Scene: Leroy and Coco are at Leroy’s place, getting ready for bed.
Coco:
I’ve been out there. And I know you don’t blindly do what someone tells you. You think everyone nurtures your talent like Miss Grant? No! He’s not a director, he’s a traffic cop!
Leroy:
I thought you said he was the best there was.
Coco:
Man, you are the talent, and you are the judge. And if somebody’s making you look like a fool, you gotta stop it, no matter what.
Leroy:
Look I’m only gonna need one of these pillows. You want the extra one? Here. (throws it at her)
Coco:
Leroy, whose side are you on?
Leroy:
Baby, I’m on your side. Look, if you don’t know that by now, you don’t know nothin’
Coco:
I know that.
Leroy:
Look, can we just get some sleep?
Leroy settles down to get some sleep on his makeshift bed on the floor. Coco, in his bed, raises herself up on one elbow and looks down at him, smiling.
Coco:
Leroy
Leroy:
Huh?
Coco:
I don’t think that it’s such a good idea for you to be sleeping on that cold floor. I think you’re gonna get pneumonia. Come on, there’s room in here.
Leroy:
Coco, I have a reputation to protect.
Coco:
Ha! I’m not going to ruin your virtue! (throws pillow at him) Now come on, get in here! Get in here! (Leroy does) Now tell me, isn’t that better?
Leroy:
No, I’m not going to tell you that. Go to sleep.
Coco:
Leroy! (tickles him)
Leroy:
Stop it, go to sleep.
Coco:
Leroy, you’re something else, you know that?
Leroy:
Why’d you say that?
Coco:
Because. When I needed the price of a bus ticket, you gave it to me. When I needed a place to stay, you put me up. When I needed a bed, you gave me yours.
Leroy:
Coco, I’m glad you’re back. I really missed you.
Coco:
I’m so glad you’re my friend. I love you Leroy. (she kisses his cheek) Night.
Leroy:
Goodnight. (she turns over, and he touches her hair) I love you too.
