Gibbie

It was early in the morning. Me woke up from me bed and went outside. I immediately walked over to the mulberry tree for some breakfast. Me saw two people there. Klipp and Dramy, I think.

"Morning!" I said waving. They smiled a waved back. I then picked up a few apples and ate them one by one. Those apples are really yummy! I picked up three more apples, and while swallowing one I looked at the two Hoodians.

"Where's Doodles?" I asked. . .this was the first time I haven’t gone this long without running into him. Klipp answered. . .

"Doo went back to his world this morning."

"His world?" I questioned, "Me thought Doodles live here."

"He does!" stated Dramy. I guess they could tell I was confused, still. They told me the whole story about Doo that morning while eating.

"Dats amazing!" me said when they finished. The two grinned and nodded at

me. Then I stood up, full from eating all those apples. I patted me tummy and wondered off saying to Dramy and Klipp. . .

"Me go on walk. See yo' later! And thanks for story!" They watched me as I when through the Explosive Shack door. When I crossed the bridge, and after changing it, I went down the steps slowly.

"Oof!" I slipped on the second to last step! Me was so close. . .

I stood up and dusted off the mud. Then walked into the Radio Room. I expected to see Tramen there, but he no was. I moved the dials on the purple radio, suddenly the front door closed! Worried me knocked on door! But I then notice somethin' out of the corner of me eye. Another door was opened into a different room! I walked in curiously. . .I pulled this rope and light went on.

What IS this place?

I looked at the window and saw three test tubes with this liquidy stuff in them. . .they were interesting colors and I picked them up to look at colors better. Then. . .

*Squeak!*

I heard this weird sound! I screamed and dropped a tube on the ground.

Uh oh. . .

I kneeled down to pick up the broken pieces. Right by my feet was this weird looking creature soaked with the stuff from the test tube I dropped. I jumped back! Me scared! The lil' critter shaked and crawled through the Radio Room door.

What was that?! Me needed better look! I ran into the room, and under a pipe was this tiny white creature with those. .big. . .um . . .what do you call 'em? Oh, yeah! It have gray ears! It looked a little like the thing Gnimen was petting the first day I came! I walked closer and it made that eerie noise again.

*Squeak!*

Pondering what that meant I stepped back. Mebbe it talk to me.

"Um. . .hello, me Ed! Who you?" It came up to me casually. I reached down to pick it up. It just looked up at me and wagged it's tail. . .so me picked it up. Soon as me stood up me heard a knock at the entrance door. I put the little creature on my shoulder and turned the radio. Nope. . .that's not it. I tried again. . .

"Hello?" a voice from outside said.

Ah! Got the door open! I started walking out and there was Tramen.

"Hiiii Tramen!" He smiled down at me. . .

"Hello Ed. What brings you down here?"

I picked up the creature up off my shoulder and raised it up to Tramen. Me find this!

"A mouse?"

"Mouse? Mouse? What a mouse?"

"That. . ." Trumen answered pointing to the animal in my hand. A mouse. . .I thought to myself.

"Thanks Tramen! Me go now, byyeee!" I ran off and went up the steps. I went all the way back to my house caring the. . .mouse.

When I got there I set the mouse on a small square table and grabbed a chuck of klaycandy.

"Do mouse speak?" I ask the lil' thing.

*Squeak!*

I gotta find out what that means one of these days. . .

Holding a piece of candy I broke off from the bug chunk, I asked the mouse. . .

"What you name? Do mouse have name, anyway?"

It just stared at the klaycandy. I sighed and gave it the small piece. I sat on me bed and thought for a minute. The I jumped up.

"Mouse need name. Ed name mouse!" I looked at the creature, now curled up. I pointed to mouse.

"You Gibbie," then me pointed to myself, "me Ed!" The little mouse cocked his head. .

*Squeak!*

Gibbie pointed it's nose at my hand. Oh! The klaycandy!

"Here Gibbie," I set down the rest of the candy. It rushed over and ate the whole thing.

"Yummy!" it said in a squeaky voice. I blinked. . .

"Gibbie talk?!" It just stared at me for a moment. . .

"Yeep!" it finally responded.

"Wow!" I shouted. I picked up Gibbie and went outside.

"Doodles! you back!" Me ran up to hug Doo, with Gibbie clinging to my shoulder. I then took a step back and took Gibbie. I held his right in front of Doodles.

"This it me new mouse! He name Gibbie!" Gibbie sniffled then squeaked,

"Hiii!"

"Talking klay mouse?" Doo said. Then he smiled and petted Gibbie on the head. The mouse smiled back at Doodles.

"Hey Ed. I'm going to go play a game by the apple tree. You want to come?"

"Sure!" I replied, and I set Gibbie on the ground and followed Doodles. And when I turned back to Gibbie he was following too. What a nice new pet. . .er friend.
