Willow had been moping around the house since Buffy had dissappeared
three weeks ago. All they had to go on was the note she had
left her
mother, it simply thanked them for being her friend and said
goodbye.
Willow needed to know that Buffy was okay wherever she was.
The phone rang and Willow sat up on the bed to answer it. It
was
her Grandmother, Nana Rosenberg on the phone. "Hello Nana" said
Willow trying to sound cheerful.
"Willow, dear, you need to come spend some time with me. Please
come spend a few days. I need to talk to you about something"
she
sounded nysterious.
"Nana, I'm not the best company right now, what do you me for?"
asked
Willow.
"Trust me, I need to see you. I have some answers you are looking
for."
said Nana " I've talked to your mother, pack your things and
she will
bring you over tonight!"
Willow hung up the phone, thinking she had never heard her grandmother
talk that way. She packed her bags, maybe a visit would take
her mind
off Buffy.
Willows mother was glad she had decided to go, she had not been
herself
since her friend Buffy had left. She drove Willow the half hour
to her
Nanas house. Ruth Rosenberg met them at the door, hugged them
both
and ushered them in the comfortable house. She made coffee,
while
Willow took her things upstairs. On the way down the hall, Willow
heard
her mothers voice,"I am worried about her she hasn't been the
same since
the library accident, and then her friend dissappeared, I don't
know
what to do."
Nana answered, "She'll be okay give her some time." Willow entered
the
kitchen, her mother got up to leave, she hugged her daughter
and said
"Feel better Willow, I love you and I will pick you up in a
few days."
Nana sat across from Willow at the table she started to speak
" Now that
you Mom is gone we can have a serious talk. I"ve got some things
to
explain to you. Sometimes in our family the women have strange,
well
like strange powers, we know things, we sometimes have a part
in things,
you have a destiny Willow."
Willow looked at her Nana in disbelief "What are you saying?"
she
thought to herself, "Buffy has a destiny, not me."
"What, you think I'm crazy? I'm not . There are unexplainable
things
in life. Your friend Buffy, she has a destiny. I know she does"
her
Nana smiled at her with a knowing look in her eyes.
"How do you know about Buffy,,Nan?" Willow asked suprise in her voice.
"I just know, shes the slayer, and that is a tough job for one
so young.
but shes done a good job so far. She needs you Willow you are
a big
help to her, thats your destiny." she finished.
"I'm really not that much help, Nana, I don't even know if she
is alive
right now" Willow said near tears.
"Oh, shes alive. Buffy will return in time, she will be stronger
then
ever. She is going through a tough time now, but it will pass.
And
when
she comes back she will need your friendship more then ever.
You must
be
there Willow for her and all of your little group." Her grandmother
took a breath and continued " You will also need to forgive
people who
need forgiveness, people make mistakes out of love remember
that."
Willow looked at her Nana, happiness in her voice "Buffy is okay!
I
have already forgiven her for leaving, I know she had a good
reason."
"It's not Buffy that needs your forgiveness Willow, its another
in
your group and when he needs it you must give it, so the others
will
follow your lead." said her grandmother with a serious tone.
" Then its Angel, the spell worked, he has regained his soul!
I can
forgive Angel, it wasn't his fault, and I think the others can
too."
said Willow smiling.
Her Nana sighed "Willow, its not Angel either, although I am
sure your
spell worked, and I see him and Buffy together again someday,
there
are some complications, thats part of Buffys stress. The person
who
will need your forgiveness is Xander. This will be hardest for
you
because you care so much for him. But you must forgive him,
he would
never hurt any of you intentionally, and it will be hard enough
for
him to forgive himself."
"What did he do? Sometimes he can be such a jerk!"said Willow angrily.
"Willow, I can't tell you that, but when the time comes and you
will
know when it is the time, you must forgive him" her Nana looked
at
her with a faint smile.
"Okay, Nana I will forgive him, but what is my destiny exactly?"
she
asked still in shock at the things her Nana knew.
"Willow , do you think it is coincidence that you also live on
the
helmouth, that you and Buffy became friends? No, it is your
destiny
to help her, you are the glue that bonds these people together,
you
are calm and clearheaded, believe it or not, you are their emotional
guide. You forgive, and they will forgive, you stay strong in
bad
times and they will watch and be strong too. You are a team
and
you love them and they love you. You defend each of them and
make them
see whats right. They need you, your simple stability."Her Nana
said
proudly.
Willow looked at her almost speechless. She finally asked "So
I have
a real part in this slaying thing, its not just my computer
skills?"
Her Nana nodded her head yes. "Willow dear, your friends need
you, just
wonderful you. I hope I haven't shocked you to much, and I hope
I have
relived some of your fear about Buffy. You are a wonderful person,
and
when you go back remember that." her Nana hugged her hard.
"Nana you had me worried at the beginning of this conversation,
but I
feel kind of nice having you know about my secret life. It's
all a lot
to keep in sometimes. You have made me feel so much better about
things" Willow sighed.
When Willows Mom came to pick her up, she noticed a change in
her
daughter. She acted as if the world had been lifted off her
tiny
shoulders. She was her od self again. Her gentle Willow.
As they pulled into the driveway, Willow realized she was glad
to be
home. She thought to herself"Buffys going to come back, I will
deal
with Xander. I will do whatever it takes, I will glue all these
pieces back together again!" Willow Rosenberg looked ahead and
amiled a big smile, she was smiling at her destiny!
The End
