Matt and Jodi are having a little problem: Steve wants to take "artistic" photographs of Jodi for his term-project. Matt does not want her to pose for such photos and that is exactly why she agrees to do it. Both Con and Matt are very curious about these pictures. Con wants to make calendars and sell them. Finally the pictures are ready and they find out that Steve just took pics of Jodi's knee, her feet etc. Very "artistic". Matt realizes that he did not trust Jodi enough, so they make up again.

Steve gets a parcel from his mother. She sends him a self-knitted pullover. When he goes to see her, he meets a girl wearing the same pullover. She turns out to be his half-sister Allie. His mother is not happy to see him. Not only hasn't she told him about Allie but Allie doesn't know about him either, she even starts flirting with him. Steve can't take it so he tells Allie that she is his sister. She is angry at him at first, but the next morning she waits for him in front of the school to tell him that she does not hate him.

In the afternoon they go to the beach. There they meet Matt, Jody and Dani. Jodi has promised Matt to try to learn surfing (he thinks they should have at least something in common). But Jodi is not very good at it so she gives up after a couple of tries and they start an argument, but finally agree to stick to their individual hobbies. Allie wants to borrow Matt's board. She is quite a good surfer, but when a guy kicks her off the board she hurts her arm. They take her to hospital in Peter's car, which Matt has taken without asking him. In front of the hospital the car gets stolen. Peter is furious and drags Matt to the police station.The police officer does not believe they will find it. However, they do, just without tyres. Peter makes Matt pay for new ones. Loraine (Steve's mother) is very upset that Allie is hurt and she tells her not to see Steve anymore, but in the end Allie and she go to the warehouse and Loraine apologizes.

Deloraine promises Matt that he can have his car for the weekend if he scores over 90. This makes Matt and Jodi study hard, too. Peter also wants to score high to prove that he is not stupid and not a Cro-Magnon. So he asks Allie who is good at science to help him in return for the driving lessons he is giving her. However, Steve thinks that there is something going on between them. So he interrupts them while they are geeking out for school and feels quite stupid after discovering the truth. Only Con and Kat think it's nerdy to study for the midterms. Helen, however, expects them to score well because they are pretending to be studying hard. Roberto discovers the truth and tells Con that his Mom will be very disappointed if his grades aren't good and so Con starts studying, too.

The day of the midterms arrives and the students sit at their science test, when suddenly Dani gets up and walks out like a sleepwalker and gets hit by a car. Sam blames Andrew for this accident and is convinced that his way of teaching is wrong. But when the results are out and Rivers has reached his best science grade ever, she's not so sure anymore. Bell is sorry about what happened to Dani. So he goes to visit her in hospital. He apologizes and tells her about this communications school where creativity is more appreciated than good grades. In the end the students drive to the hospital to take Dani home with Deloraine's car!

In literature class they read Romeo & Juliet. When Kat & Matt perform it Jodi is really jealous. The students think the play is old-fashioned and they want to "modernize"it. They make different suggestions who should write the modernization. Peter is against all these suggestions, so the students decide that he is to do it. Deloraine is afraid that Sam and Peter have to work together too closely, but she assures him that there will be no problem and that it will be good for his self-esteem. Finally Deloraine agrees to let them try, but there will be no budget. Rivers is going to be the director of the play and Con the producer. They agree to perform it at the shark-pool. But the students have to audition for the roles. There are a lot of fights about the roles. Con wants to be Romeo with Kat as Juliet, but Kat tells him that Shakespeare has to be spoken very loudly and dramatically (he really makes a fool of himself) because she wants Matt to get the part of Romeo. Jodi wants to be Juliet with Matt as her Romeo. However, Peter thinks Allie might be the best for that part. Steve is against it and he tells him more or less to leave her alone.

When Allie asks her parents to allow the transfer they are against it ,esp. when they find out that she started there without their knowledge.

Allie gives Steve their great-grandfather's watch. When they go on a class trip to the beach he gives it back to her, so she can keep it at a safe spot. However, after the swimming it is missing. Bell and Allie think it might be stolen so Bell wants to check all the students bags. Now everybody is against Bell, Steve and Allie. The next day the watch is found. It stuck between two lockers. But still it is not completely forgiven.

The students are also angry with Peter, because they think his methods are too weird. He really takes it seriously and wants them to work on it like professionals. Allie agrees to help him and finally they all make up again and the play is going on. Kat gets to play Juliet with Matt as her Romeo. During a rehearsal Allie's father comes in and wants to take her out of the school, but Steve and Mr Bell (esp. him) calm him down and finally he agrees to let Allie stay and he even makes up with Steve. After Bell apologizes for his suspicions the students forgive him too.

Meanwhile the HBH-kids rehearse for Rivers´interpretation of Romeo and Juliet.Kat and Matt are to play the main parts.Kat suspects that something is wrong with Roberto and therefore she asks Helen what´s wrong.Helen confides in her and tells her about his disease.So Kat drops out of the play and tells Con about Roberto.She asks him to pretend not to know anything about it.

Because Kat has dropped out of the play Rivers must recast the Juliet part.Steve suggests Allie because she loves the play and knows the lines by heart.Rivers agrees and Allie plays Juliet.

Finally the performance of the play becomes a huge success and meets with much approval

Sam is looking for a fellow occupant.Andrew asks her whether he could move in.She is not very enthusiastic about it but finally she agrees.

Matt and his group(Steve,Dani and Allie) blame thew chemistry factory for the pollution.Therefore they trespass illegally the factory ground and investigate a sewer.Unfortunately a security guard arrests them.The boss of the factory,Nigel Oliver,is lenient and takes them only to Deloraine,who urges Matt to stop it.But Matt remains stubborn especially because he wants to prove Jody wrong and show her that he is committed to something.But Jody thinks that what he has done is useless and too dangerous.So they argue again.She concludes that they have little in common and that they are on the verge of splitting up.But they want to try again and so plan to go out next evening.

Nigel Oliver comes to the science class to clear up any kind of "misunderstanding".He says that the factory does care about the environment but the class don´t believe him.

Meanwhile Andrew has examined the fish and tells the class that it is poisoned.Because they need more evidence Matt once again goes to the sewer.There he meets Andrew who takes sewage samples.He gives them to Matt and he takes them to a lab.The results confirm that the sewage is toxic.He tells it Jody but she does not care about the results and his commitment.Instead she is disappointed that he has forgotten their date.

Andrew has spent the whole night investigating the sewer.Sam rides on her motorbike to the factory and rescues him from the security guard.He is so happy about the results and the rescue that he kisses Sam.

Nigel comes to Deloraine´s office and talks to Andrew and Matt.He supposes that Matt has been to the factory again but Matt has an alibi.Of course it has been Andrew who has been almost caught by the security guard but Oliver has confused him with Matt.Andrew and Matt take Oliver to task about the toxic sewage.He says that the toxic substances don´t exceed the limits,which is true.So Andrew threatens that he will publish the results and let the people decide on the sewage.That would mean bad publicity for the factory.Deloraine gets very upset about the pollution and so he throws Oliver out.

Steve and Dani take photos of all the students and teachers at Hartley.They also photograph Deloraine while he is working out with dumb-bells.So he forces Steve to give him the film and then he(Deloraine) destroys it.He asks Steve what he thinks about an exhibition of his photos at Hartley.Steve replies that he is not ready yet for such a big thing but in the end Deloraine gets his way.

There is a new singer at the Shark Pool.It´s Tim Beckett alias Jim Scully.He is a famous singer trying to relaunch his career after big problems with alcohol.He sees Jody there and tells her that he likes her lyrics.

Steve and Dani fall in love with each other again and they kiss each other in the photo lab,although they are afraid of spoiling it again.

Hugh wants to coax Norm into another shady dealing.But Norm promises Rivers that he won´t do it and that he is"clean" now. Then they both go looking for a job but they can´t find any.Although Norm has promised not to do anything illegal again,Rivers finds out that he has lied to him again.So he talks to Sam about his father.She suggests that Norm should surrender voluntarily to the police which would mitigate the sentence and sooner or later he´d be arrested anyway.But he refuses.Rivers sees only one way how to prevent Norm from doing the deal:He goes to the police and tells them that Norm surrenders voluntarily.he takes them to the hide-out and the police arrest him.

Meanwhile the exposition has been inaugurated,with Deloraine´s photo,because Steve has given Deloraine the wrong film.But fortunately everybody likes the picture.

Bill is mad at Rivers for telling the police about him.He doesn´t want to talk to Rivers anymore and so Sam talks to him.She asks him to discuss the situation with Rivers.So eventually Norm and Rivers thrash out their problem.

Jody and Matt have split up.Now Matt dates Allie and finally Con and Kat have got closer to each other as well.

Andrew and Kat are dissatisfied with the meals offered at the school canteen cause it´s mostly junk food.Andrew supposes that the students´ wrong diet causes a drop in their performance.So Kat suggests an alternative: She wants to prepare vegetarian meals and sell them during the break.She is convinced that the students will like it.Deloraine gives her two days to test it.Con on the other hand,a big champion of junk food,enters into competition with Kat by opening up a hot dog stand,which bugs Kat a lot.On the first day Con sells much more than Kat but on the second day Deloraine forces him to shut down his stand because Matt and him have got sick after eating his hot dogs.So the students go over to the competitor,to Kat.

Andrew finds out that Sam had a relationship with Peter.She says that it´s definitely over but he has still problems to deal with it.Peter still loves Sam and is jealous.

Jody´s rehearsals at Tim´s are a complete failure.He says he doesn´t like the sound of her songs.Jody goes off in a huff and cries.He takes to the bottle again and gets pissed.Afterwards he goes to the Shark Pool but is unable to sing. Steve takes photos of him(important for next episode!).

Allie hangs often around with Steve,but Dani wants to spend more time with him alone.Therefore Allie starts thinking the reason why they aren´t as often together with her as usually is that they don´t like har anymore because she dates Matt.She feels cut dead by them.But Dani tells her that she does like her and that she only wants to spend more time with Steve.

Tim apologizes to Jody for being abusive to her.He says that this and his boozing are due to the fact that his wife has left him and that he cannot write songs anymore.But the next day he comes to her with a brand new song which he has written over night.So he has finally come to grips with his life again.

Tim has managed to get a record deal for Jody but there is a snag: She must change her manager,who is Con.Although she doesn´t want to she agrees because she needs an experienced manager.She doesn´t know how to tell it Con.What makes it even more difficult for her is that Con is already looking forward to a succesful career with her.After telling it him he is disappointed and hurt.

Kat applies for a vacancy at a dance academy and has to dance in front of a jury.She practices very hard and eats very little because she thinks she´s too fat.Peter,still craving for Sam,makes up to Kat in order to make Sam jealous of him.But Kat sees through his plan.

The newspaper Steve works for publishes under the title "ex-star hits skid-row" a lurid story about Tim together with his potos he has taken of Tim when he was drunken at the Shark Pool.Steve wanted to draw the editors´attention to himself with the photos. Jody is mad at the article and Steve,cause it has ruined Tim´s comeback.Steve feels lousy about it.He gives up the job at the newspaper and apologizes to Tim.

Matt still doesn´t know what to do.He only wants to surf.Sam suggests he should surf for a while till he has found out what he wants to do.Deloraine is upset about Sam´s suggestion but eventually she convinces him.

While dancing at the academy Kat loses consciousness due to exhaustion.Fortunately there is Con to help and solace her.She wants to try next year again.

Jody drops out of school to go on promotion tour for her single.She goes to Con and wants to say goodbye to him but he cannot hide his disappointment and anger.So he says he doesn´t wanna see her again.Jody goes off crying.

The teachers are on strike.Sam takes part in it while Andrew thinks that it´s a left-wing thing and doesn´t participate.This shows clearly how different they are.And he is still jealous of Rivers.

The hbh-bunch play truth or dare.Matt is asked whether he has already slept with Allie.He doesn´t want to bring Allie and him into a sheepish situation and so he opts for dare.Therefore he has to wear Helen´s bridal gown and rollerskate in the school yard.Kat talks about her last love affair in Greece.So Con becomes jealous.Kat asks Steve who he is closer to:Lucy or Dani?He replies: Dani.But she doesn´t believe him and is upset that he has replied at all.Slowly but surely the party gets out of head with people fighting and serving themselves in the kitchen.Con knows why Kat has given the party and is mad at her.Afterwards he goes to Jody and apologizes to her.He says that she was right to choose an experienced manager.

Meanwhile the party has ended up in utter mayhem.One gatecrasher even hits Rivers with a sports cup and he passes out.After the party the whole house looks like a rubbish dump.Con is devastated.Even worse,his parents phone him up and say that they´ll be back earlier than planned namely in about 30 minutes.With the help of his friends he gets to clean up the mess in time.Nevertheless his parents rumble Con and Kat because Effie has betrayed them.Con still furious about Kat says that their relationship is over.

Allie has run away from home because she has trouble with her parents and so she wants to move into Jody´s former room for a few days.Jody´s tour has been cancelled because her single has gone very bad.In order to promote it Con and the others air it on Hartley High´s new school radio "Radio Hartley".Con is the DJ assisted by Matt,Allie and Dani.They air Jody´s song by using the frequency of another big station,illegally of course.In the meantime Jody moves back to her room and throws Allie out.She still thinks that Allie has slept with Matt but Allie denies it.

Andrew wants to impress Sam by buying a motorbike.He asks Rivers to help him buy one because he has no idea about bikes.They buy a used one but Sam isn´t happy at all.She says it´s scrap and that it doesn´t fit his personality.

Deloraine comes across Radio Hartley´s illegal transmission and so he closes it down.Thanks to Radio Hartley Jody´s single sells better.To improve the sales even more they wanna play the song once more.They sneak into the station at night and play it.Effie phones the station and urges Kat to talk to the DJ,Con.She explains all to him and says that she loves him.He is very moved and forgives her.Now she is ready to sleep with him as well and they do it.

Jody´s single is doing very well now and thus she can go on tour now.She allows Allie to move into her room.

Sam´s and Andrew´s relationship is on a high as well.All of a sudden Andrew asks her to marry him but she just stares at him horrified.

Sam tells Andrew that she feels too young to get married.That puts a full stop to their relationship.Peter goes to Sam and tells her that he still loves her.Even though she doesn´t want they kiss each other passionately and exactly then Andrew appears and sees them.He is mad at Sam and says that she thought of Peter when sleeping with him.She sees that she has no future at Hartley and hands in her notice.Peter comes across it and talks to her.She says that the kiss was a mistake but he pegs away and wants to run off with her.She replies almost crying that it´s over and forces him to leave.She apologizes to Andrew and admits that she still loves Peter and that she tried to repress all memory of him but of no avail.

Deloraine´s supervisor visits him in the hospital and tells him that Hartley needs 25 more enrolments than originally planned.So Deloraine returns to school earlier than recommended.Meanwhile the class start a campaign to encourage more pupils to enrol.Con wants Jody to perform for the campaign.He asks her after a long search but she refuses.He is very disappointed and tells her that she has changed a lot since she has become a star.

Peter doesn´t know whether he should run off with Sam.Steve suggests that he should. And finally he does run off with her(farewell, Peter!).

The class have failed to get 75 enrolments.But suddenly Con appears with Jody and she delivers a blazing speech for Hartley.So she convinces more students to enrol and Hartley is rescued ! All´s well that ends well!
