Lucky opened his eyes slowly. Every muscle in his body ached, but he pulled himself up slowly to his feet. He looked back at what used to be Sonny’s warehouse, but all was there was a fiery mass of rubble. And the art gallery next to it wasn’t much better, but at least it was still standing. All the windows on the side near Sonny’s warehouse were blown out and the entrance had caved in. Lucky started to run towards the gallery but something out of the corner of his eye stopped him. There was a body lying about ten feet away. Lucky ran over to the figure that he knew instictfully was Robert.
“Oh G-d Robert no!” He hissed as he skidded to a halt next to Robert. He automatically checked Robert’s pulse and breathing. Lucky relaxed a little, his pulse was strong and his breathing was steady. Lucky pulled out his cell phone and pressed a speed dial button.
“Jones, get you’re a$$ down to Sonny’s warehouse yesterday! Robert’s hurt.” He said into the phone. He ended the call and dialed 911.
“Come on Robert, I don’t think this town could take the shock of you being wheeled into the ER.” Lucky rambled to himself.
“What the hell happened here Lucky!?” Frisco said as he ran up to them.
“That was fast.” Lucky commented.
“I was on my way here anyway.”
“That explains the suit.” Lucky said dryly looking at Frisco’s attire.
Frisco rolled his eyes and bent down to check on Robert. “How is he?”
“I think he was just knocked unconscious. His vitals are good. I called the police, they should be here soon.” Lucky said sounding worried. “Is there time to get Robert out of here?”
Frisco was about to answer when he heard the sounds of the ambulance sirens. “No I think we’ve run out of time.”
Lucky took a deep, calming breath. He knew Frisco wasn’t just talking about the ambulance.
Frisco looked back at the warehouse and the approaching ambulances and fire trucks. “I’ll go and help with the warehouse, you stay here and make sure Robert gets on the ambulance. After he’s on his way you stay here but hang back, the longer we can keep people from finding out about you the better since now it looks like Robert’s going to be discovered.”
“Frisco, that’s my family in there. I have to help!” Lucky said angrily and stood up. “You think I’m just going to sit around here while I might be able to do something!?! Fat chance!”
Frisco stood and stepped up to Lucky so that his face was only inches from his. He was only slightly taller than Lucky but the tone in his voice and the look in his eyes made him seem larger than life and slightly scary. Lucky hadn’t seen him like this since he had first met him. “Spencer, my guess is that you came here to take a sneak peek at your family and Robert followed you here. And now instead of you making an appearance to your family, Robert is going to return to the land of the living ahead of schedule. Plans have changed.” Frisco turned and jogged toward the firemen who were attempting to clear the rubble out of the entrance of the building. Lucky knew Frisco was just worried about Robert and about Faison but he still managed to be intimidating.

Elizabeth moaned and tried to move, but there was something on top of her and around her, like a coffin. Elizabeth opened her eyes and found that she was still surrounded by darkness. If she would have stopped and listened she would have heard people calling her name and trying to reach her through the rubble. But her mind was clouded with the past. She kicked at the confining debris around her and screamed. "Not again, not again!" ~*~
February 14, 2003
"Not again, not again." She whimpered as the heavy, sweaty body pinned her to the ground.
"Not a word." He hissed into her ear.
She stopped speaking immediately, but her whimpers just got louder. She had been locked up there, wherever it was that he had her, for days or more, tied to a chair. He hadn't done anything but leer at her till now. He had just suddenly stormed into the room, untied her, and thrown her to the floor.
He was ripping at the clothes on her body and his fingers came in contact with her flesh. "No one's here to rescue you this time Lizzie." He hissed in her ear, his tongue lightly grazing her earlobe. Elizabeth shuddered and bit her lip to try and keep the bile from rising in her throat.
"I don't need anyone to rescue me Tom!" She spat.
"Oh yeah, I forgot, Lizzie's all grown up now. And may I just say that you've filled out very nicely." Tom sneered as his hand roughly grabbed at her breast.
Elizabeth's body was racked with silent sobs and her whole body shook. "Noooo." She moaned
"Shut up!" Tom screamed and slammed her head against the floor forcefully.
The world blurred for Elizabeth for a second, and she welcomed it. She didn't want to be awake for this; hell she didn't want to be alive for this.
Her vision cleared and she could see Tom above her, sneering at her. "Happy anniversary Lizzie."
"What?" She managed through gritted teeth.
"Oh think about what day it is Lizzie. I know you can't forget about our day." Fear and disgust washed over her as she realized what the date must be. Five years ago Tom had taken this day from her for what she thought was forever, but then a year later Lucky gave that day back to her. Now Tom was going to take it back again. She couldn't let him. This was Lucky's day, her and Lucky's day. She wouldn't let him.
"So you do remember?"
"Unfortunately it's burned into my mind." She spat. With all the strength she had left in her she brought her knee up until it connected hard with his crotch.
Tom screamed in pain and rolled off of her. She scrambled to her feet and tried in vain to pull her clothes around her so that they would cover her.
"You little B!t#h!" He cursed. He grabbed his gun from the table and brandished it at her as he walked awkwardly towards her. "You're gonna pay for that!"
Elizabeth's eyes searched wildly for anything she could use in her defense. Her eyes locked on the chair she had been tied to. She gripped it with her hands and swung it with all her might at Tom's head.
He staggered and the gun dropped to the ground. Elizabeth lunged for it and had it in her hands before Tom realized anything. She pressed her back against the wall and pointed the gun towards him.
Tom looked up and saw that the situation had changed. "Now Lizzie, calm down."
"Shut up Tom!"
"You probably don't even know how to use that thing now give it back to me before you hurt yourself."
"Oh I don't do I?" Elizabeth cocked the gun expertly and raised it back level with his chest. "Jason Morgan's a good friend to have."
Tom's face paled slightly, she definitely wasn't the same girl who had shakily held the gun in the photo studio. "Don't do this. You can't kill me. You can't do it!" Tom screeched in desperation.
"Not a word Tom." She said coldly and squeezed the trigger on the gun. The force of the gunshot knocked her back against the wall and startled her a bit. But she kept her eyes on Tom. Watching him slump helplessly to the ground and gasp his last breath. As soon as his eyes rolled back in his head she started shaking and the gun dropped from her hands. The last thing she saw before the world faded was the door opening and dark figures entering.
~*~
Elizabeth screamed as light flooded into her small space. She felt strong arms fold around her and lift her up.
"Lucky." She mumbled.
"Everything's fine Elizabeth." Jason said soothingly as he carried her towards the now caved in exit.

Sly paced back and forth in his boss’ small office nervously. “You said no one was going to get hurt!’
“No one important got hurt, just some insignificant night workers at the warehouse.”
“But it wasn’t supposed to explode!” Sly said, his voice rising. “That wasn’t the bomb I set!”
“It wasn’t?” His boss said innocently.
“No! It was just supposed to be a small fire! A damaging fire yes, but a small one never the less. And it was supposed to go off at 3 am not 8 pm!”
“You must have made a mistake Sylvester.”
“I don’t make mistakes! I’m pretty sure that’s why you hired me.” Sly turned and glared at his boss. “Look Faison I know a lot of people who would kill to put your head on a pike!”
“And how are you going to do that if you’re in prison for arson?” Faison said coolly.
“What?” Sly hissed.
“You were seen by the lovely Miss Webber near the Corinthos/Morgan Warehouse and almost a hundred people saw you rushing out of the art gallery only minutes before the explosion.” Faison said with a very pleased grin on his face.
“That was only because you told me to meet you here!” Sly screamed. “You set me up!? Why?!”
“Just insurance in case you reacted exactly how you did.” Faison hissed. “I own you Eckert, I think you were beginning to forget that.”
“Oh believe me, I’d never forget that.” Sly mumbled.
“Good, see that you don’t.” Faison took a piece of paper out of his desk and handed it to Sly. “Place a call to Corinthos and set up a meeting.”
“You got it boss.” Sly said through gritted teeth. He took the paper from Faison and stalked out of the room. Faison sat back in her chair and smiled victoriously. “Jones and Spencer will pay.”

The paramedics came up to Lucky and started to treat Robert. Lucky rattled off Robert’s condition automatically.
Then Lucky heard a voice from near the entrance of the building. “Most everyone’s fine in there, but there’s a young woman still trapped underneath some debris.” Luke said, dirty, breathless, and worried from obviously already trying to help inside.
The firemen nodded and made there way inside to help. Lucky’s mind froze when heard Luke say that a young woman was still trapped.
“Luke! Who’s trapped?” Mac said running up to Luke.
Luke let out a heavy sigh and ran his hand through his hair. “It’s Elizabeth.”
Mac groaned. “Great this is just what she needs.”
Lucky lost his breath when he heard Elizabeth’s name, and he fought the incredible urge to storm in there and help.
Luke turned toward the ambulance and narrowed his eyes. Lucky backed away into the shadows nervously, hoping that Luke didn’t see him. The paramedics were moving Robert onto a stretcher and taking him towards the ambulance.
Luke rushed over to the stretcher, not noticing Lucky, and called for Mac over his shoulder.
“Rob?” He said as he reached the stretcher and verified his suspicion. Mac skidded to a halt next to his brother and could only stare helplessly.
Mac suddenly broke out of his frozen state. “I’m going with him.”
“Bubba, you’re needed here.” Luke said putting a hand of Mac’s shoulder. “What’s his condition?” He asked the paramedics.
“Probably only a mild concussion, we think he was most likely knocked unconscious by the blast, he should be fine pending tests that they will do at GH.” The paramedic said reassuringly.
“See Bubba, they’ll take care of him at GH. But I’ll go with him; you just make sure my family gets out of there safe. You need to find out who did this. And then I’ll help you find some answers.” Luke said getting into the ambulance. Mac nodded knowing Luke was right.
Lucky breathed a sigh of relief as he watched the ambulance pull away and Mac walk towards the building. He hadn’t felt this helpless in over a year.

Lucky stormed into Sean Donnelley’s office with a newspaper in his hand. “When were you going to tell me about this!?!” He yelled.
“I didn’t intend to tell you.” Sean said still not looking from the papers on his desk.
“I had a right to know!” Lucky spat and held up the paper he was holding. “And I shouldn’t have had to have found out from a newspaper!”
“Lucky, calm down.” Robert’s Australian voice came from behind Lucky.
“Did you know about this?” Lucky said turning his accusatory tone on Robert.
“I only found out this morning.” Robert said glaring at Sean. He obviously didn’t like not being informed.
“I’m going after her.” Lucky said firmly.
“You can’t Lucky, just let the police handle it.” Sean said calmly.
“Oh come on! You expect me to sit back and let the PCPD try and find her?” Lucky said slamming his hand down on Sean’s desk. “If they ever did find her they’d find her dead or worse. And believe me there is a worse!”
Sean took a deep breath. He knew Lucky was right, but the orders came from higher up, there was nothing he could do. “Lucky, you and Frisco are leaving on a mission this afternoon.”
“I won’t go, not while Elizabeth is somewhere with that lunatic!” Lucky screamed in frustration.
“Lucky you have to…” Sean started to say, but Robert cut him off.
“No, he’s going to Elizabeth. And I’m going with him.” Robert said with authority and walked out of the room followed by Lucky.
~Two days later~
“Are you sure they’re here?” Robert asked calmly.
Lucky nodded. “Yeah, this is where the man at the general store said Tom was taking the supplies.” Lucky looked around the van at the half a dozen WSB agents in combat gear and turned to smile thankfully at Robert. “I don’t know how you got reinforcements without Sean’s approval, but thank you.”
Robert smiled mysteriously. “Sometimes it pays to be a legend.”
The van stopped outside a cabin and all the agents got out and started to secure the area. Lucky automatically took charge of the situation. “Johnson, Monroe, you two check the back entrance; Davidson, Hockley, you stay here with the van; Zender, Erikson, you two are with me and Scorpio, we go in through the front. Let’s move.”
The agents quickly executed the orders Lucky had given them and followed Lucky to the cabin.
As Lucky and Robert approached the porch a gunshot sounded loudly in the air. Lucky sprinted the final few steps; all thoughts of a plan escaped his mind. He knocked down the door and stood frozen for a second while he took in the scene before him. Tom lay lifeless on the floor and Elizabeth was starting to wobble on her legs, with the gun at her feet.
Lucky rushed to her as her eyes closed and her legs collapsed. He held her close for the first time in four years as they both sank to the floor. He stroked her hair and whispered. “I’m here Elizabeth, I’m here.”
~*~
Lucky closed his eyes as he thought of the last time he’d held her, even though she had never known he was there. She had saved herself that day and he’d gotten there too late once again.
“Elizabeth’s all right.” Frisco said, appearing at Lucky’s side. Lucky looked at him hopefully. “I saw Jason pull her out of the rubble, she’s okay.”
Lucky nodded, pushing down the knot of jealousy he felt. He should be the one carrying her to safety. “Thank you Frisco.”
Frisco nodded. “Did Rob get off okay?”
“Yeah, but not before my dad and Mac recognized him. Dad went with him to the hospital.”
“Yeah I figured something like that would happen.”
Just then Lucky’s beeper went off and he checked it. He looked up at Frisco with a worried glance. “That’s Sonny, Faison must have contacted him.”
Frisco nodded and started to walk to where he had his car, he knew that now there was so much to do.
Lucky was about to follow Frisco when he glanced back at the crowd by the building. His breath caught as he saw Elizabeth walking out supported by Jason. He smiled when he saw that she was all right and was about to walk away when she lifted her head and her eyes connected with him. He couldn’t even move as she screamed, “Lucky!”
