July 4th is Independence Day in the USA, and in honor of this holiday we offer you a rare photo from the very first Miss USA pageant in 1952. This is one of our favorites because it is so dang silly.
Here we see a number of the contestants rehearsing for the
pageant. That is the future Miss USA, Jackie Loughery on the far
left. What amuses us so much is trying to figure out what in the
world they might be rehearsing for.
Nonetheless, just like the lovely ladies here showing off their legs, we are reminded that the pageant indeed has "legs" as well. (a theatrical term referring to a succesful production).
