More Rants!!! (kinda like an archive of rants...gosh there are some *seriously* angstin people out there!!)

Here's a brand new Season Finale reader rant from Ashley
(the author of the one I stupidly lost) and
I'd just like to thank her for being such a sweetie and resending it!

******************
"Okay, I don't know about anyone else, but I was positively bawling my
eyes out at certain parts of this finale. The first was when Xander
told Willow that he loved her. I've been waiting for them to get
together since "Welcome to the Hellmouth." You actually saw the look on
his face when he realized he loved her. It was priceless. And then she
called out Oz's name. I know Oz actually notices her and likes her, but
Xander is so much better for her!!! Forget the fact that Oz is suppose
to be going off to college since he is a senior and all, but Willow and
Xander are meant to be together!! They've been best friends for who
knows how long!! They know practically everything about each other. I
have nothing against Oz (or Cordelia for that matter, at least not
anymore, gosh that's weird writing.) as a person, I just believe that
Xander and Willow should be together.

The next part was when Buffy killed Angel. I lost it when she
said,"Close your eyes." The look on his face when she pierced his
stomach killed me. There was so much pain there. He hadn't even been
back long enough to remember everything he had done; he didn't
understand why she was doing this.

But I guess it couldn't have ended any other way as much as I try to
imagine it. It resolved a lot of things, but also brought up more
things for next season. I know I'll be waiting (NOT patiently) for next
season!! "

After All this pain Willow has gone through, she deserves to be with
Xander, he's in love with her he told her so in "BECOMING" So he has a
few flaws.  And about that thing that someone mentioned about the "pack"
episode, I think that the possesion effected Xander.  He wasn't himself.
Even if he remembered everything, still it wasn't him and he probably
convinced himself about it.  Oz, he's cool, worships Willow, but he's
only been around for what 6 episodes, and only in 3 he was important, I
think he's a cool character but before Willow and Oz should get together
he should be introduced more, I mean what do we know about him?  He's a
werewolf, he plays in a band, he likes Willow, and he saved Willow.
(okay that's a good reason but still only one.) I'm on Xander's side.

*******************************
This one is a kinda long, but an excellent analysis of the season finale.

This is a rant for every Buffy fans out there who are crushed, and
deceived, after seeing the season finale of last Tuesday.  This is to
explain why I loved "Becoming" part 1 & 2 probably more than any other
Buffy episodes.

These episodes made us see things I believe never seen on Buffy before
and that we waited for a long time to see.  It achieved tragedy, while keeping
some very funny and light scenes.  "Passion" was a
very dense episode and Xander's irony felt totally inappropriate.  Not in
this episode.  The cafeteria scene was worth a million bucks.  How long have we,
Cordy fans, waited to see her display public affection with Xander and
laugh at his jokes (with Willow watching with a big smile)?  To see her
make an actual compliment to Willow?  For her to come back with a wonderful
insult to Snyder after his snapping at Buffy?
That's one thing.
-Xander's speech in the library over Angel's cure was a delight and
very convincing.  Despite all my affection toward Angel, after hearing
it, I was ready to go after that damn vampire with a stake *and* a
crossbow myself.  And seeing a Slayerette getting in a fight with the
Watcher was pretty disturbing.
-Christine Sutherland did a terrific acting job, if you ask me.  The
face she made when Buffy said :"Mom, I'm a vampire slayer"(Another thing
we waited a long time for), was exactly the face *my* mom would have
made after such a declaration. (Not that I'm planning to do one!)
-My favorite part: Spike! Spike! Spike! Spike!  After watching him get
out of his bloody wheelchair in "I only have eyes for you", I thought
I'd never be more satisfied.  Well, I was wrong.
To see him sing "Someone wasn't worthy", beat up the police officer,
explain how vampires love to do "guy talk" over a pint of blood and how
much he loves this world, express shamelessly that he wants Dru back the
way she was, lie to Joyce when saying that Buffy played
triangle-drums!(you see the guy is very up-to date!), have awkward
silences with Buffy's mom(Remember?  Get the hell away from my
daughter!), beat Angel with a crowbar.  *And* fight with Drusilla!
Hell, that was almost too much for two hours!
-The flashbacks were awesome.  To see Drusilla wanting to be "pure in
His sight" was amazing.  So was human-Angel's hunger for life and the
small return of Darla.  And Buffy's reaction to the Los Angeles Watcher
was hilarious.  One teeny-weeny gripe: Where was Spike's becoming?  I
was looking forward to that.  Well, we can't have it all.
Maybe in an upcoming episode.  Please, Mr. Whedon!!!???
-Finally(I'm almost done I swear), the most talked-about thing: Angel's
death, or disappearance if you prefer.  You have to understand that
since Angel appeared on Buffy, from "Welcome to the Hellmouth" to
"Becoming 2", I believe we've seen every aspects of his character.

First, he appeared as the poor
I'm-tormented-and-moody-and-I-don't-deserve-to-be-happy-and-I-don't-want-
to-love-you-but-I-do-anyway-and-I-suffer-oh-so-much
Angel.  Then ‘Buffy whipped Angelus’ to quote Spike.  Well, unlike Spike, I
didn't like him at all.  He was absolutely and frightfully boring.  I
got attached...but he was boring anyway!  Finally, Angel-the-lover
lost his soul and became Angelus-the-killer.  What he was always
supposed to be.  God, that was fun.  David Boreanaz really impressed me
with his acting, as opposed to only his good looks as
goody-goody Angel.
We've seen him when he wasn't a vampire, young and rebellious, with an
Irish accent, the willing victim of Darla.  We've seen him tormenting
Dru.  We've seen him get his soul back (That was acting!  David Boreanaz
really rocks!).  We've had an explanation on how he came to protect
Buffy.  And we've seen him kill someone we really loved.
I don't think this character could have been brought any further, on any
new levels.  You have to understand that Angel and Buffy's story wasn't
meant to end happily.  It just couldn't be.  And have you ever thought
of what Angel's life would have been if he had ever come back. It would
have been horrible.  Giles would have totally hated him.  Willow and the
others would have feared him.  And Buffy wouldn't have jumped in his
arms right away.  They only wanted Angel to come back because Angelus
was dangerous.  Not to welcome him with open arms.  It was too late.
Jenny's death was one too many.  I think Angel wouldn't have been able
to bear this burden.  He'd probably have commited suicide.  Which would
have been horrible.  Angel got what, deep-down inside, he always thought
he deserved: horrible and eternal torment.  And it ended the best way.
I wouldn't have liked it if Buffy would have killed him like any other
vampire, you know, a little fight, sarcastic remarks, stake to the
heart, poof!, some ashes.  But to see them have the time for a last
embrace, a last kiss, a last I love you, it was perfect.  Angel
shouldn't come back, it would spoil it all.  Please, look at this end
with new eyes.  Buffy's sacrifice of her one-time lover was one of the
most beautiful things I had ever seen on a TV screen.  It got me right
there, in my heart, something a happy ending wouldn't have done.  This
moment should be cherished and loved, not despised.  Remember that Buffy
is *not* a sitcom, neither a love story; it's a horror show and a drama.
That's what happens when you have tragedy as faith.
~Angel

A new Reader Rant (this person submitted it annonymously, but I'm dying to know who did, cause it sounds scarily like me...):

ok - maybe i'm just wierd, but although i know that oz is better for
willow, better looking, and even a better friggin' person than xander - i still
am rooting for a w/x relationship. i worship oz. worship. as in cultism - he is
my god, i shall have no other gods before me and so on and so forth. BUT i
am faithful to my original cause, and i feel that anything the hacker wants, she
deserves. she wanted xander, and she should have the chance to get him. if
she turned him down, i'd be happy - but he needs to grovel. he put her through
years old self-anguish - he needs to pay. then he can marry cordy, who i'm actually
  beginning to . . . like.
                                                                                    ~Annonymous

This pertains to the poll, but it's more of a Reader Rant, so I'm labeling it as such:

"Why does everyone think what Oz has for Willow is so special?
Most  people comment that Oz noticed that Willow was special the first time he
saw and Xander hasn't woken up yet. There's only one thing wrong with that -- if you
really notice someone the first time you see them the reaction is almost
certainly physical. Instead of Oz being attracted to the Cordy type he's
physically attracted to Willow. In Halloween it's clear that he doesn't know
Willow (Who IS that girl?) -- he must be physically attracted to her. From
what  few episodes we've seen with them together I don't think that they really know
each other yet. I don't think that they could even possibly be beyond the
"serious crush" stage yet. Now if Xander ever woke up and noticed the
"hottie" right under his nose you'd be talking soul mate immediately. One
good thing about Willow/Oz is that this may be the thing that finally wakes Xander
up. I may take a season or two of episodes or some heavy drama but barring
contract disputes Xander/Willow is bound to happen. "

So what up guys? any responses?~Sere

Poll Update

Oz = 75%
Xander = 25%

Check out the comments:

As far as the Xander/Oz debate -- much as I adore Xander, I have to say that Oz is better for Willow. Xander does know how Willow feels (he said as much while possessed in "the Pack") and he simply doesn't return those feelings. It is much better for Willow to be with someone who is as intelligent as she is (or at least in the same ballpark) and who does have romantic feelings towards her.
~ Ndmontague Poll update:

Oz = 80%
Xander = 20%

More of what you had to say

"I think that Oz is much better for Willow than Xander. Oz realized that Willow was special right away, the first time he saw her. Xander has been around Willow their whole lives. He didn't realize that she had feeling for him, or that she was the coolest person on earth. Xander is too busy following his hormones. Willow should move on to someone that will love her unconditionally. I mean, Oz took a freakin' bullet for Willow. If that's not love, I don't know WHAT is!!"
Sorry I've been ranting, but I vote for Oz.
~Oz fan Mina

Looks like the Oz fans are winning. With an even greater margin, Oz is kicking Xander's butt bigtime. Let's here it from all you Xander Fans!! Fight back!! Make yourselves heard. Poll will be updated when need be.

Next Rant

Okay, I'm gonna start posting new rants on the top from now on as opposed to the bottom (makes more sense, huh? ) Anyway, this is less of a rant, and more of an...umm..confession....well...see..I'm actually starting to LIKE Cordelia (dodges flying stakes, crossbows and flaming sticks) Yes, well, I know that she's the huge spoiler in a W/X relationship, but she's actualy been pretty freaking cool during the last few episodes. Like, during KBD, she brought Xander food after he was taking care of Buffy in the hospital all day. She also had some pretty terrific lines in that ep:"I was using the term 'watching her back' as a euphamism for 'looking at her butt'..." LOL. Basically, she's really becoming part of the group (like with the whole "gift-giving" thing at the begining when Buffy first got into the hospital). I found myself enjoying her presence for once and not constantly thinking 'Damn, what a skanky ho.'

Think about it, she was even willing to "seduce" the skeevy hospital security dude in order to distract him so that Xander could get those files. Pretty soon she'll be carrying crosses and staking vampires...Don't get me wrong, I mean, she not really my favorite person, and she's still ditzy and self-absorbed, but there almost seems to be a vague hinting of DEPTH in her character (who'd have thought?). So, I guess for now, bottom line is that Cordy's cool. She's actually picking up the slack in her relationship with Xander (even though I ABHOR that relationship...) and acting like a real girlfirend (i.e. bringing the food and all). So, what do you guys think about Cordy's involvement in the show? Any interesting speculations? Next season, Oz'll be a regular cast member (OH YAY!) how is that gonna effect Cordy? (Oh look, it's my pathetic attempt at facilitating a discussion..)

Speaking of the Oz-man, (my spiffy segue...segue is pronounced "seg-way"..yeah, I didn't know it was spelled that way either...) this bring us to the poll/reader rants I've been conducting for the past few weeks. The question was (in case ya missed it) Who's better for Willow? Oz or Xander? Thus far, here are the results:

Oz = 63%
Xander = 37%

Here's some of what you had to say:

"I vote for Xander on the who would Willow be best with thing. I think she would probably pick Oz now if she had to choose cause of Xander's recent actions, but I feel that Willow and Xander's relationship is a lot more complex than her and Oz's, she doesn't even really know OZ at all too, Xander she grew up with." ~ Spider12(Stephanie) (quick Ed's note: I found this response to be especially interesting because Steph indicated throughout her e-mail that she was actually a die hard Seth/Oz fan, but in the end voted for Xander with Willow anyway...)

"Ummm...[Oz is better because] he adores her, he's attentive, he's sweet, he's not oblivious, AND he's not obsessed with Buffy; in short, he's everything that Xander is not."~ Molly

So that's about it for now. The people have spoken and, with a fair majority, have voted "Oz" (I voted Xander, personally). But this isn't the be all and end all. There's still time to get your votes and comments in. Just go to the Feedback page and use the form to get in touch with me. I'll update the poll (if need be), almost daily. (I'm on break, I have time...) Oh, and one last thing, there were a few of you who sent me comments, like, back in the day (a looonnnng time ago) and unfortunately, my e-mail has gone wacky and I've lost them, so I apologize. If you'd like to be featured here, please resubmit...thanks!

Next rant

Has anyone aside from me noticed how Xander has basically been told, not once, but twice that Willow likes him? As in, people have basically told him to his face? What is up with that? I mean, stupidity only goes so far...

The first time was when Willow caught him and Cordy making out in the stacks (quick ed's. note: Can we say...GROSS ME OUT??) and she ran away, but he caught up with her and then she said, and i quote "It just means you'd rather be with someone you hate...than with me."

Okay. so maybe we can chalk that up to obliviousness and circumstance. I mean, it's possible that he was distracted by the whole 'Angel's-gone-loonie' storyline and whatnot, and might have thought that Willow's words were spoken out of anger. However In the V-Day episode, did anyone else catch that Buffy said to him that Willow was embarassed because she liked him before she'd been affected by the spell????

So, in my opinon, that's just beyond stupid. Makes ya wonder how the boy gets dressed in the morning. Geez....I mean, don't get me wrong, I adore Xander and I think he's great with Willow and all but HELLOOOO????

I wasn't really sold on the whole "Willow and Oz" thing, but I have to admit, Oz is awesome. He's adorable, intelligent and completely attentive to Willow while keeping his own backbone (like when he turned Willow down for a 'make-out session' because he realized that she just wanted to get Xander jealous, he's so damn cool.) So I'm gradually becoming a huge Oz/Seth fan.

Wow.

Conflicts.

So, what's the point of all this? Easy. I want to know your opinon. Who's better for Willow? Oz or Xander? (quick ed's. note: How about Angel?) (You can thank the goddess known as Melinda S. Dawney and her story 'Friendship' {found on the slayerfanfic site} for putting that little idea into my head..LOL)

Anyway, send in your vote as well as a reason. The funniest/most logical/most creative reasons will be posted (with the submitters name attached, obviously) on this page, as well as the results of the poll. You can send them in by either e-mailing me or using the form on the main page.

Rant #2:

Okay, I'm risking enraging all you rabid SMG fans out there, but I just gotta ask... How many freakin pictures of Buffy do we need? Yes, I understand that she's the "star" of the show and I completely agree that she's a brilliant and talented actress, but come on already! It's insane. There are 4,763 pictures of Buffy, Buffy and Angel, Buffy and Xander, Buffy and her stunt double, Buffy and pretty much every living creature on earth, meanwhile there's about 5 decent pictures of Willow. Go fig.

I just realized this when I went looking for a couple of Buffy pics for my page. I almost had a heart-attack. Some of the sites...whoa baby. There are pictures from here to east guam. It's like..hmm, which picture should I choose? Well, there's Buffy with a leather jacket, Buffy with a leather jacket half of her shoulder, Buffy crouching, Buffy crouching with her head turned, Buffy in a blue sundress, Buffy in a green sundress, Buffy in a pink sundress, Buffy without cleavage, Buffy with cleavage, Buffy with enough cleavage to take your eye out. And then there are my personal favorites, Buffy with Angel, Buffy with Angel, Buffy with Angel, and Buffy with Angel.... What the heck?

I'd just like to give a nice big ol' shout out to the WB and Joss Whedon and ask him if he could get some more publicity shots of everyone else, maybe? I mean, think about poor Oz. There is not so much as one decent picture of him. Screen caps can only go so far. And while we're on the subject of Oz, why the heck isn't he on the main site? What's up with that? It's kinda like Randy in Scream. He's the coolest character in the movie and then wasn't on the poster or the CD cover or anything.

Okay, so, just for the record: I love Buffy, she's terrific, she's amazing, she's a goddess, but it's getting old. This is allegedly an ensemble show, let's give everyone else a little bit more attention, please.

If you haven't seen Passion yet, don't read this!!!!
All those who cried when Jenny was killed, please raise you hands. Argh. How infuriating. Now what? Even if Angel gets his soul back, he'll still be hated by everyone...including himself. Talk about doubling up on the guilt...

Giles will never ever trust him again, Buffy has been completely betrayed, Xander's hatred towards him is now etched in stone, and poor Willow, did anyone else noticed how much she cried when she found out? It's just so sad.

The only thing I don't understand is that when Angel was hunting her, why didn't Jenny fight back? Isn't she a Technopagan? Shouldn't she be able to..well..cast spells? I mean, at least a small one in self defense? For instance, during BBB, Amy was a witch and got into a fight with Jenny and started casting spells left and right. (before Xander stopped her). I just can't help but think that if it'd been Amy, she'd have turned Angel into a little vampie rat in about three seconds. I just didn't like the setup of the whole thing. Is Jenny really that naive that she never thought to protect herself while in the school? That she'd just sit there with the lights off and not have the slightest idea that he could get in? That she wouldn't have a talisman or a cross or ANYTHING as possible protection? I admit that I'd heard that she'd die in this episode, so, in a way, I was prepared for it. I just feel that if she was going down, she should've gone down with a fight. It suppose it makes it even worse that he just broke her neck like that. Not to mention the look on Giles' face when he dropped the champagne bottle (I was screaming). It was a very painful episode overall. I'm interested to see how the healing process will take effect later on and if the writers can stay true to what they've created. (not to mention that disk...)
