SYNOPSIS

In his early life, stage magician Tony Blake had spent time in prison for a crime he didn't commit. Prison had been no fun for a man of his background and had left him with a strong sense of concern for personal freedom and individual rights. Once he was released, he put his talents as an illusionist and escape artist to work helping people in danger and preventing crimes.

Syndicated columnist and novelist, Max Pomeroy, was a close friend of Tony's and was often responsible for bringing him clients. Max's paraplegic son, Dennis, although confined to a wheelchair, was also involved in the cases as was Jerry Wallace, the pilot of Tony's private jet, The Spirit.

The series moved to Monday nights in January of 1974 and Tony had taken up residence at Hollywood's famous Magic Castle where many of the world's most renowned magicians performed. Some of them were actually guests on the show. The magic acts performed by Tony Blake were also genuine - Bill Bixby himself was an amateur magician!
