My power is the mind.
Physically I'm weak, mentally I exceed all others.
I am Alakazam.
Warrior of Psychic.

I used to have a trainer, she was nice but others feared us both.
Feared our power.
Together we were in the future predicting and spirit contacting business.
She was old.
Had I been able I would've extended her life.
And shortened my own.
Just so we would die together.
But it was not to be.
Perhaps the spirits wished me to fulfill this role of a Warrior.
They are mysterious and obscure in their ways.
Maybe I'm part of a great scheme.
Or a great cosmic joke.
I wouldn't put it past the spirits.

But with my Powers of the Future and the Spirits, sometimes I receive
images.
Sometimes warnings.
One such vision came last night.
The fuzzyness indicated sometime in the next year or so.
But the sense of danger I received from it was almost overwhelming.
I was actually shaking when I awoke.
My protege, a Hypno. Perhaps she would replace me sooner than I
thought.
Death was a part of the vision.
My death was there as well.
I will have to press Hypno's training.
So she is ready when I am gone.

When I first met him, I was almost floored by the power that radiated
from him.
But he has dark shadows over his head.
Much like the Warrior of Fire.

Mewtwo, one not borne of pokemon but of human.
A shadow of his brother, Mew.
He does not see it that way.
We are equals. Was all he said.
It was left at that.
I understand why he would not take my position.
It would make him a target.

However, the Warrior of Fire wishes to be a target.
I never quite understood him.
Charizards put their honour before much else.
Yet he kills without pause.
His anger is almost tangible enough to touch.
The shadows about his head are many and heavy, it is a wonder he
doesn't buckle from the weight.
But his shadows are lifting now.
All because of one boy.

I frown.
One of the spirits is very upset.
I manage to get the story from the little bird.
Hurriedly I teleport all the Warriors to the Warrior of Normal's territory.
The Charizard trying to kill the dishonoured Warrior is crying even as he
struggles to free himself from the holds of the Warrior of Fire and
Warrior of Water.
Marowak offers to deliver the death blow.
The Charizard's state affects her deeply.
I shall soon learn why this is.

A few weeks later.
I lift my head, the spirits are excited about something.
What could they be so happy about?
I turn to Hypno, she has noticed this as well.
I see, someone is coming.
Someone important to the pokemon spirits.
I ask Hypno if she knows why the spirits are excited.
She tries to connect to them as I do, but unsuccessful.
She will learn in time to hear them.

The spirits quiet as the children approach.
There is a Charizard and a Meowth with them.
My mind gently probes them.
Ah, it is the child of the Warrior of Fire's trainer.
We have been told to keep a look out for him.

I watch as they settle down for the night.
The boy reads from a book to Inferno, an infant Clefairy and a Marowak.
Soon all are asleep, except Inferno.
You may come out Warrior. He says in my direction.
He is very perceptive.
As I come out I notice a small spirit by his side.
So he has spoken the Oath.
All pokemon who have spoken the Oath, though they are few and far in-
between, gain a Guardian.
Only the spirit attuned such as myself know this.
May I ask you something Warrior? Inferno asks, I nod.
There is always a presence around my trainer Satoshi. With the help of
Butterfree I've discovered that it's a man and a Pidgey. Perhaps you
could tell me why they're always around him?
Inwardly I chuckle, he does not know of Guardian Spirits? Then I shall
have to enlighten him.
I tell him that a Guardian Spirit is assigned to the pure human souls and
keep them safe.
He looked noticeably relieved to learn this, I guess he had been worried.
Best not to tell him of his own Guardian Spirit until he's ready.

He settles down by the boy's side, there is a sort of charm about the boy.
I see why Warrior of Ground has allowed him a space in her heart
reserved normally for her children alone.
There is an innocence in him one would normally see within Angels.
I leave them alone for the night.
I will not interfere in their journey until it is time.

Will you not challenge them? Hypno asks as I return.
When the time is right my protege, we will fight. But we shall be fighting
together. I tell her.
I don't understand. She says, puzzled.
You will when you speak to the spirits.
Her look remains puzzled, her mouth remains silent.

I am Warrior of Psychic, Alakazam.
Now I understand why the shadows are lifting from the shoulders of the
Warrior of Fire.
Perhaps the shadows will lift from the shoulders of Mewtwo after all.
