description: The Full FX is a moonsault off
of the top rope into a DDT. (Also executed off of ladders, tables, and even
off the top of vending machines!)
Personality:
Early in Shawn's career he was known for his arrogance and flamboyant attitude.
He would pick beautiful blonde women out of the crowd to accompany him
to ringside. (Even if these women were already being escorted by a boyfriend
or husband in the crowd!) Now however, Shawn has stopped playing with the
ladies and inciting riots and is totally focused to just WRESTLE and win
championships. (Supposedly, he is already struggling with this upcoming
New Years resolution)
Appearance:
From top to bottom: Shawn FX has long blonde hair pulled back into a pony
tail. He usually wears black sunglasses during interviews and on the way
to the ring. At times he sports a blonde goatie. Most recently however,
he cut the goatie and sold it on eBay for an undisclosed amount of money.
He has an athletic build which is well defined, especially his abs. His
ring attire consists of red elbow pads, red tights with yellow flames,
and black wrestling boots. As for accessories, he usually has an opponent
at the bottom of his feet, begging for mercy.
Background:
Chapter
1- In the Beginning
Shawn
FX (Real name Shawn Philips) was born July 4, 1977 to proud parents Michael
Philips Sr. and Victoria Philips. Shawn grew up in the great state of Texas-
Houston Texas more specifically. At a very young age Shawn knew he wanted
to become a professional wrestler. He sought the in-ring teachings of a
retired mexican wrestler known the world over as EL DINGO. El Dingo taught
young Shawn the intricate style of the Luchadores. At the very ripe age
of 16 Shawn debuted under a mask simply known as RIOT. (The mask was to
keep his parents from knowing he was wrestling instead of doing homework
at the school library!)
Chapter
2- Tradegy strikes
Shawn
was already in line for a TWF (Texas Wrestling Federation) Regional title
shot when Shawn's brother Michael leaked out the information that Shawn
had been wrestling without his parent's permission. In a blind rage Michael
Philips Sr. piled his wife and oldest son into the family car to find where
young Shawn had been sneaking off to wrestle. On the way, the unthinkable
happened. A truck driver under the influence of alchol plowed head on without
even hitting the breaks into the vechile three forths of the Philips family
was riding in. After ambulance, police, fire rescue, and the jaws of life
arrived at the accident site it was unfortunately too late. Michal Philips
Sr, Michael Philips Jr, and Victoria Philips were all pronounced dead on
the scene on July 3, 1994.
Chapter
3- The depression
and the altercation
After
Shawn returned from his pro wrestling show to be told the news of his family's
tragic and untimely passing he was devastated. He quit school and drowned
his sorrows away at various local bars and strip clubs that his "friend"
Jacknife got him into. El Dingo became very concerned with his depressed
protege's erratic behavior. Shawn started experimenting with drugs. No
amount of advice or comforting words could keep Shawn away from living
life in the fast lane. El Dingo had no choice but to fire Shawn from the
TWF for sleeping with his wife El Dango. (Dingo/Dango oh never mind!) El
Dingo and Shawn had an altercation involving a switch blade. This is why
a deep, jagged scar can still be seen on Shawn's left shoulder. El Dingo
was not so lucky, however simply to have a scar to remember the incident
by. Police have still not figured out who the John Doe is they found sliced
to pieces and stuffed in a garbage can in a dark alley way. All they know
is that the "man" had the initials FX carved deep into his chest cavity.
It is a strange mystery indeed.
Chapter
4- The transition
After
spending some time in a mental hospital, Shawn hopped on a bus and moved
to Phoenix Arizona. He began to embark on a new journey that he would never
forget. He met a man by the name of Bill Grecco and began shoot wrestling
for a UFC type promotion known as Prize Fight Wrestling. Shawn earned a
lot of money and drinking privileges beating such names as Strongman, Bouncer
Mike, Little Grecco, Thriller, Shocka, "Rebel" Randy Hayes, and many more.
Chapter
5- Short lived
romance
Shawn
met a young woman by the name of HADES. This woman was nothing short of
gorgeous. Hades however was too much like Shawn in many respects. Shawn
caught his "Main Squeeze" cheating on him with one of the wrestlers in
a hotel room after a show in Casaer's Palace. Shawn confronted this wrestler,
knife in hand and was subsequently arrested. It was a total SET UP! Hades
had been seeing this wrestler all along and were plotting a way to get
Shawn out of PFW. Their plan succeeded.
Chapter
6- Time in the
slammer?
Shawn
thought we would be spending the rest of his life in a maximum security
prison when an unexpected visitor arrived. It was HIPW (High Impact Pro
Wrestling) promoter Wild Bill Wrangler. Wrangler agreed to bust Shawn out
of jail, but only on one condition- Shawn had to wrestle exclusively for
HIPW (High Impact Pro Wrestling) Shawn agreed and headed back to Texas
with a new job awaiting him and a new, fresh start on life.
Chapter
7- Rookie of
the year honors
Shawn
totally changed his life around. He began retraining and learning a more
diverse style of wrestling under the veteran guidance of "The Technican"
Matt Mayhem. Now that Shawn was in HIPW things would be much different.
Shawn knuckled down, listened to his teachers, and finally finished high
school at a local community college. This was an incredible feat considering
he was on the road working for HIPW on the weekends. A local wrestling
magazine- Texas Wrestling Illustrated featured Shawn in an article and
named him TWI Rookie of the Year.
Chapter
8- The Mission
Shawn's
first order of business was to win the HIPW Television Championship. Canadian
wrestler Chris Bennett had been taunting Shawn for weeks that "some green
unknown rookie" couldn't get the job done. Well the Canadian was proven
wrong. Shawn FX won his first championship title with perseverance and
humility in a classic bout defeating Chris Bennett and becoming the HIPW
Television Champion on August 4, 1998.
Chapter
9- Title -vs-
Title
HIPW
Western States Champion "The Barber" Barry Butcher began seeing the crowds
reacting to Shawn's every move during match and chanting "boring" every
time "The Barber" would clamp on a sleeper hold. Professional jealousy
then insued. "The Barber" refused to be impressed with Shawn's flashy suplex/run/fly
off the turnbuckles style. "The Barber" wanted to teach Shawn an old school
lesson the Texas bull rope way. The plan backfired. Shawn FX became the
first and only unified HIPW Television/Western States Champion. There was
only one goal left... The HIPW National Championship!
Chapter
9 1/2- Title
-vs- Title (Again)>
Now
that Shawn had won two championships and were holding them simultaneously
he was an automatic top contender for the HIPW National Championship. HIPW
promoter Wild Bill Wrangler, however put a new spin on the envitable title
versus title match between HIPW Television/Western States Champion Shawn
FX and HIPW National Champion Dozer. The match would be aired on TNN and
would determine the first officially recognized HIPW World Heavyweight
Champion. Shawn's first moment of truth was about to arrive.
Chapter
10- The Match
of the Millenium
On
almost the exact stroke of midnight January 1, 2000 Shawn FX became the
first ever HIPW World Heavyweight Champion. Despite outside interference
by Dozer's new tag team partner Bronc nothing could stop Shawn from fulfilling
his destiny. One miss que clothesline by Bronc on Dozer and one Superkick
later by Shawn FX the celebration, the streamers, the confetti, and the
balloons falling from the ceiling of Texas Stadium began!
Chapter
11- Money, Wild
Women, and Song
Shawn
FX enjoyed his explosive ride to fortune and fame during the year 2000.
He established himself as a very credible champion by taking on all comers,
from any region of the states or part of the world for that matter. Strangely
enough, HIPW unexpectedly shut down. Wild Bill Wrangler and his "stable"
of wrestlers suddenly disappeared off of the face of the earth with no explanation. Many have their own theories. Maybe they went South of the border in honor of El Dingo? Who knows....
Shawn FX vacated his HIPW World Heavyweight Championship just recently.
He is still trying to find out what happened to the federation he had enjoyed
so much success in... That is until now- That is until the discovery of
z T w !
