Like Danny, Leroy was the only kid to stay from season one to season 6 of the show. The major difference between the two of them was that Leroy actually graduated! He stayed at the school when he became a teacher's aide to Miss Grant.

We've met more of Leroy's family than we have of any other cast members. The kids surprised him by bringing his mother to see a show (Reunions) and his jailbird brother turned up in season one's Tomorrow's Farewell getting Leroy into serious trouble when he left a gun in his locker. Leroy's niece Tina, came to live with him in season 5, and her father turned up when she inherited some money. (The Inheritance) Although Leroy only has one brother, they didn't appear to be the same character. We also met Leroy's Uncle Eddie in Catch a Falling Star. Leroy's father ran out on his mother when Leroy was very young. He promised him he'd be back, but never returned. Leroy was angry with his father when he showed up at the school (I Never Danced For My Father) but the two of them did make up.

Leroy had a very rough childhood, and he lives in a small appartment. Miss Sherwood was shocked when she saw that he lives in a "pitiful little room" (The Strike) References have been made in the series to how Leroy danced himself out of the ghetto.

Leroy is a very strong stubborn individual, which led to several run-ins with other people like this, notably Coco and Miss Grant. He ended up having romantic inerludes with both these women, Coco in Coco Returns and Miss Grant in Such Good Friends when Tina decided to play matchmaker.

Another of Leroy's girlfriends was Stephanie, played by Stephanie E. Williams (Beginnings) When she was being discriminated against by a racist ballet teacher, it was Leroy who encouraged her to fight back rather than leave the school.

Leroy was also a very talented runner when he was younger, setting records which still stand. Mr Morloch convinced him to give track and field another try (A Way of Winning) but Leroy eventually decided that dance meant more to him.

Shades of Leroy becoming a teacher himself were shown early in the third season when he tried to help Chris stay out of the second ballet class, also known as the "Shuffling Buffaloes" When Chris failed the first tryout, Leroy tried to persuade Miss Grant to let him stay in the regular class, and promised to keep working with Chris until he was up to scratch.(Gonna Learn How To Fly Part 2) He also helped Billy Hall when Billy needed help in dancing the lead in the show.(Knockout)

In Indian Summer Leroy's girlfriend thought she was pregnant. It turned out to be a false alarm, but he got the advice from Mr Shorofsky that the next time he feels a surge of excess energy, he should dance!

Spontaneous Combustion saw Leroy get expelled from school when he protested against the ban on singing and dancing in non-designated areas. He even refused to represent the school in the State Arts Festival, because he wasn't proud of the school anymore. He earned a reprieve when Mr Morloch realised that the ban was tearing the school apart.

Leroy went to auditions outside of school which isn't allowed, but he never accepted any of them. Once he got caught in a Blizzard on his way to one, and we got the fantasy sequence of him dancing with a snowman. One of his biggest acting challenges was in The Monster That Devoured Las Vegas when Cassidy cast him as the white scientist!

Cleo Hewitt had a crush on Leroy from the time she started at the school. He rescued her from a bully in the cafeteria and the rest was history. He didn't give her the time of day until she got some advice from Holly and Nicole (Take My Wife...Please) on how to get a guy - namely, pretend he didn't exist! Cleo took the advice to heart, and ended up spending a lot of time with Danny. Leroy promptly got jealous, and finally asked Cleo out.

Leroy went on the game show Big Bucks in order to ease his money worries (Wishes) but instead of winning money, he only won prizes. A garage sale was held on the steps of the school to raise money so that he could pay his rent.

While he could be stubborn, Leroy could also be very forgiving and give people the benefit of the doubt. When Mr Morloch was at the bottom of everyone's Christmas Card list, Leroy gave him a chance, proposing a toast to him at a gathering at his place. (Ebenezer Morloch)

Leroy also wasn't adverse to speaking up for his beliefs, even if they weren't popular, and even if they didn't suit his friends. When Nicole wanted to have her Broadway part and stay in the school, Leroy argued against it, saying that if you went to the school, you should respect its rules. Nicole, he felt, had to make a choice.

Even though Danny was his best friend, they had their fallings out. One of these was over the play Huck Finn. The black students, thinking it was racist, boycotted it, and the play was changed. Leroy quit in disgust. He and Danny ended up having a fistfight in the hall over it. (A River To Cross) The friendship also became strained when Leroy was accused by a friend of Danny's of favouring black students. (Judgement Day)

In Losin' It Leroy had an accident while he was dancing, which left him afraid to dance. He was afraid of injuring himself again. He was helped out by the kids in the school, and by Miss Grant.

Leroy was doing night classes, and Nicole tutored him in biology. (All I Want For Christmas) In the same episode, he also worked at Lou's to try to make some extra money, so he could buy Tina the doll's house that she wanted for Christmas.

In Baby Remember My Name Leroy decided to leave the school. He still loved the place, and the people, but he knew that he could dance. Now it was time to prove it.
