Diamond route, Central Bosnia
The snow and ice was one of the many dangers we had on the road. If we could help it we would travel in convoys of other journalists or the UN. On this day me and Johnny Saunderson where working for ITN on our way to meet our correspond ant Jeffrey Archer who came with the British Foreign Minister Douglas Hurt. We where in convoy with competitors BBC when the car lost power and slowly-slowly we made it to a British Army road post where we decided we could go no further. The BBC went on and they kindly gave the massage to Jeffrey that we maybe a bit late. We managed to get toed by an British Army Warrior tank to our base where we swapped to our second Land rover. We later found out that our first Land rover needed a new engine as the turbo blew and damaged the engine block. Guess what? No Land rover dealership in Central Bosnia. We had a new engine flown in and British Army engineers fixed it in.
