Your lyrics for tonight:

"I'm cold and I'm ashamed, bound and broken on the floor"
from "Torn" by Natalie Imbruglia
**
The whole universe was cold to the touch.
I could see a million and a half stars from where I lay, flat on my back.
My whole body ached, ached so much that I knew if I moved I would end up
screaming involuntarily, but that pain was nothing compared to my heartache.
It was that particular ache that threatened to make me throw up.
Somewhere inside of me I knew I needed to get up, get some help, before someone
came along and found me like this.
The cold ground pressed against my back.
I tried to push myself into any position resembling upright. A whimper escaped
my mouth despite the fact that my teeth were clenched against the pain. I
was shivering badly, and my body was shaking violently with sobs. Tears choked
my throat and blocked my vision. My breath puffed out in front of me, white
against the February darkness.
I somehow ended up on my hands and knees. The bushes snagged my hair and
tried to tangle my clothes in themselves as I crawled along the best I could.
Towards the openness of the park.
Towards the place that had shattered my world.
A soft cry was torn from my body when my hand scraped against a sharp object.
I raised my hand into a patch of moonlight and caught sight of the dark fluid
flowing from my palm.
More blood.
Hadn't I seen enough for one night? I bit down on my lips to keep from screaming
at the unfairness of life. Like that would do me a bit of good now.
A shadow appeared above me, and I heard the sound of the bushes being shoved
roughly apart. I closed my eyes tightly. A scream rose in my throat.
Then I heard my name.
"Elizabeth?"
