(The) Sagas
of Noggin the Nog 1965
"From Norwich, its the quiz of the week" was its opening
introduction. Who would beleive that by 1978 it would become the highest watched programme
of the year with 21.2 million viewers. One of the classic, yet basic, quiz shows of the
70's. Presented by Nicholas Parsons to whom The Goodies constantly
referred to.
Sam on Boff's
Island 1972
This is classic nostalgia. According to TV Cream, this was Tony Robinson (Balderick) and
it had stupid little men everywhere on an island intent on pronouncing words correctly.
The Say Birds. I remember having an execise book to fill in at school after each
programme. Did anyone else have this book?
Samuel Tweet 19??
Can anyone remember this? About a bloke who found it hard to pronounce his words
pwoperly.
Scooby Doo 1970
A brilliant cartoon with an impossible-to-get mystery, because you never
saw the clues until the end. The only failure of this cartoon, was introducing the
annoying Scrappy. The original was by far the best. Watching Shaggy bribing Scooby with
Scooby Snacks and Shaggy shouting ZIKES!!! were timeless classics. One worrying issue
though. Why was Fred always so keen to split up from Shaggy and Scooby ? Lets face it
Velma (long orange socks and a red mini-skirt) and Daphne (not my type) were no oil
paintings.
Screen Test 1976
Hosted by Michael Rod. Young contestants had to answer questions based
on a short clip of a film.
Secret
Squirrel 1959
Another Hanna Barbara production with a squirrel and mole going
undercover to sort out the cities villains.
I don't Know a lot about this cartoon except it seemed very closely
related to the more popular Captain Pugwash.
(The) Six
Million Dollar Man 1974
Lee Majors
Sky's The
Limit 1972
(The) Smurfs 1978
(The) Sooty Show 1968
Sooty, Sweep, Sue and the Corbett family made this a puppet classic.
Sooty was all water pistols and "Izzy whizzy, lets get busy", Sweep was obsessed
with sausages and bones and Sue the panda (a bird for Sooty) fussed the two of them. Some
of you may remember a fierce dog called Butch making appearances every so often. Later
Harry Corbert handed the show to his son Matthew (who first appeared on Rainbow's Rod,
Jane and Matthew.)
Some Mothers
Do 'ave 'em 1973
22 episodes made were made in which Michael
Crawford performed every stunt. He was a walking disaster.
Space 1999 1975
48 episodes made.
Star Trek 1969
Steptoe and Son 1962
Still to this day a messy place is referred to as "Steptoe's backyard". Albert and Harold.
Stingray 1964
39 episodes made.
Superstars 1976
Famous sportsmen would take on the challenge against each other in a competition of gym,
track and field events. I can particularly remember people like Kevin Keegan and Brian
Jacks being amonst others.
