Nik and Faithe’s room Bobby had just left to show Liz and Lucky to their room. “Well you’re quite the actress, huh?” Nik said smiling, as Faithe flopped on the bed and put her hands behind her head. “Oh yeah, Hollywood’s missing a star.” Faithe said sarcastically. “You would be a good actress.” Nik said honestly. “Nah, it’s too appealing to pretend to be someone else, I’d never want to be myself again.” Faithe paused for a second, her mind drifted into a place she didn’t want to go. She shook the memories of her family away, “Anyway, fooling the owner of a cruise line, does not an actress make.” Nik looked at her thoughtfully, ‘Did we just sort of have a conversation?’ he asked himself.
Lucky and Liz’s room (Next door)
“Wow” Liz said as she shut the door behind Bobby. “This place is beautiful, too bad we’re not here to enjoy ourselves.” “Yeah we might have to come back someday.” Lucky said with a sly grin. “Really?” Liz’s face lit up. Lucky laughed and got his laptop out of his bag and started hooking it up to power and phone lines. “Why’d you bring that? You gonna work?” Liz said teasing Lucky. “No, it’s so we can stay in touch with Dad. I said I’d e-mail him when we got here.” Lucky said busy and a bit distracted. “Can’t e-mails be traced?” Liz said sitting next to him on the bed. Lucky shot her a cocky grin, “Not when I do it.” “Oh I see, Lucky Spencer, the all knowing computer genius.” “Got that right!”
Nik and Faithe’s room 10 minutes later
Nik came out of the bathroom to find Faithe on the bed, completely enthralled in a book. ‘She reads?’ he thought to himself. In the week that Faithe had lived with him all she did was watch TV, or movies, or beat the socks off everyone at poker (even Sonny and Luke) Nik watched her for a minute, amused, as her face went through a number of different emotions: anticipation, shock, amusement, and then finally she burst out laughing. She didn’t even seem to notice Nik. “Faithe…hey Faithe, FAITHE!” He finally shouted. She jumped a little on the bed, “What?! You don’t have to shout!” she cried alarmed. “I called your name three times, where were you?” Nik said laughing “Somewhere in the 24th century.” Faithe said smiling sheepishly. “What?" Nik said, completely confused. Faithe held the book cover toward him in explanation. Nik bent down to look at the book and read, “Star Trek” “Well I have to admit that that is one of the many things about American pop culture I have never understood.” Nik said sitting on the bed next to her, a little too close in Faithe’s mind. She wasn’t going to let herself get close, physically or emotionally again. She got up quickly and walked to her bag to replace her book. “Well I’m a Sci-Fi freak, so sue me.” She said defensively, then added in a lighter tone, “Anyway, that particular book is hilarious.” Nik looked puzzled, “I thought Sci-Fi was supposed to be scary.” “It doesn’t have to be, especially with ‘Star Trek’. It has so many inside jokes, but it does take a true fan to appreciate them.” Faithe smiled slyly, “ Don’t worry Cassadine, I’ll get you hooked on ‘Star Trek’ in no time.” “Sure you will.” Nik said and laughing. Just then there was a knock on the door. Nik got up and opened the door. Liz and Lucky walked in. “Did I hear laughing?” Lucky asked in disbelief. “Faithe says she is going to turn me into a ‘Star Trek’ fan.” Nik said trying to stifle his laughter. “That is funny.” Liz said smiling. “I e-mailed Luke, so he knows we’re here.” Lucky said. “Good.” Faithe said, “So now we just lay low until Friday, right?” “Speaking of Friday, why did you tell Ricky that we’d go to the party?” Lucky said a little mad at Faithe for inviting disaster, especially when she should know better. “I don’t know about you, Lucky, but all this hiding is giving me a headache. I need a break!” Faithe said, “It won’t be for very long and we’ll be Puerto Rico the next morning. Relax Lucky!” Lucky let out a frustrated sigh, but backed down. Liz was smiling and looking forward to Friday.

Friday night The past few days had been interesting for Faithe. She was quite surprised with the fact that her and Nikolas had been getting along. Not only did she find herself not hating him, but, as long as she didn’t think of him as a Cassadine, she was actually starting to like him. Of course they still annoyed each other and argued a few times, but that was just because their personalities clashed a little. She didn’t hear (or was ignoring) the voice in her head saying over and over ‘opposites attract’. Friendship, she could handle that, right? She just couldn’t let him get too close. “Faithe, come on. It’s time to go.” Nikolas called from outside the bathroom door. “I’ll be right there” she answered. Faithe let out a sigh as she put the final touches on her makeup. She and Liz had gone shopping for dresses at the shop on the ship. She hated wearing dresses, but Liz convinced her that she couldn’t wear jeans. Her dress was simple, but elegant. It was floor length, and royal blue with a low (but not too low) neckline. She emerged from the bathroom fidgeting with her dress and her hair, which was down in soft curls. Nikolas had his back to her looking out the small window in their suite. He was wearing a black suit with a white shirt. When he heard the door open he turned around and was speechless. “Yeah I know, I look stupid in a dress, just don’t tease me too much.” Faithe said quickly. “No, you look beautiful.” Nik said quietly. “There are those manners again.” Faithe said with a small smile. Just then there was a knock on the door, Nik opened it and Lucky and Liz came in. Liz was wearing a long, black and silver dress. And Lucky was wearing a black suit with a black shirt. “Liz you look beautiful.” Faithe said smiling at her friend. “So do you, I told you that dress was perfect.” Liz said. “Both of you look wonderful, now let’s go and get this over with.” Lucky said impatiently. Liz hit him playfully on the arm and he smiled. Lucky had a bad feeling about tonight, but he knew he wouldn’t be able to convince the girls to stay in. All four of them left to go to the party.
When they got to the ballroom they just stopped and stared. Ricky had said “a private party for special guests’, apparently he had at least a hundred special guests. Almost the entire room was filled with people, there was loud music coming from a DJ at the far end of the room, most everyone was dancing and having a great time. “Now, this guy knows how to throw a party!” Faithe said approvingly, looking around the room. The four of them sat at one of the tables on the outskirts of the room.
About an hour later, the party was still in full swing and even Lucky had relaxed and was having a great time. Lucky excused himself, saying he had something important to do. When he returned he had a mischievous grin on his face. The music had stopped. He stood by Liz’s chair. Liz turned her head to look at him. He smiled and offered her his hand. “What are we doing.” Liz said only slightly puzzled. “Dancing” Lucky, said like she should already know. “Lucky, there’s no music.” Liz smiled; she knew where this was going. “Wait, wait. Do you hear that?” Lucky said pretending to listen. “No” Liz said “Shh listen, There it is” Just then the first cords of ‘My Girl’ began to play. Liz just smiled, stood up, and let Lucky lead her to the dance floor. Then they danced just like they had that night at his father’s club. “Wow” Faithe murmured quietly. “I know, I’ve only seen two other people who have Lucky and Liz’s connection.” Nikolas said knowing exactly what she was thinking. Faithe looked at him, waiting for him to continue. “As much as Luke isn’t my favorite person, him and Laura belong together, they have that same connection.” Nikolas said thoughtfully. “Makes you wish you had that, doesn’t it?” Faithe said looking back at Lucky and Liz. “Yes” Nikolas, said softly. When the song ended Lucky and Liz came back to the table. The DJ started to play a soft country song and Nikolas got to his feet. “May I have this dance?” he said to Faithe “Um… sure.” Faithe stood and let Nikolas lead her to the dance floor. Lucky and Liz looked at each other and smiled.
If you’ve never felt what happens when two hearts Fall together Or never seen love written in the stars And knew it was forever If you don’t that destiny Can start with just one wish
Nikolas’ arms encircled her waist and Faithe put her arms around his neck. She looked over his shoulder or at his shirt collar, anywhere but his eyes. She became increasingly aware of the feeling of peace that came over her. It hadn’t felt this good to just be held since… No her mind wouldn’t let her go there.
Watch this I’ll show you love Like you’ve dreamed of I’ve got so much to give Watch this Don’t be afraid you’ll be amazed At all the ways that I can Show you what you’ve missed Just close your eyes And watch this
Nikolas smiled. He knew she was fidgeting, not looking at him. He didn’t know if it was because she really felt uncomfortable or because she was afraid of how good this felt. A broken heart can’t always live in fear Afraid to fall I can make those feelings disappear In no time at all If you wanna feel the world stand still From the magic of one kiss Faithe raised her head and looked at his eyes…big mistake. Now she couldn’t turn away. He was smiling and his eyes looked so honest. How could she not trust those eyes? Easy, practice.
Watch this I’ll show you love Like you’ve dreamed of I’ve got so much to give Watch this Don’t be afraid you’ll be amazed All the ways that I can Show you what you’ve missed Just close your eyes And watch this
Faithe could feel her self being drawn in by his eyes. Her heart was about to explode; her heart wanted this so much. But her head was screaming NO! Her heart and head were battling for control. Finally her head won out and she quickly unwrapped herself from his arms and walked quickly from the room and onto the deck, taking deep breaths and concentrating on the cool ocean air.
Oh Baby Watch this
Nikolas closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Somehow in his heart he knew she would do that. He knew he had to talk to her. He found her not far from the ballroom, standing next to the railing, with the light breeze blowing in her hair. “Faithe, are you all right?” Nikolas asked “Yeah, fine. I just needed some fresh air.” Faithe said quickly “Well, it’s cold out here, why don’t you take my jacket.” He said quickly taking his jacket off. “No!” Faithe almost yelled, she took a deep breath to calm herself down, then said, “I’m fine.” “You’re shaking” Nik observed. ‘It’s not ‘cause I’m cold’ she thought, “I’m fine,” she said in a defensive tone, a little harsh. “I am only concerned, Faithe.” “I don’t need you’re concern!” She shouted. Her instinct was kicking in and she was getting mean. She knew he didn’t deserve it, but she wanted him to leave. “I thought Princes weren’t supposed to be concerned about commoners.” “Don’t call me that.” Nik said warned. “Oh, Prince Nikky doesn’t like his birthright?” She said with sarcastic pity. “I’m not the Damn prince, all right!” He shouted, he couldn’t believe he had said that. But he just couldn’t take her calling him that anymore. “What?” Faithe whispered in disbelief. “I’m Stefan’s son not Stavros’ all right.” Nik said as he turned away from her. “OH my.” Faithe covered her mouth with her hand, frightened at what that meant. “Then Ilias is the true heir” She whispered almost to herself. Nikolas spun around, “What?” He hissed, ‘She wasn’t supposed to know that!’ he thought. “How did you know that?” Faithe realized her mistake and tried to cover, “My father knew a lot about the Cassadines.” “No one outside the family knows that. Not even Luke until a few days ago. I didn’t even know until a couple months ago.” His eyes narrowed, “What is your connection to the Cassadines?” he asked quietly but with force. “I don’t know what you mean.” Faithe said defensively. “Tell me!” Nik said “All right, all right, I’ll tell you. Could you just please get me a glass of water or something please.” Nik looked at her suspiciously, “I just need to calm down.” She tried to convince him. Finally he nodded. “Stay here.” He walked off. Faithe turned to the railing, looking out towards the ocean. ‘Now I have to tell him.’ Faithe looked down at the water and contemplated weather avoiding Nikolas would be worth jumping off the ship. She chuckled slightly at that. She was so preoccupied that she didn’t hear the footsteps behind her. Suddenly a hand clamped over her mouth and she was being lifted off the ground by unfriendly hands. |
