My Reviews

Instead of a loooong review, I am just going to put a quick summary for what I though of each film of his I've seen. I see them all the time, so chack back every now and then.
Remember, this is just what I think.

(try to count how many times I say 'enjoyable'..... it started to annoy me when I read these again, but it's really the best was to describe most of his films!!)

High Fidelity

I was hoping that this film would be as good as Grosse Pointe Blank, because of D.V DeVincentis and Steve Pink working on it again with John, so I had very high expectations when watching it. It wasn't as good as GPB, but the closest so far! Some bits (the ones with Tim Robbins especially) were really really funny! I would say you should definitly definitly see this film!!!
10/10

Being John Malkovich

Absolutle excellent! Very original, very funny! John was really good at playing a pathetic loser, but still remained adorable. Definitly one of his best so far!
10/10

Cradle Will Rock

John wasn't in this as much as I thought he would be, although he is one of the main characters. It's a very good film, and definitly worth seeing.
8/10

Pushing Tin

A good, funny, film. Good characters, good plot, worth seeing. It got some bad reviews, and, even though I don't in anyway agree, I can see what they mean. As a JC movie it's great, full of him being great, as usual.
8/10

The Jack Bull

This film was written by John's father. It's very sad, but still enjoyable, I've never seen a JC film like it. If you don't mind sad movies, you should definitly see this.
7/10

The Thin Red Line

As war films go, this was very good, but I am not a fan of war films, so I didn't really like it. JC was as excellent as usual, but not in it a lot! I'd say see it if you are a war film fan, or if you just want to see JC getting muddy!
5/10

This Is My Father

This is my father is about a guy who goes to Ireland to discover his roots. John plays an America pilot who crashlands on a beach and stays the night with this guy and his girlfriend. This film was all right, a bit sappy for my tastes, but good nonetheless. John was wonderful, as always, in this small, but humourous, role.
6/10 (whole film) 9/10 (John)

Summary by Kitura Bauge

Anastasia

Well, I don't really know what to say. It's a cratoon movie. As cartoon movies go it's very good, John's voice is in it! But if you are not into cartoon movies you wont like. I skiped most of it, just waiting for the bits where John is speaking!
10/10 for a cartoon movie. 5/10 for a JC movie.

Midnight in the Graden of Good and Evil

I didn't expect to like this movie, but I really did. It's full of stuff to be interested in, and quite funny. It did get a bit silly in places, but all in all, a good film. Definitly one to see.
7/10

Con Air

I enjoyed most of this film, John was good, and most of what he was saying wasn't too bad, although it is unbearably sentimental in parts. It's good to watch if you don't take it seriously, and it has some really good actors in it.
7/10

Grosse Pointe Blank

Well, what can I say?? The best movie ever might be a start!!!! You absolutely have to see this film! It is so funny, clever, and has the best action scenes ever, I prefer this kind of cartoon violence. If you haven't seen this film, switch of your computer and go get it NOW!
15/10

City Hall

This film was a bit too serious, and macho for me. It is a good one to watch, and if full of JC being the great actor he is, but it is hard to follow sometimes. When I first watched it I didn't like it at all, now it's growing on me. It shouldn't be one of the first you see, but you should see it.
8/10 - that may seem weird to give it 8 after what I just said, but it is a good movie, just not my type.

Bullets Over Broadway

This film wasn't what I expected it to be at all. It's funny, and clever, and has some really good quotes in it. It's definitly what I'd call 'enjoyable' to watch, I don't know how else to describe it. You could hate it, if you don't like this kind of film, but as a JC fan, I don't think you could.
9/10

The Road to Wellville

This film is genrally seen as, well, putting it nicely, not one of John's best. With that in mind I wasn't expecting to like it at all, but I did! It wasn't that funny, but a little in bits, but Anthony Hopkins, and John's characters were very enjoyable to watch, I loved watching John's scenes, of which there were quite a few. I'd say if you're going to see this, do so not expecting much, and you should be pleased! 7/10 (it's quite rude)

Money For Nothing

This definitly isn't your average JC movie, but enjoyable all the same, it's got it's good points, JC being in it a LOT being it's best point. I'd say not one you really need to see, but a good one all the same!
6/10

The Player

You should definitly NOT see this film to see John, he is in it for 5 seconds at the most. You
should see this film though. I always like Tim Robbins, and this film is no exception.
10/10

Map of the Human Heart

I have to say, I can't really write a review on this one. I tryed to watch it, but it's just really, really not my kinda film. It's not that I need a funny, or an action film, to keep me entertained, but I really just couldn't find anything I liked to watch in this film, except JC of course, but he wasn't in it very much.
3/10

True Colors

John is surposed to be the badie in this, but I can't ever dislike his characters. I liked this film a lot, and watched it again and again when I first got it. Very cute.
8/10

The Grifters

Maybe it's because I was 15 when I first watched it, but I didn't like this film as much as everyone else seemed to. I thought it was good and all, and was the weirdest film I'd ever seen, untill Being John Malkovich. You should see it, even if it's just because it's one of John's most famous. I can see it's a good film, even though I don't like it.
9/10

Say Anything

It seems most JC fans either like Grosse Pointe Blank, or this. I like Grosse Pointe Blank, but can highly recomed you see this film. You might love it, you probably will.
10/10

Eight Men Out

At the beginning, I didn't think I was going to like this films, it just seemed very base-ball-y to me. But once I got into it, I really really liked it! It have a great plot, and great characters, definitly one to see! You end up feeling sort of fond of the characters, which is always good!
8/10

Tapeheads

Very hard to get hold of, I had to buy an old copy, which for some reason was in black+white. Not as funny as I thought it'd be, but good all the same. Not worth a huge effort to see, but if you can see it, do.
7/10

Hot Pursuit

I was surprised with this one, looking at the beginning I didn't think it was going to be any good, but it actually was. It's not what I thought it would be at all, definitly one of the best 80's ones!
7/10

One Crazy Summer

A good film, tried a bit too hard to be funny. Maybe in another mood I would have loved it, it's a certain kind of comedy, not my type. Demi Moore didn't annoy me as much as I thought she would, but close.
6/10

Better Off Dead

I'm not usually a fan a John's 80's films, but I really, really liked this one!!! It was funny, cute, and John was excellent, as always. Definitly one for the collection.
9/10

The Journey of Natty Gann

A Disney film. A film about a girl who goes looking for her father, with only a wolf as her friend. No Kidding. I surprised myself by liking this film anyway. John isn't the main character, but he has a bit in the middle of the film where it's about him and her.
7/10

The Sure Thing

Very funny, very cute, full of excellent quotes! Definitly see this film.
9/10

Sixteen Candles

This was on t.v the day before my 16th birthday, and made the year I was born... how spooky. It wasn't the tacky, teeny, 80's film I thought it was going to be at all. I really liked the characters, and JC's was one of the best. I'd recomend this film.
7/10

Class

I couldn't bare this film, it was soooo tacky!!! BUT, and that's a big but, you have to see it, it's JC's first film, and he looks really young! He's in it quite a bit, actually, not just a passing through character.
1/10 - But you just have to see it, forward to all the JC bits!

Please e-mail me what you thought, especially of any I haven't mentioned!
