"Elizabeth?" the voice repeated.

And I knew that voice.

Lucky Spencer.

My eyes opened of their own accord. His face showed his horror at my appearance.

"Elizabeth. Oh my-" He cut himself off by bending over quickly and grasping my upper arms to pull me up off the ground. I was halfway to my feet when my legs went nerveless and I began to collapse.

Lucky seemed to realize what was happening and hefted me up and towards himself.

I was finally free of those bushed as I fell against him. I was shaking all over. Lucky let his arms settle around my waist with the most gentle pressure.

"Elizabeth?" he asked worriedly. "Are you ok-" He held me away from the warmth of his body and finally got a look at my body. He let out a string of curses and then had to pull me close again when my legs weakened for the second time.

Lucky took a step sideways and back and lowered us to the stone bench where this nightmare had started. My eyes noted the popcorn scattered on the ground. I stared at it until Lucky touched my shoulder, making me jump.

"What happened?" he asked, shedding his overcoat and looking very much like he might not want to know the answer.

I knew for a fact he didn't.

He swung the coat around my shivering body slowly and started buttoning it up.

I wanted to explain to him. My mouth opened.

"I-" I had to stop to swallow the sob that suddenly closed my throat. One hiccup escaped my lips anyway. "I was sitting here - my popcorn - I - I don't know -"

My brain was past forming any coherent sentences. Lucky finished buttoning and took my shoulders in his hands.

"Elizabeth," it was weird, but his voice sounded choked with tears too, "listen to me, okay? I have to take you to the hospital. You're hurt."

His voice crystallized in my brain, repeating his last two words over and over. It brought me out of my daze when he stood up.

"No!" Was that really my voice? "I-I'm fine."

He looked agitated now.

"No, you're not fine, Elizabeth!" The intensity of his voice shook me.

"I - I can't go to GH," I responded, a slightly hysterical note entering my voice. "They can't see me!"

Lucky shifted from one foot to the other in anxiousness. I could almost see the wheels of thought turning in his brain.

"Let me take you home with me, then," he finally gave in.

Home. Warmth. No more park. Home.

"Yes," I whispered, drawing a quavering breath. "Please take me home - with you."

Lucky stooped in front of me and scooped me off of the bench and into his arms. I turned my face into his shoulder and closed my eyes.
