Chapter Four
(The next morning)
Ryan was at SOS taking inventory of some of the new items that had just arrived when he looked over and say Hayley walking toward him "Hi Hayley"
"SOOOO!" Hayley smiled really big "How was the big date?"
Ryan smiled "Oh it was great, she opened the door took one look at me and run into the next room to throw up."
Hayley gasped "What?"
Ryan put down the clipboard "Gillian had the flu, so we didn't go out."
Hayley relaxed and smiled "For a mintue I thought Gillian maybe wanted to tell you that you were wearing the wrong kind of shoes with your outfit."
"Ha Ha very funny." Ryan said smiling at Hayley
"So are you planning on trying again?" she asked
"Yeah" Ryan said picking up the clipboard again
Hayley paused for a second and looked up at Ryan "Ryan if you don't mind me butting in, why the sudden change of heart? I mean I always knew you and Gillian were right for one another don't get me wrong, but what I don't get is the fact that you denied it for months. You were so totally convinced you and Gillian were through. Heck the two of you even got divorced. Why all of a sudden do you want to give it another shot?"
Ryan took a deep breath "Well the other night at the hospital Gillian said something that got me thinking. So what if our first marriage failed, why should that stop us from having a second chance?"
"But Ryan everyone has been trying to tell you that for months" Hayley said softly
"I know" Ryan said "But when I saw her with Jake the other night, something happened inside of me Hayley. It was like an explosion of my feelings for her." Ryan rubbed his hands through his hair "I mean this was not the first time I had seen her with Jake or any other guy for that matter, but something went off in me the other night. I was so sure that I had buried all of my feelings for Gillian deep enough where I would never have to feel them again, but I didn't. I'm not ready to just open my heart up again, but I know that I love Gillian and I want to be the one to make her laugh, not Jake or anyone else. I'm willing to try, and so is she. We are going to take things easy and see how everything goes."
Hayley hung her head "Are you sure your ready?" she asked
Ryan nodded "Yeah I think so. I mean God knows I spent so many months feeling sorry for myself. I blamed my parents for everything that didn't go my way and I was so sure I would turn out to be just like them and end up hurting Gillian, so I pushed her away. But I'm not my parents, and I'm not going to let them ruin any more of my life. I figure I can either sit and throw myself a pitty party for the rest of my life or get on with my life. I'm always going to live with the memories of my awful childhood and what happened with Braden, but I can't sit and dwell on that forever. If I did my parents will won and I'm not going to let them. I'm not, so from this day forward, the Ryan Lavery Pitty Party is official over!"
Hayley's eyes widened "All that from seeing Gillian and Jake together huh?"
Ryan laughed "Well that and some serious time I spent thinking"
Hayley smiled "Some serious thinking, I guess." Hayley grabbed Ryan's hand "I'm just so happy for you. You and Gillian deserve to be happy."
"We both do" They both smiled. Ryan looked at his watch "Ahh listen, I'm going to go see how Gillian is doing. I finished the inventory on the new shipment so all you have to do is sort it. I should be back later." Ryan kissed Hayley on the cheeck and was off to Wildwind.
***************
Gillian was standing in front of the mirror in her bedroom putting on some make-up. "I feel so much better" she said to herself "At least today I can shower and put on some normal clothes." She finished putting on her make-up and earrings and headed downstaris. Just as she was coming down the stairs she heard the doorbell ring. She noticed no one else was around and went to answer it.
Ryan was standing in the doorway "Good morning Gillian. I hope your feeling better because I really don't want you throwing up on me again."
Gillian smiled "I'm feeling much better thank you. Come in."
"Well you sure do look better" he said smiling at her
"I am. I feel like 100% better. Thank you for the note and flower. It was very sweet of you."
Ryan smiled again "I'm just glad your feeling better."
"I'm really sorry that I ruined our date last night. I really was looking forward to it."
"I'm glad you said that, because I have suprise for you tonight, that is if your up to it."
Gillian smiled "I wouldn't miss it for the world"
Ryan nodded "Good, I'll see you tonight" He went towards the door but stopped and turned his head back toward Gillian "You know Gillian this will be our first real date."
Gillian laughed "I was just thinking the same thing." she paused and looked at Ryan a little shyly and said "It must be fate telling us, we are doing the right thing" she said
Ryan smiled at Gillian "Maybe" he said as he walked out of Wildwind. As he shut the door behind him he took a deep breath and took off to plan the suprise for his and Gillian's first date.
