Update! We've moved! The new-look quiz can now be found at the imaginatively titled www.BuffyQuiz.com -- I'm leaving this site up though, mainly 'cause I'm too lazy to tidy up after myself.

Blimey! I got an answer for the puzzle that's been lurking at the bottom of the page for months! And here was me thinking that nobody would ever get it. For anyone interested, the solution is at the bottom of the page.

Well, Buffy Season Four and Angel Season One have both ended over here in the UK, so I might kick off a new quiz in the next month or two. I'm still lacking an Internet connection at home, so they probably wouldn't be daily -- probably 2 or 3 updates a week. I'm not sure what they'd be on, either -- I could just do Angel, and save the Buffy quiz for it's traditional December slot, or I could do a bit of each and have a mixed one in Advent as well. Watch this space...

Anyway, all of the questions from the 1998 and 1999 quizes are still available for those of you who've just found this place. Click "Play" for the 1999 quizes (mostly Passion to the end of Season 3), or "1998" for the, erm, 1998 quizes (Season 1 to mid season 2). That's 480 questions, so I hope you know your Buffy...

Hopefully I will return in the not-too distant future with a Buffy Season 4 and an Angel quiz. Of course, if anyone wants to buy me a nice big house with a phone line then that would speed things up a bit...

Okay, so as promised, here's a little puzzle for you all, inspired by something I saw in the Sunday Times a few weeks ago:

Observe that the words APPLES, CIGARS, CUCKOO, REGROW, SPLEEN and WALNUT can be placed in a 6x6 grid as shown:

WALNUT
CIGARS
SPLEEN
APPLES
CUCKOO
REGROW
And we've spelled out Willow and Rupert on the long diagonals.

Now, arrange the following words in an 12x12 grid to spell two more characters from our favourite show on the long diagonals:

ASPHYXIATION
BENEDICTIONS
CATERPILLARS
CONSTRUCTING
EARTHSHAKING
GUARDIANSHIP
NONINDULGENT
PROFITEERING
REFRESHMENTS
SLEDGEHAMMER
UNFAMILIARLY
XYLOPHONISTS

Good luck! It's not as hard as it looks.

Here's a more challenging one.
Place the following words (or pairs of words -- ignore the spaces) in a 10x10 grid to form two names on the long diagonals, plus another couple of names hidden elsewhere:

ENCAGED YAK
ETHNIC BOND
EVERYWHERE
FASHIONING
INFANTHOOD
IRRATIONAL
JOHNNYCAKE
NETWORKING
SNAKE BAKER
STEALTHILY

Okay, respect is due to Kay Davies who got it right first. And extra points for emailing the table in HTML format, to save me doing it myself!

The hidden names, of course, were Jack O'Toole, Ethan Rayne, Faith and Anne.
