Author's note: This is basically a different take of the end
of Becoming 2.
It's practically a transcript, with a little bit of leeway.
" Acum! "
The orb of Thesula shone brightly with an inner light for a moment.
Then,
it went dark. Willow’s shoulder’s slumped as her body returned
from the power
of
the spell. No one noticed the slight red glow in her eyes.
**************************************************
The small group met before school, hoping against hope that the
others had
heard from Buffy. Oz came to a stop, slowly, so as not to jostle
Willow’s
wheelchair.
Giles looked to the girl worriedly, though not as much so as
Xander.
" Willow, are you sure you should be out of bed? "
" Look who’s talking."
Giles smiled softly at the girl, only adding a soft, " yes."
They had all
been
through so much, so quickly. Giles shook himself out of his
reverie, suprised
that
Cordelia was the first to inquire about Buffy.
" Any word? ", she asked, a little meekly for her.
Xander’s expression fell, but not as much as when he looked to
Willow.
"You guys haven’t seen her either? "
" No. " Giles noted the concern in Willow’s voice, he hoped she
wasn’t
blaming herself for any of this.
At Willow’s remark, Oz decided to speak, if only to bring some
good to
the conversation, which was at the moment, threatening to depress
his Willow.
" Well, we know the world didn’t end, cause… check it out. "
He waved his arm
about as if to prove his point.
Giles pulled off his glasses, squinting into the morning light.
For a moment
he was paralyzed with the memory. " Well, we… ah… we went back
to the
masion.
It was empty, um…and Acathla was, was… was dormant. "
" I think the spell worked. I felt something go through me. "
Willow looked
uncomfortable at this, Giles thought, but put it off to the
unique…
experience of it.
" Plus, the orb did that cool glow thing. " Ah, Cordelia, always
the
expressive
one.
Xander shifted uncomfortably, something obviously on his mind.
" Well, maybe
it wasn’t in time. Maybe she had to kill him before the cure
could work. "
" Well, then, she’d wanna be alone, I guess ", Oz said.
" Or maybe Angel was saved, and they want to be alone together. "
Willow always was the romantic, thought Giles, before giving
a doubtful
" Perhaps. "
Cordelia decided at that moment to end what she had started.
" Well, she has
to
show up sooner or later, we still have school. " Little did
she know.
" Yeah," Willow said, looking around at the fringes of the campus,
spotting
the
vampire slayer standing behind a tree. " She’ll be her in awhile."
Oz began
pushing the
girl toward the school.
None of the companions noticed Willow’s small smile to herself.
" Yes, "
thought Angelus, looking out through the wisps of red hair,
" but none of you
will be in any position to appreciate it..."
The End…
