Hi all! My name is Jayson. But most of friends call me Smiley. Won't you? Please do. "Won't
you be, won't you be my neighbor?" I watch far too much Mr. Rogers for my age. The above
human (maybe) is me, at my Homecoming in '98. Ugly ain't I? Please don't answer that
question. I was born in April of '83, on the exact switch of time (So, on my birth
certificate the time of birth reads "2:00 or 3:00 a.m."). I live in Omaha, and I've lived in
Omaha most of my life. I graduated from Bryan Sr. High (GO BEARS!!). There I was part of the Band, and was capitan of the
flagline. I was Secretary of Youth-2-Youth (the school's drug-free youth group)as well as
Concert Choir, MESA and International Thespian Society (I hate to brag, but I'm one heck of
an actor. See the last part of my bio for elaboration). I now attend The University of Nebraska-Lincoln (GO HUSKERS!!!)
with my brother Marcus (who is soon to graduate with a BS in Computer Science. He's single,
ladies ;). I play Baritone in the Cornhusker
Marching Band, but I someday hope to make the color guard. My other brother, Kenny, attends The University of Nebraska-Omaha (GO MAVS!!!).
There, he is an RA for Scott Hall,
and was voted Student Employee of the Year in 2002.
I go to Dundee Presbyterian Church, where I was a part of the Sr. High Chior. I just
love to sing, dance, act, anything that has to do with the fine arts (outside of studying
them). In the November of '97, I was in our school's fall musical THE PAJAMA GAME. I
enjoyed it very much. Not to brag but I got the second male lead. I love Shakespeare's plays
the most though. In March of '98, I was in the school's spring play MUCH ADO ABOUT
NOTHING. I loved doing it and want to do more Shakespeare. I am available for other
roles. So, if any of y'alls have a friend, who has a friend, who knows a director, or
someone in the movie biz, tell them to contact
me. I'm not even kidding about this; I am sooooo serious. In my free time I help usher
at the Omaha Community Playhouse.
I've gotten to see plays like THE SECRET GARDEN, OLIVER, CLUE: THE MUSICAL, and
CAMELOT. I enjoyed every minute of it.
However, my newest obsession is winterguard. Ever since I did flagline in high school I've
always wondered if there was another level of expression, outside of marching on the field.
I saw some DCI (Drum Corps International) shows
and about threw a tizzy with the level of performance I saw; it was like marching band on
sterrhoids, it was great. I then saw a tape that changed my life. The show is called blast!. I sat mouth agape, in awe of this
magnificent spectacale of light, sound and movement. If you haven't seen blast! I suggest
you do. It's like marching band, theatre and dance all taken to the nth degree. Even if you
don't like marching bands, it's an awesome sight to see. Ever since I saw that I was hooked.
I had to find something like it in my area. I cruised a few websites and found out about WGI (Winter Guard International). This had been
what I was looking for; all the fun of marching flags, without the weather. Unfortuneatly,
there were no guards in my area. I was crushed. But this year, my drill instructor from high
school approached me about a winterguard he was forming in my hometown. I about came out of
my skin. I barely maintained bladder control. Audtions were last week, and now I am doing
flags, rifles and sabres for the newest thing to hit the Midwest, The Heartland Fire and Ice Winterguards.
This promises to be one of the best years of my life. I can hardly wait for practice to
start. Wish me luck.
