Faithe-- Chapters 2 & 3

~2

Lucky and Faithe didn’t talk most of the way to Laura’s.
“So, how much did your father tell you about that?” Faithe asked quietly pointing to the dog that Lucky still had in his hand.
“Not much, just that if someone ever showed me something like this I was to drop what I was doing and help anyway I could.”
Faithe let out a sort of smirk “Yeah sounds like Luke. Just vague enough but still get the point across.”
Lucky looked at her a little surprised “Sounds like you know him pretty well”
"I guess you could say that. ” was all Faithe said as they walked up the porch of the Spencer house.  Lucky opened the door without knocking. “Mom?!” he shouted
“Lucky?!” Laura called coming out of the kitchen.  “It’s nice to see you.” Laura looked at Faithe for a moment, then put her hand out to her. “I’m Laura Spencer, Lucky’s mom.”
“I’m Faithe Reynolds” Faithe looked nervous.
“Reynolds?” Laura recognized the name but couldn’t place it.
“She gave me this Mom” Lucky said handing her the little gold dog.
Laura immediately put the name and the dog together and remembered what Luke had told her. “What do you need honey, what happened?” Laura said very worried about the girl.
“My Father was murdered two nights ago, I saw it happen.” Faithe looked down.  Laura put an arm around her but Faithe immediately pulled her head up and said in a strong voice said “I’m fine.”
Lucky’s mind went into overdrive with everything Luke had taught him.  “Did they see you, the murderer I mean. Did you see them?”
“I don’t think so, and they were wearing ski masks.”
“Were they looking for anything?” Lucky questioned again
“I don’t know. After they shot my father I heard one of them say that he was dead.  Then the other said ‘Where’s the girl’ and I just got out of there as fast as I could.”
“It’s good that you did.  You can stay here as long as you need to. How old are you honey?” Laura said
“18, but are you sure it’s a good idea that I stay here.  I mean, if they know anything about my father’s past they’ll know he had connections to Luke.”
“You’re right,” Laura said looking to Lucky for ideas.
Lucky still didn’t know exactly what was behind this but he decided there would be enough time for that later. “I have an idea, but it would mean bringing two other people in on this.”
“Who?” Faithe said cautiously
“Well you met one of them.”
“Not that Cassadine!?” Faithe said astonished
“I take it she met Nikolas” Laura said
Lucky nodded to Laura “Well actually yes, he can be helpful sometimes.”
“You’re a Spencer! How can you be friends with a Cassadine?!” Faithe asked in disbelief
“It’s a long story” Lucky said scratching head “He’s my brother.” Lucky noticed that this didn’t surprise her.
Just then the door opened, Lucky stood protectively in front of Faithe, but he relaxed when he saw who it was.
“Laura something strange...” Nik stopped when he saw Lucky and the mystery girl. Liz was right behind him.
“Speak of the devil! What took you guys so long to find us?” Lucky said with that Spencer grin on his face.
“Traffic.” Nik answered quickly.
Lucky laughed a little at Nik’s attempt at humor. Then turned back to Faithe, “Is this alright with you?” Lucky asked.
Faithe let out a sigh “I don’t like it, but if you trust him?” she said looking at Lucky.
Lucky sighed heavily, closed his eyes, scratched his head and said defeatedly “I do.”
He’d never wanted to actually admit that, especially in front of Elizabeth and Laura.  He figured Nik already knew somehow.  Liz and Laura exchanged a look.
“In that case” Lucky said turning to Nik and Liz,  “Faithe Reynolds meet Elizabeth Webber, my girlfriend, and you know Nikolas” Liz smiled and shook Faithe’s hand.
“Nice to meet you, call me Liz.”
Faithe smiled genuinely and seemed to relax.
“So, you knew I’d find you?” Liz said turning to Lucky.
“Yeah, if I didn’t I would have told you where I was going.” Lucky said flashing that famous smile.
Liz smiled back thinking, ‘when will that smile not make my knees go weak’
“So, what’s the story.” Liz asked turning to everyone else.
“Well sit down there’s a lot.” Laura said guiding them to the couch.

Laura had just finished telling Liz and Nik about Faithe’s situation, because she was sure Faithe didn’t want to tell it again.
“So where’s Luke? He probably wants to hear this.” Nik said trying to be helpful.
“He’s in New York City, but he’ll be back in the morning.” Laura said quickly, obviously thankful that Luke was telling her of his comings and goings. Their marriage had come a long way in six months, she thought. “You can stay here until Luke gets back, it’s only for one night I don’t think there’ll be any danger.” Laura said to Faithe.
“Actually I had an idea about a safer place.” Lucky said, “Since there’s a possibility these people know her family’s history, and might come here looking for her.  We should hide her someplace where they would never think of looking for her.”
“That’s great Lucky, but where?” Nik said with a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
Lucky looked at him, a little annoyed, and said “Well Nikki, how do you feel about a roommate?”
“What!?” Nik and Faithe said in unison, but Faithe’s voice was more of a yell.
“Now wait, just think about it,” Lucky said quickly, “Since our fathers probably worked together, that means your father probably had some ‘run-ins’ with the Cassaidines and hated them just as much as my father.”
Faithe nodded slowly, knowing Lucky had guessed the truth. She had been running from the Cassadines her whole life.
“In fact, we don’t know for sure of Helena or one of the other Cassadines wasn’t involved in this somehow.” Lucky said and then turned to Nik hoping his words hadn’t struck a nerve. “It’s alright Lucky, I know what they’re capable of.” Nik said knowing exactly what Lucky was thinking.
Faithe knew the Cassadines had to be behind this but she decided to wait until Luke got there.
Liz looked at Faithe and said “Lucky maybe Faithe would be more comfortable at my house.” Lucky opened his mouth to disagree, but Faithe cut him off.
“Thank you Liz, I would be more comfortable there, but unfortunately Lucky’s right, nobody would ever look for me anywhere near a Cassadine. But let it be known,” She said pointing a finger at Lucky “that I don’t like this idea, no matter how much it makes sense.”  Lucky smiled knowing he’d won.
Hey! Don’t I get a say in this? It is My apartment!” Nik said feeling like decisions were being made without him.
“Well, she can’t stay here or at my place cause they’ll look for her there, and they won’t look at your place, but I can still be close, and besides your apartment is bigger than mine.” Lucky said
“Well, I guess it makes sense, okay fine.” Nik said defetedly.
Now that that’s settled.” Laura said with a sigh, happy at seeing her boys working together. “Why don’t you all come in the kitchen and get some lunch before you leave.”
Faithe nodded, she was starving. She followed Laura into the kitchen with Nik behind her. Liz stopped Lucky as he started to follow.
“Why didn’t you want Faithe staying at my house.” She asked a little puzzled.
“Because if she’s there then that puts you in danger, and I can’t have that.” Lucky said
She smiled at his protectiveness, but turning puzzled again she asked “But now isn’t Nikolas in danger?”
Not as much cause I’m just across the hall.” Lucky responded.
Liz nodded. Lucky put his hand behind her neck and pulled her into a soft kiss. When they pulled away they both smiled.
“Come on let’s get some lunch.” Liz said taking his hand pulling him into the kitchen.
