Answers:

1. Why a Collectors Page?

I have been collecting Looney Tunes for a while now and have yet to find any good resource for what items have been put out. There are many books that contain a little information but none that are really about just them. This site is an attempt to address that lack.

2. I know this item is out but it's not listed here?

I try to list everything I find but there are lots of things we never see. If you find something that you think should be listed here please Submit it to us! With everyones help we can fill in a lot of the blanks.

3. What does this abbreviation mean?

I have tried to keep abbreviations to a minimum but there are certain ones that we use throughout the site. For more terms check out our Collecting Terms page.

  • BV = Book Value, what it lists for(take this with a grain of salt-most of the time it's inflated)
  • HTF = Hard to find, this doesnt mean that there weren't a lot made-just that you can't find them.
  • OC = Original Cost, what it sold for originally. This can give you an idea of it's worth for items that don't have a BV.
  • U3 = Under 3, this refers to kids meal type toys mainly. They are softer plastic and non-swallowable.
  • USPS: United States Postal Service

4. The Book Value for this item seems awfully high?

You should always take the Book Value with a grain of salt. Too many books just use a formula to figure the value or base it on a few auction results. This almost always makes the price high. The best advice I can give is to pay what you feel it is worth. Very few collectibles are so rare that you can't find another one-so patience is definitely a virtue in collecting!

5. How do I link to you? Do you do reciprocal Links?

We have just started doing reciprocal links. Please check out our Links to see if we have a section appropriate for your site. You can see our links page here. If you would like to link to us please click here to see the Text and banner links that we have.

6. What is JAVA/Javascript?

These are actually 2 different items but for our purposes we can treat them the same. What they do is allow a program(often called an applet or script) to run on your computer. This allows us to add things to the site that you can interact with like games. Despite the rumors they are very safe things. The worst that can happen is that your browser will lock up or crash. Usually this is due to poor programming or having an older browser. If you are having problems with JAVA make sure you have a current browser. Netscape and Microsoft both make browsers that handle JAVA very well and all of our stuff should run in both. If you are seeing a message that you need to enable or turn on JAVA then you need to set that option on in your browsers options. To turn it on in MS Explorer 4.x click on the View menu and select Internet Options. Click on the Advanced tab and scroll down to the JAVA VM section. Make sure JAVA JIT Compiler Enabled is checked then click on OK. The menus should appear when you refresh the page.

7. Picture Questions

I will try to cover all these questions in one swoop. Almost all the pictures are around 500 pixels wide or tall. They are this big so that you can see the item-I've found that smaller sizes lose too much detail. We do however try to keep the filesize between 20-30k on all of them (lower if possible). We also try to show the original packing in the shot. This will help you know if that item on auction is really Mint in Package. We try to have a ruler in each picture too. This is to provide an idea of the size of the item. Between these three each picture should really be _useful_ to the collector. Nothing is worse than a fuzzy picture and a poor description!

8. I see the same item listed on different pages?

In order to make the site easier to use I have tried to list some items under different pages. For instance, a Bugs Bunny Christmas Cookie Jar would be listed under Cookie Jars and the appropriate Christmas page. This helps people who are only interested in a particular type of item. They will only have to look at one page to see the entire list of the ones that we know of.

9. What is a Webring?

A webring is a group of sites that all follow a theme. Usually this theme is the title of the ring itself, such as Looney Tunes Webring is a group of sites that feature content about Looney Tunes. To use the ring all you have to do is use the next button and you will go from site to site until you go in a circle and come back to your starting point. I don't recommend this method personally-we have provided a page that gives you links to the indexes for our favorite rings. If you view the index you can see the titles of the sites and pick the ones that interest you the most. -->Webring Indexes<--

10. I can't see any menus in the left frame?

This is because you have Javascript/JAVA turned off or you have a a browser that doesn't support JAVA. To save space and loading time we use Javascript menus. You will need to turn this on and reload/refresh the page to see the menus. To turn it on in MS Explorer 4.x click on the View menu and select Internet Options. Click on the Advanced tab and scroll down to the JAVA VM section. Make sure JAVA JIT Compiler Enabled is checked then click on OK. The menus should appear when you refresh the page. If you have a version of IE that is before 3.02 or Netscape 3.0 please upgrade them to a newer version-you will appreciate it!

11. I want to know when you put up new stuff or update the site?

You can always see the latest updates on our What's New page(reachable from the General Menu in the left frame) or if you would like to get them directly you can sign up for our Newsletter. It contains information on the site plus new LT items that we've heard about or seen.

12. I use AOL and the graphics on here look horrible, all messed up!

More than likely you are using the AOL browser and have it set to "Use Compressed Graphics". This tells AOL to try to compress graphics if it can. This results in faster download times but can also make the graphics look bad. If you see dots or lines on the pics or they are really blurry I would really suggest you turn this off-you will be amazed at how many sites suddenly look nicer. To turn it off go into My AOL and then Preferences. Go into WWW and click on the Web Graphics tab. Click on the checkmark beside Use Compressed Graphics to turn it off. You will probably have to close and restart the browser to make it take effect.
