The Slayers is a comedy series that is set in medieval times where swords ans sorcery run
rampent. The series starts off with Lina Inverse attacking a group of robbers with magic.
She burns the place to the gorund and gets away with all the loot.
Lina Inverse is a sorceress and her main goal is to get as much money as she can and
to comsume mass quanties 'of food', usually by stealing the goods from
bandits(Does that make it ok?). She eventually meets a swordsman named Gurry
(a knight with not very much brainpower)
who helps to battle against the forces of evil.
This is a very funny series which gets you laughing a lot, sometimes even gets you rolling (good stress relief too!). The animation is good but not the best, and it is good for a comedy anime though. This style always seems to have another look to them anyway, and Japanese humor differs from American some, but can still be very funny. The Spells are nice to watch, they have a nice look to them. The story is well done, it flows smoothly like any anime should. Lina and Gurry are constantly making fun of each other. Gurry is always treating Lina like a child and teasing her about her breast size, which gets quite funny. This is a good change of pace from the normal serious "take no bull" anime that is out there.
So far only FOUR are released because Software Sculptors wasn't able to afford it or something.
I did hear recently that their is a chance for the release of a FIFTH one and if it does
well, more will come out, but that is all I have heard and I have not seen any new ones
as of yet. It's too bad really, this is a very entertaining series. If Software Sculptors
can't afford it they should let MANGA or someone pick it up and not let US hang like this!
