Casablanca
Starring Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Paul Henreid

A truly perfect movie, the 1942 Casablanca is a unique and intriguing story of a love triangle during the war. Humphrey Bogart plays the owner of a club, Ingrid Bergman is the lover who mysteriously deserted him in Paris and Paul Heinreid is her heroic, slightly bewildered husband.

The DVD contains a special documentary called "You must remember this" (including never-before-seen footage), the theatrical trailer, optional soundtracks and subtitles.

TRIVIA - The budget was so small they couldn't use a real plane in the background at the airport. Instead, it is a small cardboard cutout. To give the illusion that the plane was full-sized, they used midgets to portray the crew preparing the plane for take-off.

Also on books: As Time Goes By by Michael Walsh - Casablanca: Script and Legend, the 50th Anniversary Edition by Howard Koch

The Wizard of Oz
Starring Judy Garland

Scarecrow: I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy: How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

This great American movie, shot in glorious Technicolor, was first released during Hollywood's golden year of 1939. Young Dorothy Gale (Judy Garland), her dog Toto, and her three companions on the yellow brick road to Oz - the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion and the Scarecrow - have become pop-culture icons and central figures in the legacy of fantasy for children.

TRIVIA - Loew's (the theatre chain that owned MGM) wanted a big star for the lead role, suggesting Shirley Temple. 20th Century Fox refused to lend her for the role, so it went to Judy Garland.
