Azure green eyes gently opened to the soft glow of the mourning sun. With a soft moan, they turned to the glowing red clock.
7:55 a.m.
"Oh Hell! I'm going to be late!" Ree jumped out of bed sending a little green kitten flying to the gray carpeted floor.
"Ree, would you be more careful!" Iris curved inward to strecth her tiny muscels.
"Damn! Why didn't Mom wake me?" Never before this week had she been late to school. "Why the hell didn't my alarm go off?" Ree threw on her freshly washed school uniform and began hurridly brushing her crimson hair.
Iris turned her face away from the frantic girl. "Oh, sorry Ree. I turned off your alarm."
Ree paused in the middle of placing a stark whit bow into her hair. "You...what?!!"
"It was loud and I had a headache. I wasn't thinking, sorry."
Anger rushed through her every limb as she returned to brushing.
And then, she relaxed. There was nothing that could be done, and Iris was just a little kitten.
Ree turned to pet the soft fur a top Iris' tiny head. "It's okay. Don't worry about it." She smiled and then rushed out to breakfast.
In the kitchen, while she hurridly ate two pieces of toast while throwing together a bologna sandwitch, she realized her parents were gone and so they could not have waken her.
Oh well, there was no time to dwell.
She grabbed her mahognony backpack, running out the oak wood door with one minute to spare.
* * * * * *
"Ree? Rhea Myaki!"
Long lashes rose up as azure green eyes were revealed. "Yes..."?
"No sleeping in class!" A fist of rugged skin landed hard in an open palm.
"Sorry, Ma'am." But she was tired. She let her eyelids fall halfway across her eyes and rested her cheek upon her soft fist.
So late. She was up until four a.m. And she wasn't able to fall asleep till 5:00 a.m.!
Damn. She hated being a Sailor Senshi. How could she ever had thought it would be so great?
If Jade knew, she'd be called upon to find a better city. But she wouldn't have that.
She had to kill that Senshi.
What was her name? Her planet? The powers Krystillia had viewed durning Pharaoh's fight used by the senshi all began with a call for the help of mother Earth.
Earth. She was Sailor Earth.
"I call upon the winged beast who is called by the name of Mist."
A giant flash of orange and scarlet.
A horrid scream filled the air, and when the clash of power had faded, there stood a howk of brown and gold.
Krystillia sauntered over to the hawk who is called Mist. She placed a hand of soft flesh upon the feathered down of the bird's head.
"Oh Mist. You must kill that Sailor senshi. For me, for Pharaoh."
The hawk, which stood seven feet figh, nuzzeled Krystillia with his deep orange beak.
Krystillia brushed her slender fingers over the purple mark upon his forehead.
"Now go, and gather me energy as well." So Lord Jade won't know.
She would kill Sailor Earth, so it would not matter, anyway. She would just tell Lord Jade that poor Pharaoh died of a severe--and sudden!--illness.
Pharaoh had been her favorite.
But Mist was better. Mist would dispose of that Sailor Bitch.
However, just in case....
* * * * * *Iris circled Silver Sphere Jr. High awaiting that final bell to ring.
Was school truely necassary to Ree? With her being a Sailor Senshi did she really even have the time?
The hoarse scream of a young man echoed through the suddenly still air.
Iris averted her eyes below the ledge on which she stood.
A hudge hawk of brown and gold was below, draining energy from several young victoms in flashes of orange and scarlet.
Iris ran to the window in which Ree could be seen, as she had done many times before.
Ree was in there, true, but how could she get her attention?
Iris reached up her tiny paws to scratch at the glass, only she was stopped by a rough tugging on the back of her neck.
* * * * * *Glass shattered.
Ree's head jerked to a classmate's scream.
She tilted her head to peer at what stood before the large pane of shattered glass. Light shinning through created a silouette of a magnificent bird, wings outstreched.
Ree jumped to her feet. "Oh Hell!"
Everyone was running around her, heading for the door as if all their fears will be closed with that green metal door.
But the hawk was strong, and fast. So fast. It grabbed several students before they could make their escape, draining the life energy from them
Ree had no choice, she ran out into the hall and pulled the fire alarm. Within moments the halls were filled with hundreds of identically clothed students.
She sank into a crevice of the wall where a water fountain was placed. She squeezed in tight, so no one would see.
She raised her arm, grasping the pen with the gray jewel from its place behind the bow on her school uniform.
"Earth power, make-up!"
* * * * * *Mist held the teacher, bleeding from the wound where he held her by the shoulders of her purple knit sweater.
"Hold it! Stop!"
A beautiful girl in a teal sailor suit stood by the open door.
Mist looked up, throwing aside the dieing woman onto a pile of two dead students who laid in a brilliant pool of blood. Only the girl at the bottom of the heap was not bleeding. The blood ran down like a fountain from the teacher and the girl inbetween the two. A waterfall of blood and sweat.
Mist's eyes turned towards the Senshi.
The energy from this girl, the pure light.
Sailor Earth.
'You must kill that Senshi for me, for Pharaoh.'
The giant bird came forward.
What the hell, the school was already wrecked. And she needed time off. Time to be a super hero.
"Okay, here it goes." She lifted her arms high and spined in the air, hair curving around her whole.
"Earth Sandstorm attack!"
Millions of timy brown particles pierced the giant wing of that hawk. And one, headed straight for it's throat, piercing the a lung or wind pipe, prehaps, because it stoped short and screamed a horrible scream.
Sailor Earth bent over and pluged her ears, shutting her eyes tight.
It screamed and screamed. And then, it simply stopped.
She looked ulp. It was lying on the floor, wing covering overturned desks, head resting upon the gruesome pile of bodies.
It was dead.
"Damn you, Sailor Earth."
"What?!" No one knew her name. She turned, truely stunned.
There she saw a tall blonde woman standing behind her. She looked young, older than Ree. Her eyes were the color of emerald and her skin was so very pale. And in her blue gloved arms she held a kitten with a heavy collar of metal.
"Iris!"
The woman's eyes lit. "Ah, so she is the pet of Sailor Earth."
Ree gritted her teeth and clenched her fists.
Krystillia let out a small laugh. "Now you must know how I feel, my dear Sailor Senshi."
Ree gestured to show confusion.
Krystillia raised up her free arm and shot a bolt of energy into the tiny ball of fluff.
Iris shut her eyes in pain.
Ree cringed. "She's just a kitten!"
Krystillia laughed at that over-used--and slightly altered--line. "Alright, here is what I propose; do no more harm to my great pets and I shall not harm yours. This collar," she grazed the surface of the sleek ebony color around Iris' pigmy neck, "will cause your kitten to feel every sliver of pain you case my pets. Every time you cause them to bleed, to flinch, the same will come to her. One more death means her life."
"You can't, I won't let you!" Ree closed her eyes and raised her arms, "Earth...."
"Wait! I hold her now! Kill me and you bring death to her!"
Ree lowered her arms. They dangled carelessly at her waist.
"Good, I see we've reached an understanding." She vanished in a cloud of silver powder.
