"Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?"

On a recent visit to the Beauty School Student Lounge, one of our students, Brent, delighed everyone with a wonderful, enchanting story about meeting Miss Universe 1966, Sweden's Margareta Arvidsson, when he was a teenager.

Here is what he told us:

"I loved your article on Margareta Arvidsson, my favorite Miss U. I met Margareta when I was 13 years old, in 1966. At the time we lived in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. Our neighbour, Cecil Rutherford, was the President of Prestolite, one of the sponsors of the pageant.

"The Rutherfords had a party for Miss U. Margareta arrived in her official Miss U. car, which she parked in front of our house. All of the neighbourhood kids were out to meet her. I took a photo of her and got her autograph. I'd love to share them with you.

"I had never watched Miss Universe before meeting Margareta, but I have seldom missed it since. Co-incidentally, my other connection with Miss U. is that my brother knew Karen Baldwin while he was at the University of Western Ontario."
