Scene : Leroy’s apartment. He and Coco are obviously just finishing dinner. Coco stands and begins clearing up.

Leroy:
What are you doing?

Coco:
The dishes.

Leroy:
Guests ain’t supposed to do the dishes.

Coco:
Well, Emily Post says every guest should help out.

Leroy:
Well, I hate to burst your bubble sister, but Emily Post ain’t never been above 110th Street. (Coco, very subdued, walks over to the window and looks out) Hey Coco, what’s the matter? What’s the matter baby?

Coco:
Just everything. Just everything.

Leroy:
C’mon Coco. Coco. You’re not the first actress who ever got fired.

Coco:
That’s for sure.

Leroy:
What do you mean? You been fired before?

Coco:
Before I came here. I had a really big part. In a really big show. And I blew it. Because I got scared.

Leroy:
It’s ok, it ain’t no big thing. It’s no big thing.

Coco:
Leroy, don’t you see? I’m doing it again. I’m scared to fail. I’m scared to fail.

Leroy:
Hey, you won’t fail. Look at me, you won’t fail. You’re one of the best things out there. You won’t fail. (kisses the top of her head)

Coco:
(looks at him) What, are you getting hung up on me?

Leroy:
No. (pause) What if I was? What would you say?

Coco:
I would say that would be nice. But a mistake.

Leroy:
Lucky for me I’m not then huh? (takes his hands aways from Coco’s)

Coco:
(taking his hand again) Yeah.

(They kiss)
