“You are not my Uncle. You might have been my father’s brother but you are not family!” Robbie cried. “Oh Roberta Anne, you were always too much like your mother.” Faison said disapprovingly. “Don’t you dare say anything about my mother.” “She was never right for your father. Such a tragedy about her accident though.” He made a sideways glance at Robbie. “She never did deserve him, but he was so crushed when her car smashed into that tree. Her brakes went out didn’t they?” Robbie’s blood chilled. In that instance she knew Faison had killed her mother. But she also knew that her uncle wanted her to know that. He was only doing it to break her down and throw her off her game. So she straightened her back and steeled herself against his attack. Faison saw something move in the shadows and decided to have some fun. “I was extremely happy to do you this favor Roberta. As soon as you asked me to kidnap the young Webber girl I knew it was ingenious, must run in the family.” Faison said smirking at her. “Wha…” But Faison interrupted her before she could say much more. “Of course it was the least I could do for you since your family kept Lucky… shall we say occupied? … For the past five years.” Faison grinned evilly at her. “Faison what are you…” “But I do hope you use this opportunity wisely. With Miss Webber gone you should be able to get closer to young Spencer.”
Lucky’s insides twisted as he heard Faison’s words. Could Robbie really betray him like that? She wouldn’t hurt Elizabeth like that, would she? Her family couldn't have been working for Faison all that time, could they? And what had Faison said about “family”? It could be a trick of Faison’s, he’d played enough mind games with him in the year that Lucky was with him. But evidently Faison had been playing mind games for the past five years too. Whatever he knew about Robbie and whatever friendship they had was now shadowed by doubt. He knew that feeling well; it was how he felt with his Dad all those years ago. Everything she had ever done for him was now clouded by this one thing, if it was true.
“I don’t…” Robbie had started to say but once again Faison cut her off. “Oh don’t worry dear Roberta about thanking me, after all you are my niece.” Through all the confusion in her head Robbie heard a horrified gasp from behind her. She whirled around and saw Lucky shaking his head in disbelief. “No! Lucky don’t believe him!” She shouted, but her pleas fell on deaf ears as Lucky stared at her, anger burning in his eyes. He didn’t even yell, he just backed away and disappeared into the shadows. Robbie started to follow him but Faison’s menacing and somewhat pleased voice stopped her. “Let’s see you get out of this one Roberta.” By the time she turned around Faison had disappeared. She looked helplessly up at the sky and silently pleaded ‘Why?’ Then she took off in the direction Lucky had gone.

Darkness surrounded her as she entered back into consciousness. As far as she could tell she had drifted in and out a few times. She couldn’t tell how long she had been there or any clue to where she was. Her eyes focused and she could see around the room she was in, a little. But the only thing she could tell was that it was small and it had no windows. She couldn’t see a door so she assumed it was behind her. The smell in the room was a dank musty smell that threatened to choke her. She could hear water dripping slowly somewhere in the room. Faintly she heard a scratching noise followed but a small squeak as what she assumed was a rat scurried across the floor. She tensed and then cursed herself for being such a baby. If someone had kidnapped her and she was locked up then she had more important things to worry about then a little rat.
Her hands and feet ached from being tied to the chair she had been put in. Her back and neck were stiff from sleeping that position. Why had she waited so long to admit her feelings for Lucky to herself? She should’ve told Nikolas that first night that there would never be anyone else for as long as Lucky was alive. But she was too stubborn; Luke had told her countless times she was stubborn enough to be a Spencer. All her friends had known she was going to go back to Lucky, why hadn’t she known. But she did know she just ignored it.

“So when are you going to give up and go back to my adorable cousin?” Carly asked bluntly from where she sat. She was leaning back in a chair with a moisturizing mask on her face and cucumber slices on her eyes. “Carly.” Liz warned from her place on the massage table where some God-like man with incredible hands worked wonders on her back. He was Swedish but Lucy kept boasting about how she stole him from some little spa in Pennsylvania. “What?! I can’t be concerned about my cousin’s poor aching heart not to mention my best friend’s?” Carly said with her usual flare for the dramatic. “What about Nikolas’ poor aching heart?” V challenged from where a woman with very blond hair was doing her nails. She had a few tiny curlers in her hair and cotton balls between her toes. “I feel bad for Nikolas but this is true love we’re talking about here! You didn’t see Liz and Lucky together.” “Neither did you!” Alexis pointed out from beside Carly. She was in a similar state as Carly. “Technicality.” Carly said waving her hand. “Bobbie and Luke and Laura and even Jason knew how much in love those two were.” “Carly things change, I thought he was dead for goodness sakes! I built my life around the fact that he died.” “Not to mention the fact that he got his memory back almost a year ago and never came back until now.” Alexis pointed out. “Alexis, you’re not helping!” Carly said in what she thought was a whisper. “I’m not supposed to help, I’m a lawyer.” Alexis said grinning. Carly gave a disgusted sigh. “I’m not really mad at him for that anymore.” Liz said softly as Sven hit a particularly tense spot. “Why?” All three of her friends and the manicurist asked. Liz told them all about what Robbie had told her earlier in the morning. About how Lucky had helped her deal with the death of her family. “Wow.” Was the response from the manicurist. “See, my cousin has such a big heart, he’d do anything for a friend.” Carly proclaimed almost like it was her good quality and not Lucky’s. Liz rolled her eyes at Carly’s antics, even though only V could actually see her. “Well Sven, what do you think?” Carly asked. “Sven doesn’t speak English.” The manicurist said. “But I think I know what he’d say. ‘Always follow your heart’ It may be a bit cliché but the oldest sayings always work.” All the women laughed. “Liz if you do decide that Lucky is ‘the one’ please tell Nikolas soon, don’t drag him along.” V said seriously. “I won’t V, I don’t want to hurt Nikolas.” Liz said and then added quietly. “But I don’t see how I can avoid it.”
~~~~ End Flashback ~~~~
Elizabeth’s happy memory of her friends was interrupted by the sound of a door opening from behind her. “Ahh, Miss Webber, I’m glad you are finally awake.” Came the heavily accented voice of her captor. She could feel her feet being untied and then her hands. She quickly brought her hands in front of her and rubbed her wrists where the rope had burned her skin. He laid a tray of food at her feet and stepped back a few paces so she could see his face. Liz gasped as she recognized him. “You’re supposed to be dead.” Faison shrugged “I’ve been thought to be dead many times.” “Why did you take me? Lucky will find me.” Liz said with more confidence than she felt. “I’m counting on it.” Faison said as an evil smirk played across his face. “As for why, Lucky knows what I want.” And with that Faison stalked out of the room leaving Elizabeth to wonder what he meant. |
