By mistake, Julia Heller was found to be the only doctor on the Eden ship.
She was born in 2167 (so we are guessing she is 25 years old in 2192, just before the cold-sleep) on the space stations.
[ It is stated in "First Contact" that 25 years of probe info indicated no sign of intelligent life. So, we can supposed that it was at this very moment that the council started thinking about colonizing the planet, and that, therefore they "created" Julia.]
She has the particularity to be genetically enhanced.
Julia is really a kind and a peacefull girl, but having been educated in the Council environment (as her mother was a great member of the Council), she has to assume her citizen duty (whatever she is really thinkg about it) even if it means duplicity.
So, among the Eden advance group she is in reality a spy sent by the Council ( an obscure government) in order to inform her superiors of the Eden project progression.
But after a while, her treason was found out and she was abandonned by the group.
However, Alonzo (the pilot of the ship) got back to her and brought her back.
She denied and turned her back to the Council; and, free of this weight she carried, she eventually appeared to be a fundamental and trustworthy member of the Eden project crew.
She is completly in love with Alonzo Solace, and because of their opposite characters, their love story can be sometimes very intense !
