SYNOPSIS

Starring in and also narrating this police drama that revolved around a special unit of the Chicago Police Department, was actor Lee Marvin.

The M Squad was an elite group of plainclothes Detectives working to fight organized crime in Chicago. Lt. Ballinger was one of the top Detectives who worked by himself, as did most of the members of M Squad. Ballinger was a hard-nosed cop with no wife or love life whatsoever. His commanding officer, Capt. Grey, assigned Ballinger to most of his special cases.

The original M Squad them had been composed by the show's music director, Stanley Wilson. At the start of the second season, the original theme was changed to a more jazz-oriented tune composed by the incomparable Count Basie, which became known as "Theme from M Squad".
