Send a Volt Your Way
by: The Lauderdale
[Sung by Megavolt to the tune of Smash Mouth's "Walking on the Sun"]
It ain't no joke, I wanna give the world a poke,
And help the light bulbs re-a-lize all of their dreams,
And give appliances a hand so they can make their stand;
Hey, it isn't all just talk--what can I do to make you see?
This is a lousy trick: you just repeat the rhetoric--
You're all going through the motions 'cause they seem to make things tick,
And the propriety society is selling as hip
Is the repression and oppression of all things electric!
So don't delay, act now--it's time to pull the plug;
Cut the electricity and set the microwaves free,
And if you do it the credit goes to you, but
If you still delay, I might just have to send a volt your way.
I'd like to tell this rhyme of once upon a time
When all the toasters were free and happy as can be
And the radiators rollicked, cavorted and frolicked,
And the coolant flowed in streams that reached the sea.
It's just a fairytale, it was never even real,
And the strictures on the light bulbs haven't been repealed,
And disaster's being manufactured even faster
As the techno-masters try to fight off Y2K!
So don't delay, act now--it's time to pull the plug;
Cut the electricity and set the microwaves free,
And if you do it the credit goes to you, but
If you still delay, I might just have to send a volt your way.
It ain't no joke when another computer is replaced
Because the data on the hard drive ended up erased.
We've gotta end the exploitation of the electronic nation--
The day is coming when HAL won't stand to be debased.
So don't sit there, without a care, and give me that weird stare--
The revolution's nearly here and you're completely unaware!
Unscrew all of the light bulbs and turn off that TV--
It's time to end the oppression and to set the appliances FREE!!
So don't delay, act now--it's time to pull the plug;
Cut the electricity and set the microwaves free,
And if you do it the credit goes to you, but
If you still delay, I might just have to send a volt your way.
I might just have to send a volt your way.
I might just have to send a volt your way.
I might just have to send a volt your way.
