"The Rainbow Resplendent"

The rainbow nation of South Africa held its national pageant on December 12. Will the winner, Heather Hamilton, do as well as her recent predecessors Sonia Raciti and Kerishnie Naicker? Sonia placed in the top five at Miss Universe 1999 and in the top three at Miss World 1999. Kerishnie placed in the top ten at Miss Universe 1998 and Miss World 1998.

In the photo, we see Kerishnie as the new Miss South Africa 1997, with her court of honor, a truly resplendent rainbow. On Kerishnie's left is Petra van Zyl, second runner-up; on Kerishnie right is Jessica Motaung, first runner-up. Jessica competed in Miss World 1997, where she was second runner-up to Diana Hayden.
