Leader of the World

Beauty School was saddened to learn of the death this past week of Mr. "Miss World," Eric Morley. Mr. Morley was 82.

Morley devised the Miss World pageant in 1951, as part of the Festival of Britain. Since then, the pageant has grown in popularity around the world, and presently claims to have a television audience of two billion people.

Through the Miss World Pageant, Morley was a loyal, long-time supporter of the UK charity, The Variety Club of Great Britain, which had this to say about Morley: "Eric Morley was a giant man in every sense of the word, one of the great humanitarians of the 20th century. He will be sadly missed by all his friends throughout the world."

We agree.
