Coco is sitting on a table in the cafeteria surrounded by a group of people, including Nicole Jesse and Cleo and some of the Fame dancers
Cleo:
Y’know, I really think it’s terrific for a celebrity like you to be coming back to school.
Coco:
Some celebrity.
Jesse:
Hey, a couple of Broadway shows…
Coco:
I was in the chorus.
Jesse:
A lead in a movie?
Coco:
Look,I was a walk-on.
Nicole:
You got jobs didn’t you?
Coco:
Yeah.
Jesse:
Well, that’s all we need to know. Round here, if you got jobs, you’re a celebrity. (all nod agreement) You played Chicago, you played Seattle, and in L.A. you had your name up on a marquee in lights.
Coco:
Well the only place you’re going to see my name these days is on an unemployement cheque!
Cleo:
You know, you are so modest for being a star!
Coco:
(leans forward, grabs Cleo’s arm, and says earnestly) I’m not a star. OK?
Jesse:
I heard you were one of the greatest talents that ever came out of this school. Well let’s see some of that old magic.
(Coco is pulled off her perch on the table, as everybody implores her to perform)
Nicole:
How great can she be?
