One of the many dangers we had in Bosnia was getting shot by the UN for walking into their base with mud on our shoes. Gary not wanting to see Fiona shot, did a very commendable job. I do not think he approved very much of me documenting the event.

We had great times together. Fiona was then an ABC News producer and Gary was shooting for Newsweek. Fiona, Richard Gisberg and the then soundman Bashir where one of the best teams I had the pleasure working with. I had my birthday on this assignment and I was shocked when I actually received some birthday presents from them. I got a sleeveless shirt, a Bosnian pocket knife and a cigarette holder. Fiona did point out that it was the only things they could find in the war torn city of Travnic. Sweet!!. Can you imagine going birthday shopping in a war? How bizarre do things get sometimes. By the way I still have the presents.
