Crowning Achievement

Here is a rare photo from the 1972 Miss Universe Pageant, held in Puerto Rico. In the picture, we see the new Miss Universe 1972, Australia's Kerry Wells, on her throne. Surrounding her are venerable host Bob Barker and runners-up and semifinalists, including Miss India, Roopa Satyan (foreground).

The 1972 Miss Universe Pageant represented a crowning achievement in the pageant's history. It was the first time the pageant was telecast live, via satellite, from outside the continental USA.

Next year, the Miss Universe Pageant will celebrate another crowning achievement in Puerto Rico - the 50th annual event. Congrats to Puerto Rico for hosting the golden anniversary! We are sure it will be spectacular. And who knows...maybe we'll see Kerry there!
