Born in Montreal, Khaner knew that she
wanted to become an actress at an early
age and was able to pursue her interest
when she turned 16 and was accepted at
Dawson College. She was able to study all
aspects of the performance arts, including
props and costumes as well as acting, at
the College's Dome Theater.
Khaner's first acting job was a featured
role in the 1981 television movie Escape
From Iran, which told the story of the
Canadian Embassy's rescue of American
diplomats. Since then, Khaner has enjoyed
success in series television, theater and
film.
Best known in Canada for her six years as a judge in the CBC drama Street Legal, for which she was nominated for a Gemini award, Khaner has guest starred in a host of series including Twilight Zone, E.N.G., The News Room and Tek War (which airs on Sci-Fi Channel). On the latter series, she guest starred in the episode Chill Factor which also featured Mission Genesis' Nicole deBoer.
Khaner has co-starred in several television movies including CBS-TV's Friends at Last with Kathleen Turner and Lifetime Television's Loss of Innocence (The Erica French Story) with Jill Clayburgh; The Margaret Sanger Story with Dana Delany and Deadly Love with Susan Dey. She also appeared in the feature film Videodrome with Debbie Harry.
The actress' theatrical credits include performances in the plays King Lear, Measure for Measure and Sexual Perversity at the renowned Stratford Festival. She also toured with the Festival with the play Twelfth Night.
