Vampire Hunter D starts out when a young woman gets bitten by a vampire, shortly there-after
D comes into town. D soon finds out by Doris that the night before she was attacked
the vampire, being a vampire hunter and asks him to kill "Count Magnus."
She tells him that his castle has been dormant for many years, that was until last night.
When he was here before he tormented the town,
and last night she saw the lights in the castle lit.
Then making his presence known to the village he attacked her,
while she was checking out the castle. He bit her claiming her for his own,
promising to come take her to the castle the next night to become his bride.
This is not an easy task for D considering that the count is a vampire that is said to be over
5,000 years old and possesses incredible power. D himself is not a weakling, little does the
count know but D is a dampiel, half human, half vampire. His vampire side is also from a great
heritage which bestows great power upon him as well. Now the battle begins.
Vampire Hunter D (VHD) is one of my favorite Anime movies of all time,
I have seen it MANY times!
VHD is very well done and easily reminds me of the Castlevaina series.
Now, VHD has been out a while (1985) and it doesn't show its age as well as others from
this time period, that’s a good thing. It is smooth and very well drawn.
Much like the animation, the music is just as good. Like any soundtrack it helps set the mood
and creates an enjoyable experience for the viewer, but the most important part of a movie
or series is the story. If you couldn't tell I really like the story,
and the uncanny likeness to Castlevaina(Yes VHD was out first).
Its so cool that D is a half vampire and hunts vampires, cause he hates that side of himself.
Throughout the movie you find out the source of D's incredible strength, which is a nice
is a nice addition to the story.
If you haven’t seen this yet you may be living in a cave and I do recommend VHD very highly,
especially for vampire or Castlevaina fans.
Who knows this movie could have been the inspiration for the Castlevaina series
(Which you really should play if you haven't).
You can find it for rent almost anywhere, it is well worth buying too.
So if you want to see it you should have no problem seeing it tonight.
