, with only one period drama to her credit, a lot still has to be anticipated if she can land in the role of Xiao Long Nu in TCS's version of The Return of the Condor Heros." -- JuS ( jus@post1.com )

"Fann, the face of thousand charms will definitely do us proud if she gets her Xiao Long Nu role.  She fits in perfectly. As for modern roles, there's no one who can be as bubbly yet at the same time as demure as Fann. Nobody comes close!" -- Lin Zuyi ( zuyi@pacific.net.sg )

"Okay, let's discuss about this. I think that Fann is the most versatile actress in Caldecott Hill. She has the potential to act in either modern or period dramas. She looks very good in the telemovie " Somewhere In Time". Let's hope that she gets the role of Xiao Long Nu. Fann, I wish you all the best!!!" -- Celestine Lim ( celwx@pacific.net.sg )

"Well , there is no dispute! Fann looks just as good in period dramas as well as in modern ones. Her portrayal of Xiao Long Nu will be magnificent as I feel that she can truly reflect the character well. However , I'm still cracking my head as to the actor for the role of Yang Guo. Lastly , I wish Fann success in everything she does in 1997. CIAO !" -- Dave Tan ( davetan@cyberway.com.sg )

"I would say Fann is quite versatile in both period roles and modern drama. She is able to look demure in her (so far only one) period role (Somewhere in Time, right?) while modern drama is her "cup of tea". She can portray just about any role she is given. Quite a thespian! And always improvement with each serial/telemovie.  Wishing you all the best Fann :)" -- Melanie ( bee8mel@pacific.net.sg )

"Fann Wong as Xiao Long Nu???  Well I think she will be under a lot of pressure. She will be compared to Carmen Lee and Idy Chan the same way Louis Koo was compared to Andy Lau in TVB's 1995 version of the Condor Heroes. Hopes she does well." -- AL ( choov@bc.tony.edu )

"I think that Fann looks really nice in period dramas. She can exude charm in modern dramas too. She has the looks, the height, and most important of all, she can act very well. I think that is why she can portray any character that captures people's attention and make people like her.  I will still continue to support her even though she made the contract mistake." -- Qingli ( unforgettable@cybergal.com )

"On the topic of Fann Wong's possible role as Xiao Long Nu.  There has been a lot of critisims going around on TCS's decision to have their own version of The Return of the Condor Heros.  Indeed, it can be speculated that whoever the actors or actresses are under taking the role, they will be constantly compared ( and even criticize ) to their counterparts in the other versions of the series.  Should Fann Wong take up the part,  and no matter how well she plays it, I guess the critisims will still be there and might even be doubled since she is always the victim of such critisims.  It is really a pity." -- JuS ( jus@post1.com )

"Why do I like Fann in either?  I find that no matter what role she is in, she really puts herself in the role and potrays a wonderful character!  Her character in the telemovie "Somewhere in Time" was really fantastic as her crying scenes were so genuine.

In "Brave New World", where she acted as a F&B manager, she obviously fitted into the role so perfectly.  I believe that Fann has convinced her viewers that she is capable of acting in Period Roles and Modern Dramas.  Keep it up, Fann! ! !" -- Pearly Kwok ( kwoklf@pacific.net.sg )

"As an actress, Fann has proven that she can handle most roles well. So far, in the roles that were allocated to her, she potrayed the characters wonderfully. Fann does look a little funny in period dramas. Regardless of that, she acted naturally, covering the flaws of the the drama. Therefore, I can safely say that Fann is "fann-tasic" in all." -- Fann's Supporting Group ( fsg08@hotmail.com )

"Fann's the greatest ! ! !  Be it in modern or period dramas, she is able to bring out the best of the character. And be it in modern or period dramas, both are able to bring out the best of her acting skills. She truly is one of the most versatile actress I have known. Continue to support her alwiz ! ! !" -- Eileen ( cloud96@mbox2.singnet.com.sg )
