You decide to try and sleep, you throw off your clothes and put on whatever you stuffed under your pillow that morning. You jump into bed and pull up the covers.
You spend the next hour staring at the ceiling.
You can't sleep.
You know you're tired, you don't want to get up or move in anyway, but you can't fall asleep either.
You roll over and plump your pillow a bit, trying to think about anything except vampires. And after counting 2,384 sheep, you eventually begin to doze.

Suddenly the
sheets are yanked away from you and you see a tall pale figure standing
over you.
"Ack!" You yelp and scramble off the bed and dart into your bathroom. You begin to pull the door shut behind you, but he merely holds out a hand. His fingertips are barely touching the door, yet you can't pull the door past them. |
"Me?" He asks, then chuckles quietly. "Don't worry yourself, I've merely come to…talk with you."
"Talk?" You echo dumbly, resisting the urge to yank on the door again. You've figured out that he must be a vampire, but you seriously doubt he just wants to 'talk' with you. "About what?" You ask.
"About what you think you saw tonight." He tells you.
"Oh?" You try to sound nonchalant, but your voice is about three octaves higher than normal and it ruins the effect.
"At the Raven." He clarifies. "You see, I was watching you."
You stiffen. So it was him and not the guy you bumped
who'd been watching you! You feel like screaming, but decide to hold your
tongue and wait for him to finish.
| "I know what
you saw." He adds, his lightly accented voice conveying the mildest of
threats. "What you…thought you saw."
You nod, "I saw something," You confirm, but decline to say exactly what. He sighs gently and takes a step closer, he places one hand on your shoulder and tips your head back. You're looking directly into his eyes. |

You frown slightly, but he increases the pressure on the side of your neck and his voice seems to deepen.
Suddenly, your fingers feel greasy with imitation butter.
"I went to the movies," You repeat.
He smiles at you, "That's right. And you've never been to the Raven, in fact, you will never want to go there."
You nod.
He stands there a moment longer, stroking your neck, as if trying to decide something.
Then suddenly, he's gone.
You blink and look around.
You run your fingers through your mussed hair and look around your bedroom. Even though it's still unbearably hot, you find yourself shivering. You walk over and shut your bedroom window.
"Must be coming down with something," You mumble, heading towards the medicine cabinet and your bottle of Aspirin. "Can't even remember what movie I saw…"
I can't decide if I'm disappointed or not, try it again.
