SYNOPSIS
As if the
difference in their ages wasn't enough of a problem, 49-year-old political columnist
Richard Barrington and his vivacious 23-year-old girlfriend Charley, a
free-lance photographer, were also at opposite ends of the political
spectrum: He was an archconservative and she was a "liberated" liberal.
Love somehow managed to keep them together, despite the stormy outbursts that occurred
when the subject of government and governmental policies happened to come up,
which was quite often, since this series was set in Washington D.C.
Al Brooks was Richard's assistant; his
girlfriend Lucy was a reporter for CBS News in Washington. Charley's roommate Ginger
was involved with a married Congressman; Wayne Joplin was a liberal senator
and friend of Richard's who usually sided with Charley in any disagreement
between the couple. When Richard became a special assistant to President
Carter, Ginger became his secretary and "super-hip" Carter aide Lanny Wolf
became a permanent member of the cast.
