If the nest is in a safe place, away from too much human activity and away from the sea then a specially designed cage is placed over the nest. This cage allows the hatchlings to emerge from the sand and to head towards the sea but prevents foxes from digging up the nest and eating the eggs. A sign with a warning and a reference number is placed next to the cage.
