Love him or hate him, there's no way you can ignore him! Christopher Donlon joined the show in the third season, and continues to divide fan opinion!
Chris was a singer, a dancer and an actor, although he needed Leroy's help in classical dancing to avoid spending a year with the "shuffling buffalos"! He didn't quite make it and ended up spending a term there. (Gonna Learn How To Fly Part 2)
Chris was a Golden Gloves boxer, whose amateur career ended in controversy when he allegedly "thumbed" an opponent. (Knockout) He ended up giving him a rematch and beating him again.
Chris had quite an eye for the ladies, and the ladies had quite an eye for him too! He was going out with Kate Reilly (Contacts) but an older casting director set her sights on him, breaking up him and Kate. Another older woman who fell for his charms was Daphne (Take My Wife....Please) who just happened to be the ex-wife of his drama teacher, Trevor Kane. He also romanced Sasha, a diplomat's daughter (Czech-Mate)and was devastated when Julie, his girlfriend, "the only girl I ever met who's prettier than I am" was revealed to be a cocaine addict. He stood by her and tried to get her to clean up her act, but to no avail. Eventually, he realised that he couldn't save her, and had to let her go, rather than be dragged down with her.(White Light)
He also had a crush on Nicole Chapman, as was revealed in the episode His Majesty Donlon where we also discovered that he was a dead ringer for Prince Freddie, whose girlfriend, Marianna Gimblestein was a dead ringer for Nicole! Nothing ever happened between the two of them, but this was alluded to in Go Softly into Morning where Nicole died. In talking to the camera, Chris mentioned how someone can be so much a part of your life, and how you can even have a crush on them, and lose them so suddenly.
His best friend was Danny Amatullo. In Mister Wacky's World he tried to get Danny to go on a double date with him after his show was over but Danny had to study. Chris ended up with two beautiful women. Danny "stole" Chris' life in the episode Stradi-Various. While Chris was upset about losing his own identity, he told Danny he was even more upset about losing Danny Amatullo. "He was a good friend." Chris was always happy for Danny whenever he got some work. He supported him even if it meant breaking up the team they had become. He never complained. (Teamwork)
He also made friends with Cassidy when no one else would.(Parent's Week)
He stood up for Leroy when Leroy wanted to run in the track meet and convinced Miss Grant to go and watch Leroy run. (A Way of Winning)
He missed rehearsal and was replaced in the show because he had to take careof his little brother and sister because his father wasn't dealing with the death of his mother.
There was a school of thought which was always convinced that Chris and Holly Laird would one day be more than just good friends. The closest we got to this was in Reflections where Holly was sick with anorexia. Before she collapsed, Chris was looking for a prom date, but every time he thought about asking someone, he chickened out. My personal belief is that he was going to ask Holly - he kept trying to talk to her. When she collapsed (in his arms) in ballet class, and he was in the hospital and heard she might die, he went into her room and confronted her about it - "You're killing yourself Holly!" Miss Grant and a nurse had to forcibly drag him out. At the prom, when Holly was named prom queen, and had no date, Chris, who also had no date, danced with her.
He protected Nicole and Jessie when Jessie was in a coma after falling off the stage in rehearsal after that substitute teacher attacked her. He witnessed the incident staying after school. (The Incident)
He helped Danny to deal with his childhood friend being gay. He didn't get upset that he wasn't invited to the movie when he wanted to tag along with Danny after work. (Best Buddies)
He got mad at Lou's brother when he had his man beat up Lou while trying to get out of the contract he had signed.(The Big Contract) He was also instrumental in helping Lou to run for president of the League of Bowling Alley Owners. (Ian's Girl)
He let Ian go around to film him for a school project when he didn't want to and was devastated when no one believed him when someone was after him.
He lost his girlfriend Shelly Dumbrowski when he had to rake care of his nephew,Spike. (Hold That Baby)He also lost the chance to get the job in the show he auditioned for, because Spike came first. He loved that baby.
His honesty got him into trouble too with his review of Cleo's performance. (Nothing Personal) Everyone turned against him. He tried to explain and apologize but no one, not even Danny, would listen. Miss Grant took it out on him in class and he persevered. Miss Sherwood was the only one on his side. Everyone walked out on him during his performance at Lou's. After they all got it straightened out and were friends again. Chris gave Cleo her chance at her dream when he invited her to join him onstage.
Chris was rendered temporarily deaf in an accident, and had to attend the school for the deaf. (Signs)
While never shy, Chris once suffered from a bad case of stage fright when he was appearing as Elvis in a 50s play in the school. (Stage Fright)
After he graduated from the school, Chris worked at Lou's Lanes.
